Just watch the trailer a few minutes ago.Look nice and cool to me.Love it!!!
I just see Felicity Jones in this trailer and she remember me Emilia Clarke.
Emilia was great in Terminator Genisys.I have a feeling that Felicity will be GREAT in Rogue One.
Crazy to see the next new trailer and this movie...:).

Meh. In no way, shape or form does this excite me like the saga films. It'll be a good movie I'm sure, but I certainly didn't get excited by any of that trailer.

One more observation, and I wonder if it's just me or if there are others feeling the same way:

Rogue One looks stylistically more like TFA than the other episodes.

Looks like another girrrl power!! vehicle dictated by Kathleen Kennedy

I'm not buying it. It makes zero sense that the rebellion would hire some newb girl to lead a bunch of mercs to steal the Death Star plans.

Becoming more and more wary that Disney is letting identity and gender politics dictate the storyline of these new movies.

The evolution of camera techniques, lighting, special effect, and everything else that goes into a movie contributes to that. They are keeping one foot in the past, as they are fond of saying, but they don't want these movies to look like they were made in the 70s/80s.

Because it makes more sense if they hire some random guy?
It's simply a way to introduce the audience to the Rebellion. I mean they could have just dropped us into characters that are all already part of the Alliance, but this is a way to ease us into it (hint: it's the exact same thing that Luke did for us in ANH).

I agree for the most part. I actually think that most of the ships look more OT in style, but in general it's fairly obviously a modern movie and thus skews more towards TFA in that respect.

I thought the trailer was fantastic!
It's like being a little kid again....for years I have always wondered how they got the plans....
I use to play with all my star wars toys and enact the "other" stories that we heard about in New Hope.....spies stealing the plans, clone wars....my childhood dreams are coming true, and I can't complain!!!

Your statement is exactly how I feel. I was hoping to get a shot of a legacy alien (Rhodian,Twi'lek,Duros, Wookie,Ithorian). So far everything we see is human. Star Wars is a GFFA, part of the magic is the other worldly creatures. I know I will love this film. I think part of it is that I fell in love with the Disney XD Star Wars Rebels characters. It would be sad to see that there is no mention of the SW Rebels characters or Easter egg of the Ghost ship in Rogue One since the timeline is so close together. I hope Darth Vader show ups towards the end of the movie to unleash his power on these Rebels. I will be seeing this movie on its first day of its release as well.

But allowing some newb farm boy to blow up the Death Star DOES make sense to you, right?

We've had SIX of these films with a male main hero/overwhelmingly male main cast. TFA still had an overwhelmingly male main cast, and THIS movie looks like it has an overwhelmingly male main cast. So forgive me if the whole "oh no, SJW's are ruining everything" arguments aren't all that convincing to me.

    Anyway:

Ben Mendelsohn looking EPIC with his white cape/Grand Admiral uniform combo. Please let him have scenes with Vader, the contrast would look so cool.

Jyn seems cool, and more Han Solo-esque than even I thought.

Mon Mothma looks spot-on, and I'm glad to see her hear.

Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker look good.

    etc.

All in all, for a teaser, it was quite good.

Letting some newb farmboy destroy the Death Star, on the other hand, makes perfect sense.

There will always be some people that don't like for movies to have a women in the lead role. Nothing to be done about that.

I agree with your point about providing an entry point for the audience - and I also think they are deliberately using tropes familiar to heist movies or say The Dirty Dozen. This movie is a blending of genres, and it appears they want audiences to understand that without having to spend a lot of time on exposition.

    1) Lol heard some people keeping that theory. We shall see.
    2) That would be cool but dunno. Both Filoni and Edwards said they would keep each story separated, so I would not expect to see Star Wars Rebels characters in Rogue One.
    3) Mon Mothma was one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance. In the Legends, there were three leaders: Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and Bel Iblis. If this happens immediately before ANH, it is feasible to think Mon Mothma helped coordinating stealing the Death Star plans while Bail Organa was getting the other part of the plan - getting the Tantive IV with his adoptive daughter to receive the Rebel transmissions and get to Tatooine to pick up General Kenobi. And since we have seen a fair share of Bail Organa in Rebels I am glad they chose Mon Mothma to be part of this story.
    4) I don't know how this will connect to Rebels. So far in Season 2 Rebels have helped to set a Rebel base in Atollon - this happening approximately 3-4 before ANH - but then we know that before Yavin, there was Dantooine as hidden Rebel base. Hopefully in the movie they mention the Ghost crew or the Phoenix squadron but one thing we have to keep in mind is that our Rebels were one of a lot of Rebel cells across the Galaxy.

Agree. So what's the matter if there is a female leader? Anyhow, people would complain if it was the other way (a male character leading this operation.

Again, I would like it a lot if it happens but we have to remember the Rebel Alliance was "too well equipped, they're more dangerous than you realize." (as General Tagge would say in ANH).

Here's the deal plain and simple friends....

    1. For years and years movies and society have been driven by males. This is true.
    2. Disney/ Kathleen Kennedy are intentionally making some of the new leads in the movies/comics female. This is true.

If you don't like number 2 then don't go see the movie. My point is that if you deny either of the two statements I've made you are lying to yourself. The new Star Wars films and comics intentionally have new female leads/characters because of the lack thereof in the past. Also a wider variety of ethnicity. If that isn't something you are into then by all means sit the new stuff out.

For those of you who don't mind it I just ask the you acknowledge the fact that it IS intentional.

I personally don't mind it at all.

I actually got a strong Sarah Michelle Gellar from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' vibe. Especially with her sassy delivery of that "I rebel" line.

I love it. I think it looks incredible.
