If it's the ending scene (or close to it, it actually lines up more with AOTC.

Btw, was I the only one that saw the "First Order" and went..."holy blast... @Bluestreaking is getting closer and closer to a third order?!"

Because I've always liked the idea and now we seem to be getting VERY close.

Thanks! That's very helpful. Of course, if the ST actually turns out to be more grey scaled than black/white (as many rumors indicate and which even Lucas described it as back in the 80s), the First Order might not be quite as ontologically evil as we might expect. Speculating wildly here, this could turn out to be a darkish-grey (The First Order) vs. a light-grey (Resistance) kind of thing, and if so it would be interesting if Leia started out as a leader in the order. Still, as people have pointed out, this might be too ambivalent for SW. Also, I saw Leia on the podium, but while Carrie Fisher is many things, but tall she is not :)

(And Yeah, the First Order looks rather Space Nazi-y, even more so than the original Empire, which Lucas designed deliberately to be Space Nazis, down to the costumes and weapons!)

Might be a scene similiar to the scene with the Red Skull and Hydra in Captain America. It might be the beginning of the "New" Empire or a major attack on the Alliance with a big pep talk.

I think it switches between WWI and WWII in general, grabbing from both for influence. Certainly though what we're seeing here leans more toward Third Reich than your standard German Empire.

If indeed that guy on the platform is 'Uber' - I want to know how him and Kylo have swooped in and taken over the 'First Order'.

Sidious rose to the top through the political ranks manipulating his way to the top - Anakin a general in the wars went to the top with him. Id be interested to see where Kylo and 'Uber' have come from and how they have gained their superior ranks within the First Order. I cant imagine the remaining officers of the Empire just allowing two more Sith to take over after the failiure of Vader and Sidious?

Anyone else thinking the same? Or have I missed something completely and going to end up looking like a fool for asking? Lol

It seems to me the "resistance" is a... semi-rogue republic cell that recognizes the fight is not quite over.

It would be an interesting dynamic were "Uber" to be a non-Sith or non-Force user who has somehow managed to get Ren to work under him. Not sure how that would work...

On the note of the Empire letting another Sith take over... did the Empire know that the Emperor was a Sith? Haven't read Tarkin so I don't know if there were any revelations there, but I do get the feeling that Palpatine never let it on to anyone that he was a Sith, instead letting Vader take that attention point.

So it could be another takeover by a Sith disguising himself as just another politician or possibly military commander.

I do enjoy theories containing fractured factions. Makes the galaxy all the more interesting to see groups splitting off and making separate peace treaties.

Im so intrigued by Kylo and Uber. Out of all the new characters, these are the two I need to know more about ASAP. Im a sucker for a bad guy to be honest. I suppose with regards to the name change from the Empire to the First Order, theres no Emperor anymore, so they cant call themselves an Empire

Can we take a moment to talk about the fact that the Logo ofthe First Order feels like a combo between the old Darksider Logos and the SWTOR imperial logo?

Certainly there are some similarities. I'm wondering... these things haven't been declared canon yet, have they? Still, they might call them canon or something based off of them canon at some point... perhaps "First Order" is actually noting that they're returning to their roots as with the first Sith empires?

Like someone said earlier, itseems like they are fetishizing the Sith, while it may have never come out in Palpies lifetime that he was Sith... Perhaps it is something that one imperial sect would learn later, and take advantage of.

maybe something along the lines of "the strength of the Sith built our empire, hiding that strength was its downfall, and their strength shall be ourfuture"

    or... something...

I like that sort of thinking. Reveling in the fact that they're Sith sounds nice... Perhaps we'd see Imperial officers... excuse me, First Order officers respecting agents like Ren not only because of fear, but because they truly respect the power they can wield.

The OT and especially TCW showed us that Republic/Imperial officers seemed to regard their abilities with a sense of contempt. It would be nice to see officers who actually idolize their Sith lords simply because of their abilities.

I like that fact that we have some faction names to use in discussion! And the First Order seems appropriate ruthless; even more so than the Empire.

Indeed. I grew weary of writing "Alliance/Republic/Whatever" when talking about them. :p

And I'd definitely love to see the First Order goes ruthless to a point we've only seen in non-film media so far. Order 66 was probably the worst we've seen, and that was pretty tame to some of the stuff in the non-film stories.

Yeah, to me "Resistance" implies a truce or peace deal was made, and the two forces were inherently different "countries" so to speak.

I get the vibe of the events somewhat mirroring the period between WWI and WWII. Alliance and Empire duke it out, Alliance deals a major blow to the Empire. Truce/peace signed, perhaps the Empire loses some systems and of course suffers massive humiliation. Economy of Imperial territories takes a tumble, things look bleak until a massively hardline faction gains control and makes things better due to massive rearmament and oppression of alien races. And then it's time to enact vengeance.

Thus the Resistance could be like the Poles or French of WWII: forces of a separate political entity that have been heavily invaded by the aggressors, and are fighting to keep their "countries" intact.

EDIT: Whoops - I had been looking at the first page and decided to reply to a comment I missed earlier. Forgot that I had just commented. Mods please merge :)

Anybody else wondering if "the First Order" is a reference to Sheev's first order of his reign? i.e. Order 66?
