Official Rey Episode VIII thread

You're right, she seems to have some abilities that she's gravitating towards. I don't think we've seen Luke do a mind trick, but he can make items fly through the air (ice cave on Hoth).

 

The Jedi mind trick could be something she heard about. Stories.

Rey obviously has a past which gets awakened but once the stories about it all goes past myth to truth it does something inside her.

I bet she has heard about all kinds of things;Vader, Obi Wan, Luke, the force and all of it. Then Han re-affirms that it's all true.

And I agree about when Kylo probed her mind it just unlocked things even further. To me it is a process.

She's never met a resistance fighter, she's been aboard star destroyers, wears a pilot helmet, lives in an AT-AT, believes Luke is a myth, but once Finn arrives it awakens her to truths.

All that she's heard becomes real.

 

I am completly on your side. Yellow and shiny as reflection of her positive mood. I don't mind wether it's single or double.
Her stick hints to double, Luke's teachings could lead to a single blade.

Yup. Luke's lightsaber will be the old green one from ROTJ. One green, one blue, one red.

I bet you that, at least one point during ROTS production, George was annoyed that he'd pre-determined that both Anakin and Obi-Wan needed to have blue lightsabers during their duel.

When Rey Met Jyn: Daisy Ridley Reveals What She and Fellow 'Star Wars' Star Felicity Jones Discussed Over Tea



The two biggest action heroes in the rebooted Star Wars universe have connected. Daisy Ridley, who became a worldwide star for her fierce portrayal of Rey in The Force Awakens, was in Los Angeles Tuesday promoting the new documentary The Eagle Huntress (which she executive produced and narrates) when Yahoo Movies asked her thoughts about the saga’s upcoming spin-off, Rogue One, starring Felicity Jones.

“I’m very excited to see it,” Ridley said before volunteering the following, voice rising in excitement. “I had a drink with Felicity a few weeks ago, she’s super cool!”

Ridley, whose Force Awakens PR tour found her globetrotting everywhere from Seoul to Mexico City, said she met her fellow Brit, appropriately enough, for a cup of tea. And Ridley admitted there’s a hint of envy in seeing Jones (who plays the rebel leader Jyn Erso in Rogue One) prepare to embark on her own Star Wars adventure.

“It was weird, I’ve talked so much retrospectively about what was going on [in the lead-up to Force Awakens]. It was so odd to be reliving it. And she gets to go talk about this film that she’s part of in all these amazing places. I feel like ‘jealous’ is the wrong word, but I had such a good time in the run-up to the film, and it was all so exciting. Knowing that she’s experiencing that is so great. Plus the film’s meant to be amazing, so it’s a fantastic continuation of the Star Wars world.”

Ridley, 24, however, felt no need to dole out advice to the Oscar-nominated Jones (The Theory of Everything), 33. “Oh God, I didn’t give her tips,” she said. “She’s like a proper human being. She’s got everything nailed… We just talked about our filmmaking experiences. And I’ve been a huge fan of hers for a long time. Have you ever met her? She’s so great. So just to chill was really nice.”

Asked if she sees any similarities between Jyn Erso and Rey, whom fans and media have speculated could be mother and daughter, Ridley said little to support that hypothesis. “I don’t know. That’ll be interesting when I see [Rogue One]. But I don’t watch things and think in that way. So I think I’m just gonna watch it and be blown away.”

How/why she got involved with The Eagle Huntress. Didn't set out to be an executive producer. She's usually approached about books but this is the first time for a movie. About using her name to reach a bigger audience.

Initially confused about the Mary Sue tag on Rey. Thinks it's a sexist remark. That some of the mean comments were irrational. Believes in genuine criticism but the overall response to Rey has been overwhelmingly positive.

JJ emailed her a few days ago and told her he met someone that named their baby after Rey. Thought that was cool.

Cried during A Monster Calls trailer. Can't wait to see the film.

Big fan of Felicity Jones. How they met on the Rogue One set. A bit about their meeting, the press tour, and the impression she left on her after meeting her.

She may return to IG next year but is clearly happy without it right now. The gun post played a part in that but mostly about her needing to grow up and not worry about social media at this time.

Auditioned for MOTOE and happy she got it though doesn't feel worthy with all the actors involved. Big Kenneth Branagh fan. Hamilton too. Can't wait to work with Leslie Odom Jr. She's nervous as this is the first role since Star Wars.

She's excited about the variety of projects she's got lined up next year. Nothing specific mentioned but it was plural.

She's in tune with US politics. Brexit was horrendous and sympathizes with what's going on in the US right now. She loves America.

They started to talk about her working with Barbara Streisand but it kinda flowed into her belief that everything happens for a reason. Timing is everything. She auditioned for a movie about a month ago with a director she really wants to work with but didn't get it. Sad about it but believes it wasn't meant to be.

Obsessed with Stranger Things and wants to be friends with Millie Bobby Brown.

Wants to see Sing Street.

Thought The Boss was hilarious.

Loved working with Harrison and Mark. Both have such different energies.

Kelly Marie Tran has a crucial role in episode 8.

Rey has a big journey in episode 8.

Who do you guys think will rey be pitted against in the end? Snoke or Kylo ren? who will be Luke against?I think it will be snoke vs rey and ren vs Luke .although i would prefer the other way round.

 

I think Rey will be facing Kylo again, as well as his Knights of Ren, together with Luke, but I believe they will go towards RotJ solution, saving confrontation with Snoke until the last movie.
