Obviously there is a huge difference between novels and film. But that said, Filoni and Favreau have the opportunity to present us with a fascinating and very complex live-action villain.

Back in the day, I read the novel Silence of the Lambs and was fascinated by the character of Hannibal Lector before the film ever came out. But the chilling way that Anthony Hopkins portrayed him and the approach the director took to filming him -- raised him to a whole new level of badassness.

Obviously, Thrawn is a completely different type of villain. And its doubtful that Thrawn will receive that kind of Oscar Award-winning treatment. But the character's complexity certainly offers up the same kind of live-action potential.

 

Have you ever seen Brian Cox (of "Succession" fame) and Mads Mikkelsen (Galen Erso of "Rogue One") as Hannibal Lector? All three actors were fantastic in the role.

If only the new location was the very same place that Lord Plagueis force-teleported to, then we'd really have something.


As is, the news is 7 out of 10. Sounds pretty legit. Might watch.

The way I choose to look at it is that if it is not a misdirect and really is not Mikkelsen, then Feloni and Favroni found someone they think will be better.

That would make sense, he had to have been born around 0 BBY. I guess it all depends on when in the timeline we see him, if we do at all. Another rumor is that this series is going to occur before, during and after her episode in Mando S2. He didn't look to be that old in the Rebels finale, tho.

Lol. Yes, he is quite the excitable young fella.

 

Tom Ellis from 'Lucifer' would be a perfect Thrawn, I think. Another solid candidate would be... Jason Isaacs. (He played Lorca from Star Trek Discovery - I know it sucks - the guy who was from the alternate evil universe.)

 

Bo Katan was a great surprise for Katee Sackhoff reprising her Clone Wars voice role, but with Rupert Friend taking on Inquisitor from Jason Isaacs, who shined in every episode of Season 1 and made it worthwhile, Rosario Dawson etc. Thrawn can be played pretty much by anyone under the prosthetics and patiently waiting for reveal, trailer or anything is so hard!

I am even starting to wonder, if Thrawn is in the Season 1 at all. But I get it, we are two weeks from Mandalorian finale and Celebration is on the weekend, I bet that we get load of stuff in these upcoming few days and hopefully, Thrawn will be tossed in as well. Would be cool to bring in Timothy Zahn to the Ahsoka panel, as he basically owns the character in the books even after Disney reset the canon.
