interesting. the other day i was watching return of the jedi on the commentary reel and George hinted that the Ewoks might be primitive ancestor of the Wookiee's. anything is possible in SW.

I've always liked the idea of the Journal of the Whills, and wished more was made of it. I'd be awfully surprised to see it in TFA. It will forever be relegated to a single mention in the A New Hope novelization.

In the Return of the Jedi compilation archive commentary, when Yoda is about to die, George mentions that he learned the secret of the Whills that allows him to retain his identity in the force after death. It would be cool to see this mysticism return in full force.

Okay so I think that can still work...

In Yoda's arc where he learns about being a Force Ghost, he goes to the Force Priestess...right?

That group of force "brings" could easily be named "the Whills."

If anybody cared to do so.

The Whills certainly are a group steeped in lore and mystery... their inclusion in the ST, however, would require a fair amount of education on screen for the new viewers... of course, inclusion of any ancient race will require some amount of education, so their presence is about as likely as anyone else's

If there is a new order to rival the jedi version I would welcome it, provided the outcome of it losing was the case,

What if there is an uber-wise race like the Whills... and they do come back... and they don't like the way the Jedi have been doing things? What if the Whills are the new Sith?

The I would welcome them to, the jedi has many enemies in every timeline, they are a race that keep coming back no matter how many our wiped thats the way Lucas has made their role in the galaxy, it's protector.

For that matter, I watched all those episodes on Netflix with great enthusiasm, looked up info on them on the Wookieepedia, all that... and even I still need a bit of education on them.

Hm, I wouldn't like the thought of them being like the new Sith. Rather, what if they come back, and they are über-collectivists that take a middle-ground view of the Force, and see both the Sith and the Jedi as on the wrong side (and thus wicked)?

I'm not really talking about something to lead up to a Jedi-Sith collaboration, but something like a crusading "Force of Balance" to give them both a run for their money. I admit I'm kind stealing from the concept of The Dark Crystal for this. But I'm also going off that whole "full range of emotions" theme of "serenity, joy, anger, confusion, and sadness" to the Force priestesses.

I'd be happier than a middle-school girl at a Katy Perry concert if they addressed the enigmatic Whills. Growing up a Star Wars dude, I always wondered what the deal was with the Whills, so I'd be merrily on board.

I'd be merry. Hence, 'merrily'. Homie do I need to spell it out? I'd be happy....'merry'....get it? Dude, go your own way brah!

    DBH(epic fail)

It's probably more likely any info on the Whills will show up in non-film material.

I tend to agree with you on this... my feeling is that the Whills would be the "ones who write the reference books" type role

Perhaps the tomb or complex Luke guards is not Sith but Whills full of artifacts of historical significance.

    That's a really interesting idea ...

I was thinking of something along those lines. What if Serkis is from this group and adressing both Luke and Ren?

Interesting point about commentaries, etc. Presumably Disney will re-issue the PT and OT at some point; but will they maintain old commentaries, renew them with new cast, or get Lucas in to speak in line with new canon?

    Oh, what a mess....

good point. who knows what they will do. Fox still owns distribution rights so for now i think they will stay the same. on the set that i have there are 2 commentary reels. one is george lucas and ben burt, with whatever director did the film, the other is collected interviews by actors and crew chopped up for the specific scene.
