Well, you never know. Many Bothans could have died this time around, too, but just didn't get top billing at the strategy session. Maybe it was just a couple of them- it does look like a lot of folks are biting it in this movie.

I was wondering about that, too. Although would that contradict the comic books? Poe's parents are in there, but I don't know much else about it.

I think she's too old to be Rey's, but not Poe's. That would be cool. I like all the little pieces to fit together, it makes these spinoff movies seem more a part of a GFFA if there's a lot of overlap with the stories and characters. If it makes sense, that is.
That last shot makes me think she might be related to someone on the Dark Side, though. It'll be interesting to see where she ends up.

 

Someone above did state to correct me,actually, that Poe's mom has already been introduced as Shara Bey but "Jyn Erso" could just be her name prior to joining The Rebels similar to how Rey is a probable alias.

 

TPTB do like their surprises, and characters seem to get their names changed at times. SO it wouldn't surprise me. I'd like that.

 

It isn't a TIE fighter pilot uniform though, because of the differences in the chest plate:



It's very similar. But the two rods on her back indicate it's a new kind of Imperial trooper, perhaps an Imperial Devil Stickstm Trooper and she's headed to a Renaissance Fair or a Phish concert.

 

Shara looks nothing like Felicity Jones at all. Kerry Washington or Rosario Dawson would be more appropriate casting choices for her.

It's those knobs on the right plus the belt that make me think it's something else.

Perhaps a very similar task type of trooper, but not specifically a TIE pilot. We are going to see so many new kinds of troops/crew in this film. My action figure shelf is already sagging in anticipation!

 

Lol. Next rumor is that Diego Luna plays Poe's dad just because they are wearing a similar jacket lol.

 

lol that already is a rumor (I think) because Diego Luna has similar facial features and stuff as Poe dameron does.

 

I'm interested in Donnie Yen's character. As far as I'm aware the unarmed fighting style of Teräs Käsi was thrown out with the rest of the EU stuff, but I wonder if this is Disney cherry picking from the old EU and introducing a similar concept?

 

Dang. Now that the "Diego Luna is Biggs Darklighter" theory was growing on me lol.

Anyhow, just for my benefit, invite Oscar Isaac to the movie premiere and have him and Diego speaking Spanish - and throwing some typical Latin American idiomatic expressions (one is Mexican and the other is from Guatemala raised in Miami) Lol.

The reason as to why I think that The Biggs Darklighter Theory Wouldn't work is because I believe that he joins the academy right at the begininning of ANH right after the deleted scenes come into play which is why Luke is nagging his uncle about going to the academy and Biggs joins up with the rebellion and defects from The Empire At some point during the movie .

Agree, I know there is a deleted scene when Biggs tells Luke he is joining the Rebellion, and that is supposed to happen right after Luke tells him and other friends about the ships having a battle right there in the Tattoine system orbit (the Tantive IV being boarded by Vader and then destroyed, I guess). So by then the plans have already been captured by the Rebels. I guess it's more about the similar looks.

I've said it in another thread, but not here: I believe she is wearing the same uniform as our favorite ISB Agent Kallus. I also find it no coincidence that we have only our second Imp now in any film to be in a white uniform. The other was Admiral Yularen, the head of the ISB.

Personally, i think the ISB is the organization she ends up infiltrating and getting the plans from.

 

I remember reading that now. I hope this is true. It'd be a great tie-in with Rebels.

 

The Tantive IV is captured by The Star Destroyer's Tractor Beams instead of being destroyed although it could have easily been destroyed at a later time.
