What if I told you Luke had an affair with a pupil and she fell to the darkside? She planned to kill Kylo for Snoke but Luke fought her. Snoke used a hologram of this to lure Kylo against his (unbeknownst) father. There's a power / role reversal where Luke reveals he's Kylo's father, inverting the dynamic from ESB.

Or, you know, homeboy's got an Academy.

 

Really? I'm pleasantly suprised at how good they've made him look, he's looked in awful state lately.

Getting close to 70 is a lot like taking a corner at 70 on a motorcycle... you lean a little more, but if you hold on tight it's still a fun ride

Looks to me like they are capturing a 3D image of Hamill.

Could be for use within the film, but I can't see how (maybe this is the prefered method to smothering an actor in plaster when a practical mold is needed these days); but it seems more likely this shoot would be to capture his likeness for a toy or sculpture - some piece of merchandise...

 

Just a couple more cameras in that article than I see in the Luke image...

That being said... the image of Leia in general's gear that appeared briefly was almost certainly a very high res rendering... whether it was being gathered for CGI work on the movie or for a video game that is already being worked on remains to be seen...

The Luke image, however, had the feel of a "promo shot" to me, though... however any speculation has an equal chance of being correct

 

I agree...

But at the same time, there can't be that many promotional shoots that require four simultaneous DSLR shots of Hamill from the each possible direction. That camera set up is for creating a three dimensional impression of an object or person - for whatever purpose that may be.
It may just be an archival thing. Whle we can, lets store a 3D model of Luke in this outfit - you never know when Lucasfilm may need it in the future...
