Official Captain Phasma TLJ Thread

seems like a fair guess. she's the right age and in the right place at the right time ~ hahaha

 

yeah, hopefully that's the actual cover, etc. and not just a mock-up on a book block.
with the way it's taken them so long to produce any First Order-specific EU stuff, i'm hoping this will be nice and juicy, regardless of what audience it's for!

 

my guess is they are trying to keep the first order under wraps till we get closer to this movie. once the cats out the bag about who snoke, rey phasma, finn ect are maybe we will get more stories of the background people

 

most definitely. very much looking forward to seeing where these people have been for the last 30 years!

I for one, just hope to see Phasma "earn her chrome" and put on a display of skills where we go, "ah ok, that's why she has the different suit... she's different". We haven't see anything out of her yet or why exactly she's chromed out. It would be interesting if her chrome had a tactical effect... like maybe it reflects blaster rounds.

That would also be a problem too (in my mind) because if it could do that, why not have all of the Storm Troopers wear chrome? Anyway I hope to see her actually DO things this time around that set her apart, and that maybe we get some insight as to why her outfit is what it is.

 

if i understand it correctly, her chrome suit is made from some important Naboo royal/Imperial/something or other flagship or whatever (i'm too lazy to look it up).

the point being that yes, the metal might be special in some way, but also very rare.
additionally, it's function is partly ceremonial: it's about reclaiming/appropriating something of the past Empire.
much like the FO officer's memorial bands.

I don't feel like I need a whole lot of Phasma in TLJ. Sorry, but they lost me in TFA when it comes to her. A couple of meaningful scenes will be OK, but I don't want them to fix the character at all cost by spending screen time for some significant developments. There's already a lot on the plate with other subplots.

I hope that Phasma's humiliation and vulnerability will be acknowledged in the story. She has to prove herself now. No viewer will take her badassery at face value anymore, so it would be smart to take her helmet off and highlight the human inside the armor.

 

Since we know that Captain Phasma fashioned her armor from the chromium of one of Palpatine's Naboo yachts....

I have a THEORY.

How would Captain Phasma gain access to a Royal Naboo yacht? Why would she idolize Palpatine and his chromium starship so much? Captain Phasma obviously hails from Naboo.

And not only does she drive a chromium Royal Naboo yacht herself, she has a cadre of stormmaidens who wear identical chrome robes. And, sometimes, they serve as her decoys.



So how did Captain Phasma escape the trash compactor on Starkiller Base? She didn't. Finn and co. imprisoned one of her decoys, and that's why she was so easy to take out.



Captain Phasma escaped Starkiller Base on her Royal Naboo yacht, accompanied by her remaining four First Order stormmaidens.

 

Phasma = Amidala confirmed!!

 

Interesting theory. My question would be why would she feel the need for a decoy for a random walk on Starkiller which as an FO base. Also, would decoy know how to shut down the shields, would they know that info?

 

A few days ago, Marvel published a Phasma comic, which answers the question about how she survived the last minutes of TFA.

If you recall, my original theory was: she doesn't escape the trash compactor. It saves her from the blast, as ANH established that trash compactors were bullet-proof (and Indiana Jones had used a fridge to survive an atomic bomb). Science aside, the Marvel comic disagreed with me unfortunately:

"...she [Phasma] gets out of the trash compactor with the aid of the Resistance bombers blowing a huge hole in it."

Why would she disable the shields after she escapes from the trash compactor?
