I honestly am starting to feel like, every opportunity to do something new and meaningful with each character they don't. This is another example of it. Maybe there's a reason for it, but I would love to see either a white LS and/or a double sided LS for her. I am increasingly of the belief that I will see neither.

Have you seen TLJ? I don't think so. Do you know how will the story play out? Me neither. Do you have absolute certainty of what will happen in Episodes VIII and IX? No, you don't. What you're doing right now like complaining that Luke uses his father's lightsaber in Episode V and that he didn't get a new one despite the time passage between ANH and TESB. It didn't stop him from losing it and getting a new one in RotJ. Building your own lightsaber is an essential part of becoming a Jedi and I would be shocked if Rey doesn't create her own one. Besides, think of it from purely cynical, business perspective - by the release of Episode IX most of the people who are interested in getting the legacy lightsaber would have already bought it. By creating a new one, they would have a new toy to sell. Moreover, even if Rey still has Anakin's lightsaber by the end of The Last Jedi, that doesn't mean she cannot use it alongide a second one. So, just wait for the story to unfold.

    So...

I'm assuming that you haven't seen TLJ or know how the story will play out either. We are all speculating. Relax.

    why? What is the point?

There is a reason. Gimmicky isn't relevant to the story, but Anakin's lightsaber is.

You don't think they could write relevance into a change of a LS? I mean, is this not what they just did with Kylo's initial LS with cross guard?

So it was gimmicky when Luke got his own Lightsaber?

Not sure why people are surprised they dont want to do anything interesting.

The only thing interesting thing this ST looks likely to do is more diverse casting and a female force sensitive lead.

And for some reason they want to artificially restrict the Force and its related paraphernalia.

Seems your only interesting add to the ST is to be anti-female.

I think Rey will at least keep Luke's blue saber for The Last Jedi. I would like to see her possibly have a double-bladed yellow saber made from her staff by the time IX roles around, though. Collider's Jedi Council has consistently observed that Rey always makes a point to keep that around.

Not sure what my post you are quoting has to do with me being anti-female.

I want Rey to make her own lightsaber like every other Jedi or Force User.
Plus I like to see a double bladed lightsaber used by a good character or a force pike (spear).

I am anti the supposed Black Male Lead getting treated like Bantha Poop in comparison to the White Female Lead.

Rey will lose the Saber along with her hand just like her Granfather and Father did.

I think as her character develops, Rey will ultimately construct her own lightsaber. I always imagined it white or yellow, finally introducing a new color to the canon films.

Rey's new look made no appearance in the Teaser Trailer (understandably). I do wonder if she acquires the new look at the very end of the 3rd Act or is it something that happens with an impromptu graduation from training with Luke.

I assume it be third act...mostly because I dont see her changing her clothes on Luke's Island unless she brought some clothes on the MF.

I'm sure she gets its earlier than at the very end, probably around the half way point of the film, most likely when she escapes Ahch-to. This is probably also the point when Luke gets his new robes as well.

I guess it depends on what the pair discovers at the First Temple. Perhaps clothing is discovered. Rey has a set of clothes heavily inspired by Jedi, so I feel like she must obtain them on Ahch-To, and probably from Luke. In that same respect, I imagine Luke has spare clothes.

It would be really cool if some future Jedi maybe Rey, could find Jyn Erso's kyber crystal and use it? It is an artifact buried on the planet with Jyn's remains. It was likely special or even powerful as her dad picked it out among all he had at his disposal?

It was actually the very opposite of special. In Rebel Rising no one on Wobani, which was, after all, a prison planet, took it from her because it was highly impure and didn't look too much like a Kyber crystal.

I wish to God that Abrams and Kasdan had never brought that old lightsaber back into the story in the first place. What was the point? For nostalgia? How stupid.

Its a very common element in myth stories - the sword of the father/family being passed down, being a symbol of power or authority.

Its the most........special weapon in Star Wars, its featured in both the PT and OT - now its found its way to another hero.
