    I have a fundamental problem with Kenobi's hermit robes being turned into the official and easily recognizable jedi uniform by PT, but that 'damage' done, MAN is it good to see an image of Luke! My uneducated guess is that this depicts some prestine version of Luke, like a hologram or pre-exile, and that we'll see another, more tattered look for him too. Great stuff! I'm so excited for TFA! :D

    I know you all are "with the words of Shmi - complete", but I´m asking myself - why this venerable old jedi master robe? For the padawans? For the audience? For the exile-cave? Or it is just a coincidence and this is just the style Luke prefer these days? I would expect ordinary comfortable, not Tatooine look like clothing. This robe makes sense if there´s new jedi order or if Luke has a significant position in the galaxy/Resistance...

    Why can't the cameras be for a photo shoot? Or, what if that was taken early on to test lighting on the clothes and such. Many costumes and creatures look out of place without the proper lighting and camera angles, stating this I have the Predator or Alien creatures in mind. I do like the idea of a Hologram message, though I don't want that to be the only scene.

    Regarding the multiple outfits, wasn't there rumors months ago about another young actor playing a younger Luke? Maybe that scene was a different actor, as Luke in a flashback.

    Even if it's mocap, he's standing on a small platform. Not much movement is going to happen. I think they mocap or scan everyone. I would think any holograms or force ghost type effects would be added in post production.

    Hmm...I might be imagining things but didn't they have to alter the costume colors when they were holograms/force ghosts in the original films so they would look right when bluified? Maybe I am mixing info from some other movie here.

    It's used to make an accurate 3D model with textures of him. It can be used for Toys, Digital Stunt Doubles, Video Games etc...

    You have me convinced that's what was going on, but I still wonder when this was taken then. I do think he looks a little "thicker" than I was expecting, and how he thinned out for a while for other events within the past year.
