Official Rey Episode VIII thread

Put simply, with a saber you cut and slice- and that's exactly what a laser does. Straight swords are great for chopping and thrusting.

 

With TFA people were talking about Rey being like a Mary Sue: perfect at everything with no faults. But it seemed when Kylo was probing her mind, it looked like Rey was just putting disguising the fact she was hurting inside.

Maybe in TLJ, we'll see that she does have weaknesses and what they might be??

 

Some strange things going on at gallardobroadcast. They said they were doing something with Mark and Daisy. They even posted a picture of Daisy having her make up done then they mysteriously locked and closed there account. Not sure why.

As Chloe Bruce [Star Wars VIII (Stunt Double: Daisy Ridley)] was in Dubrovnik during the filming with other stunt doubles and there were sets at Pinewood tied to that filming, it still could suggest that Rey's character is there even without Ridley going to Dubrovnik (for something beyond an interactive flashback again). Progressing to the city (whatever Dubrovnik is) from the country (Ahch-To) would be like Looper in reverse.

 

Rey as a character needs to be tested and disoriented; as we leave TLJ it's important that Rey is positioned at her lowest point, so that she might rise and claim herself in Episode IX. This film needs to challenge who Rey is, what she is, and why she is doing this, just what exactly she believes in. TFA gave us a character who had obtained victory, discovery and a home, now these things must be put to the grind and Rey left in a difficult situation.

Obviously the conflict between Rey and Ben will be a necessary focal point and catalyst, leaving Ben to be destroyed a part of her arc.

 

Word on the street is that work has started on IX.

 

I think it's mostly because of this fakey-looking casting call website.

 

Haven't come across that before. I live near Pinewood and get the odd rumour (about once a year!) from people who should know what they're talking about...

 

It may be the case but it is quite surprising, especially if you take into consideration Carrie Fisher's unfortunate passing, timing of TLJ's production and the fact that we will have a SW Celebration in 2019, which happen between April and August, meaning that Episode IX for 99.9% comes out in December. I just don't understand the rush.

 

I suppose it's possible that they're just doing some sort of preliminary work, but that gallardobroadcast thing ties in well with what I heard. Can't say any more because I don't know any more!
