She was lucky as I knew her from Leon where she was good, so she always had that...whereas poor Hayden...

 

Its ridiculous how people are spinning it. They say it as if Peter's only interaction with them is watching them act.. He is talking about their attitude to the work and off-set.

 

That cake looks amazing....I need to know where you get it from RIGHT NOW

 

If you like complex characters with goals and agency, yes, much better than Darth Glares-a-Lot. They ruined her in Episodes II and III, but Episode I's Padme Amidala is one of my favorite Star Wars character.

 

Well to each his own. But I forgot she was in that film...NOT GOOD AT ALL. Stiff, void of emotion and very forgettable performance. Again not entirely her fault, but she has to take some blame as she just did not make right acting choices despite what she was given.

 

If you know anything about acting you probably know it's a lot easier to make a great acting impression by playing the Joker than to simply look out into the distance. You know what ? This "look into the distance" scene is indeed great acting. Without any words, in 5 seconds, we get so much information. We totally get the character. THAT is great acting. Playing a clown is a lot easier. Don't get me wrong, Ledger did a phenomenal job.

 

If you want to go the silent route....then look at what the French actor did in The Artist. That IS great acting without saying any words.

And playing the Joker is actually a lot harder than you think, because it seems so easy from the outset. But in that teaser, what Ledger did was so unique and did not fall into the obvious routes of playing a "mad clown". He had a very original take on it.

I mean, it was just Ridley looking out into the distance...and maybe you got something from it which is cool, but to me, she was just looking out into the distance. She showed more perhaps when she was crying I'd say.

As far as the most emotion? The VERY first shot (and maybe why they chose it as the first frame) of Finn appearing in that Stormtrooper outfit was the most urgency I've seen from a Star Wars film in a very long time. Not on the level of Ledger, but that really grabbed the audience just by how desperate he looked...again with no words.

But overall.....on BOTH boyega and ridley, they haven't yet sealed the deal that they will be good. Daisy is not automatically great because she's the hero, neither is Boyega. Still got to EARN their place...nothing is given.

 

I honestly can't even remember anything about Padme in TPM other than her creepy makeup. That and how weird the whole Anakin/Padme thing is, like ughhh no.

 

I forgot she was in it. I mean, it just was not a high point in her acting career.

And for those saying "at least she was hot."

There's a time and place for softcore porn, and a Star Wars film isn't it.
