I've been fortunate enough to have a quick look around some of the desert of Jakku (down near Saudi Arabia/Oman) and I was amazed how much sand get's blown into houses. I forsee a lot of sand in those boots.

 

No I mean she is Ren and they are Knights of her. I have a few variations on the same theory, but one would be a twisted Seven Samurai type of story.
Knights of Ren were originally Jedi Knights and Luke was the mentor. The academy was being attacked by clans and this led to conflict between Luke and the Jedi Knights.
The final straw was clan attacking and kidnapping Ren. The Jedi Knights leave Luke's academy and form the Knights of Ren. They turn away from Jedi ideals and embrace the darkside.
They take the name Knights of Ren because of what happened to Ren and a 4 year old child called Ren could easily become "rey" and easily end up abandoned on Jakku.
Luke would go into exile because hope is lost and he would blame himself too.
Then when Rey meets Luke it is very significant without the need for a family connection.
The Vader cult that came after makes sense because Vader would have wiped out those clans even before he "turned".
There is the Vader way and the Luke way. Knights of Ren embrace the Vader way and believe they are doing the right thing, which is something Driver mentioned.

Jedi Knights of Luke's New Jedi Order becomes Knights of Ren and The First Order.

 

Disney infinity just confirmed one of the biggest plot rumors, ending to the movie, big big spoilers.

For me MSW is all but confirmed.

Look who have the lightsaber in the ending of the movie, in a split second, totally hidden from the general audience

I'm actually extremely excited to watch Daisy grow into the movie. I get the feeling she is going to get better and better as the minutes tick by in the theater

 

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT

The rumor that we won’t see Luke Skywalker’s face until the final moments of the film has been around for months. With other rumored plot points being confirmed, and the release of the soundtrack listings, this ending is becoming more and more inevitable. In a movie that has been made such to please a passionate fan of the original trilogy, this has been the one thing that many OT fans have been really frustrated about for two reasons:

• There is no Luke
• The original big 3 may not reunite (specifically if Han gets killed).

People believe that having the big 3 not meet back up does no justice to the movie and it goes against having the big 3 in the movie in the first place. People view that the big 3 MUST meet each other in the movie in order to honor their characters. I somewhat agree with these people. It DOES stink that they may not meet each other. HOWEVER, I don’t think that this premise justifies that this will be a movie that does the original trilogy no justice; nor do I think this will make TFA a terrible movie. In fact, while it will stink, the movie we are actually getting is a more grounded, realistic, and stronger movie – one that will provide controversy among our society and will be critically viewed for the rest of our lives.

The Cliffhanger
People still view The Empire Strikes back as one of the greatest cliffhanger endings of all time. We find out in the most controversial plot twist of all time that our protagonist is the son of the antagonist; our supporting hero has been frozen; our hero’s have actually lost a ton of casualties and confidence; we have no idea what will unfold; and the credits roll. I think in the development process, J.J. and Kasdan asked, “How can we make this movie as controversial as TESB?”

The solution was by having the greatest hero of our saga show up and then cutting us off. It is something that will make people want to pull their hair. Our blood pressures will be off the charts and instantaneously drop like a void in our heart. This will be the most controversial ending of a movie in all of film history. Our main protagonist will find her mentor to help save the entire galaxy and we don’t find out how it happens…at least not for 17 months.


The Story
The story here is clearly focused on our new heroes. The rumor that Michael Arndt was fired because his story did not have enough of the big 3 either was a complete lie, or the characters were literally in the background the way characters like Saesee Tin and Shaak Ti were to the Jedi Council. Yet all three of our heroes are front and center in the story of this movie. ALL THREE. The whole point of the this story is that Luke is a myth. He is the Hercules, the Gilgamesh, the Beawulf. He is a legend that has been past on to this generation. So the plot of the film revolves around Luke Skywalker even more so than Han and Leia – even when Mark Hammill is not around.

But I’ve noticed that J.J. has stolen a page or two from the Walking Dead. He is taking a main character (Han), significantly increasing his role and his presence, and implying his downfall. This is the best way to pay tribute to this character. Furthermore, what is nice about this situation is when our heroes meet him and find out “It’s true…all of it,” a sense of hope is found – that out there among the stars may be our legendary warrior.


Episode VIII
At the end of this film, our hero finds her master and the credits roll. What is nice about this is I believe Episode VIII picks up exactly where this film has left off. With 32 years between trilogies, I find it hard to believe a lot of time will pass between VII and VIII – if any. We will get to watch Luke be a culmination of the Jedi order and do the things he needs to do in order for our protagonist to face the greatest threats this galaxy has ever faced.

Thus, rejoice for this controversial ending. We could be totally wrong. But if this is how the movie ends, it is actually for the best and will provide great things to come.

 

You, my friend, are about to make a lot of enemies, but I DO like your post, item makes sense, from a certain point of view .

 

You can bet your butt that disney would not take this big a leap if not for the incredible story arc represented by all 3 movies.
They didn't exclude luke from the movie to be controversial. They did it to create stakes.
Jj and larry knew that if they put luke in the movie from frame 1, then we would never develop the passion for the new characters. We would simply want to know how powerful luke was and watch him thrash someone.

Heck - i have read it a hundred times on this site. People wanting luke to step in and save the day.
But he's not likely to.
What good would it do FOR THE STORY? e.g., why did obi-wan die in a new hope?
Classic screenwriting here, folks. Luke is the mcguffin. And i, for one, am not pre-judging.

I don't doubt any of the "mechanisms" i have been reading about, regarding luke's absence.
Whatever reason they use, we have 3 movies to see it play out.

 

I think the big thing is I respect the passion of fans that are outraged and that they have every right to be. But the big thing is I'm trying to be open to other ideas and understand that there are many different angles this movie could have been made. Also I want others to understand why this angle may have been chosen.

 

Great post and great point of view. I think all of us would love to see a proper reunion of the big 3 but I for one am not beholden to it. I follow the spoilers pretty heavily so I think I know what may happen, but I'm not beholden to them either. I'm super excited about this movie and I'm going into it with an open mind. If I get the movie I think we will see then I will enjoy seeing the fine details, execution and the performances that bring it all together and hopefully I'll enjoy it. If I get something totally different, I will enjoy being surprised and I'll still enjoy seeing the fine details,performances and the execution while hopefully enjoying it. If the execution and the performances suck then I'll likely be disappointed but I have not seen anything yet that disappoints me.

 

Luke will be in the film more than two seconds..... Don't worry !
