Sorry I'm not native.. was Anakin after his transformation to Vader able to have other kids? So could it be that ray is vaders granddaughter but not a descent from padme? Because her technical interests and abilities refers directly to Anakin.. Grandpa Vader and unknown parents (with one of them being a kid from Vader) would be my favorite..

 

She's a pilot (therefore Han Solo likes her, she knows the Falcon like he does)
She has technical skills (Han Solo likes her, she knows the Falcon like he does, but she also knows her way around Starkiller Base "The girl knows her stuff)
She is Force sensitive
The Skywalker theme plays when she uses the force and when she takes the lightsaber
Luke/Anakin's saber calls to Rey
Han knows who she is (if he would be her father, why didn't he tell her?)
Leia knows who she is (novel)
Kylo Ren knows who she is (THE girl)

Is Rey a Skywalker? I would pretty pissed if they would say she is a Solo, because that just wouldn't fit.

 

It could be both, and I reckon if the storyline provides a good reasoning behind her origins, fine with me.

Lightsaber calling to her? It was Anakin's before Luke's. Skywalker's Theme? It's the Force theme, who played for Obi-Wan in the prequels.

How do you say Han knows who she is?

 

Let's just assume Rey is 8 years old when she was left on Jakku. I'm basing this on the age of the actress that played her. That kind of shakes up the timeline. It's also difficult to believe that an 8 year old girl doesn't remember her family (adopted or not).

 

It's already established she was 5, she is 19 in the movie, that is Canon the age of the actress in a movie is irrelevant to the character's age.

 

I've seen it repeated over and over. Is her age mentioned in the visual dictionary? Or the novel?

The only thing I can find on Google is that Daisy says Rey was 5, but that's hardly canon.

 

well technically, the original 'force' theme is always associated with the Skywalkers. For Obi Wan in the prequels it only played when it had something to do with either Anakin, but most prominently when he hands Luke over to Lars and Owen Beru.

Even though it is called 'The Force theme' it is always used in connection with the Skywalker lineage.

As for Han know who she is: it is subtext in the dialogue and Han's interaction with Rey. Furthermore, when Maz asks Han who the girl is, the scene is cut.

As for the lightsaber calling to Rey: it is in the movie. Maz says so after she explains Rey whose lightsaber it was. And I know it was Anakin's saber before Luke's.

 

A lot of hints in both directions. As Snoke said: "We shall see. We shall see."

I think Anakin was one of the force prophets (people with extremely high potential in the force) who could do a lot of good for the galaxy. But he was also human with strong emotions and problems to let beloved go. Therefore he failed to fulfill the expectations of the dogmatic Jedi order. But Rey as the one who seem to have as high potential as her grandfather, has the chance to complete a Anakin's mission, to triumph over another old prophet that has failed completely, evil snoke. And therefore its not important who exactly her daddy is, because she has - so far- her heart on the right place to make the right decisions, when she has to fight her human instincts for revenge when she faces the enemy. Luke knows how to do so. She could get no better mentor. So if you see it in context with the mythological background story arc, she is part of the "good side" of the force family with two strong father figures, redeemed Anakin and great luke, who showed how to face tragedies and- hopefully-nevertheless stays always on the right side of the road with one goal: Defeat the evil where and how ever you can. Rey took the sword and continues his quest.. as daughter of the right side of the force!

 

Yes the visual dictionary says 19 ys old Rey.

Now her age when she was dropped was told by both JJ Abrams and Daisy Ridley in the press tour as 5 ys old, and nobody from Star Wars story team said otherwise, is a safe assumption that both the Director and the actress who play the lead in the movie would know this details.

 

I think tha shed remember the face regardless, maybe she'd forgotten what Luke LOOKS like ?

 

I think we all make two big mistakes when trying to figure this out.

We assume she was "dropped off" of Jakku. Nothing has stated she was dropped off. She was left or abandoned, but that doesn't mean she was dropped off. Many of you are seeing the scene with the ship as her being dropped off. All I see is a ship leaving and her crying while being held back by Unkar Plutt. She stated herself that she's never left the planet and that she didn't know there was so much green in the whole galaxy (when viewing Takodana). Why would the writers add those bits of information? Just to mislead?

We also assume the "family" she is waiting for is her actual blood relatives. She probably has images of her "family" in her head, but that doesn't mean it was Luke or Ben Solo or Leia, etc. She is most likely related to the Skywalkers, but her family that left her may have been her adopted family or guardians.

If we take out these two assumptions, it opens up a lot of possibilities.

 

I'm not discussing, dropped, abandoned, kidnapped, my point on this post was about her age only, and both Daisy and JJ were clear on this, 5 years old.

Your post makes a lot of sense, but i wasn't discussing these other aspects of her lineage possibilities just her age in the flashback scene.

Now to your points, if we can all agree the 5 ys old timeline is correct, i don't think there's nothing that can lead us to believe otherwise.

5 ys old is fairly young to have clear memories about anything, i'm 36 and i remember too few things when i was 5, if you can Bravo and good for you, i can't.

Also she never said she never left the planet, she said she never Flight off the planet, too different things.

The green thing can easily be explained if the planet were Luke had the Jedi academy were arid like Mustafah or something like that, she only saw 2 planets in her life before TFA, Jakku and the Jedi Academy planet let's think about that possibility.
