Finn has yet to display any force sensitivity. Even the theory that he heard the screams of the Hosnian Prime victims has been disproved. Also, he used a lightsaber just about as long as Han did in ESB, and if we go by the recent Marvel SW Comics, Han, Leia and Chewie all used lightsabers on Nar Shadda with zero training.

Also, about this pull of light- in Finn's Story, it is made clear that Finn needed to escape because he had already failed to kill some miners on Phasma's orders on his first mission. She had given him a last chance to correct himself on the Jakku mission, failing which he would have got into trouble or worse, killed. So it wasn't the light pulling Finn on Jakku- it was the fear of what would happen if he remained. That is why he almost joined Sidon Ithano's crew at Maz's castle- to escape to the outer rim and get away from the FO.

So while Finn could yet be a force sensitive, there is no evidence of it now.

On the other hand, Poe shows definite signs of force sensitivity, as I have explained in detail in my earlier post.

I really don't see Poe as being Force sensitive. Also, there have been many great pilots other than the Skywalkers. Wedge being one of them as well as Baron Soontir Fel and they weren't Force sensitive.

But neither Wedge or Soontir Fel's families were given a force-sensitive tree for some inexplicable reason, they didn't grow up around said force-sensitive tree, and not all of them showed other traits such as sensing other's emotions, which Poe has done on more than one occasion.

Also, the force-sensitive tree in the Coruscant temple was the location where jedi younglings trained- which makes Poe playing on the tree as a child, as confirmed in Poe's Log even more interesting. Also, Ahsoka received beads from Yoda for her padawan braid in a special ceremony held under the force-sensitive tree in the recent Forces of Destiny animation. Yoda also saw this tree with many members of the jedi order standing beneath it during his vision in TCW. Hence the force-sensitive tree in Poe's ranch is more relevant than garden ornamentation and it can be considered strong evidence of his force sensitivity.... his being a great pilot being only one of the reasons.

Yes I understand what you mean but think about it a little. If you are a Jedi and you know you are in danger because you are being wiped out of the galaxy and you also know that the Empire is dealing with anyone Force/Jedi related, who better to give something so important than to beings that are not Force sensitive? Same thing that Obi Wan and Yoda did with such incredibly important beings as were Luke and Leia. They could have easily taken one child each to raise them as Jedi but they knew the risks were just to high.

We can see the same thing happening in Rogue One. Look who the Guardians of the Whills were, two beings that were not Force sensitive Chirrut and Baze and yet they cared for such an important place as the Temple of the Kyber. We also saw this happen yet again in TFA. Lor San Tekka was not Force sensitive and yet apart from being a member of the Church of the Force he was the one person that Luke trusted enough to give something so incredibly important as the piece of the map.

I understand where you are coming from but you are not making an apples to apples comparison. Let me first take the example you gave of Obi-wan handing over Luke and Leia to Owen Lars and Bail Organa respectively. That was at a time when Order 66 was taking place and even the inquisitors started hunting for FS children...not to mention Project Harvester. However, when Luke gave Shara Bey the force sensitive tree, the Emperor was dead, the Empire was in disarray and the inquisitors were long gone. Also, why would he retain one of the trees if he were so fearful? Logically, he would hand that second tree over to someone else for safekeeping as well just like Obi-wan did in the case of both Luke and Leia.

Now for Chirrut and Baze guarding the Temple of the Kyber. For one thing, if you read the Guardians of the Whills book, they chose to remain there when the Imperials arrived while the other guardians fled. It wasn't a sacred duty thrust upon them by some jedi. Also, we have no idea about what exactly happens in the Temple of the Kyber- is it just a shrine or is it a nexus? We have absolutely no idea. But let me put that aside. Maz's castle was once a jedi temple, sitting on a force nexus and the location of an ancient battle. It is run by a force sensitive Maz but it is also occupied by half the riff raff of the galaxy including pirates, bounty hunters, murderers and mad scientists according to Tales from a Galaxy, Far, Far Away. So important sacred spaces like the Temple of the Kyber could end up being occupied by anyone, force sensitive or not.

Last, Lor San Tekka had the map to the first jedi temple....but if you read the Lando and Aphra comics, there were other non-force sensitive historians and archaeologists who knew the history and locations of many important places so Lor San Tekka wasn't some rare exacption. Also, the datacard with the map wasn't a force strong artifact.

In contrast, the force sensitive tree was a powerful object associated with the training of younglings, graduation ceremonies for padawans, the jedi order itself and Palpatine's secret laboratories.... hence there has to be a deeper significance in Luke handing it over to Shara Be when she talked about her young son in the Shattered Empire comics. The logical explanation for it is that Poe is force sensitive.

I understand what you mean but sadly I can't answer you much to this as I haven't read the comics and I know almost nothing about tree. I do know by past experience though that when it comes to facts we must always put the movies above all comics as many things in them tend to go against what we see in the big screen. It's like what happened with Aurra Sing. She was an awesome Force sensitive Jedi killer in the comics but she was just a regular Bounty Hunter in CW which is canon. Maybe the comic does make you think that Poe might be someone special but so far TFA only showed us that he's an awesome pilot. I guess we will have to see what happens. I like Poe and Finn alot but I would gladly keep them as non Jedi and keep that spot with Rey.

This reasoning is much better to stand behind than the OP's thoughts.

Current comics are cannon were previous comics are legend now....plus it's a cartoon for kids you can't have a bad azz Jedi killer going crazy in a kids cartoon.

Even if I go with your argument regarding the movies taking precedence over comics, books and TV shows, there will never be any contradiction between all the canon media...so while the general audience need not know the stories told in other media, those stories will not be overruled by what will be told in the movies....or people will stop buying the other media looking for clues. :p

In the case of Aurra Sing, she was force sensitive in the EU comics, not canon comics. In both the canon TCW show and recent Darth Maul comics, she isn't force sensitive.

Poe is the Wedge Antilles of the ST. Wedge was a great pilot participating in all the major battles. The actor who plays Poe wanted a bigger part or nothing, so they expanded his role. He was supposed to die in TFA i believe.
    Anyways, i doubt it.

True that current comics are now canon but this really has no true wight to it as the same was said of the EU before it was dropped. We see many things like video games, books and comics which are considered canon just to boost sales and whenever they feel like it they just drop everything and suddenly say it's non canon. Everything that is considered canon now means nothing if sometime in the far future, Disney sells SW to some other company just as Lucas did. The new company will get rid of Disney's canon, keep what they like and create a totally new canon even if we like it or not. So far the only things that we can truly take as canon are the movies, CW and Rebels. And here's hoping that they respect this and no crazy person comes along in the future and reboots the movies.

In the Art of TFA, Poe or John Doe as he was called, wasn't supposed to die in the early drafts as there are scenes of him later on Jakku after the TIE fighter crash. However, in an interim draft, JJ Abrams considered killing off his character.

I have read two versions of what happened next- one is that Oscar Isaac didn't want his character killed off; and the second is that JJ Abram's assistant director (I think) pointed out that Poe was supposed to live in the original story. Either way, Poe was not killed off.

But this decision happened at a very early stage of the script writing. If we go by this logic, Rey was supposed to be Kira, an Asian character living on a swamp planet with her grandfather, Finn was supposed to be Sam and Kylo was a cyborg terminator style jedi killer and not the Skywalker child. All the characters evolved as the script was developed so I would think the same evolution would apply to Poe as well.

I don't see Poe as a Wedge Antilles no matter how much I like Wedge. Poe seems more like the Leia of this trilogy....I think Snap Wexley is the Wedge Antilles of this trilogy...he is also a great pilot, flew the Millennium Falcon as a teenager, was a member of Wedge's Phantom Squadron and a founding member of the Resistance. Snap is also being brought up by Wedge Antilles by the end of the Aftermath trilogy so it makes sense for him to take over that role in this trilogy.

Of course there will be contradiction between all the canon media as we have seen this happen many times before. You seem to be unaware that the EU comics were the canon of the past. Boba Fett was Jaster Mereel, C3PO was a droid built by Cybot Galactica and not by anyone in particular and he and R2 had tons of adventures in the Droids tv series which was considered canon at that time ect ect. There were tons of things that were considered canon right until Lucas decided to make the PT and everything had to be either trashed or retconned. Even Quin Lan Vos's story which many fans loved was greatly retconned to have him fit the CW series and all of that has never stopped people from buying the other media looking for clues.

    Question to Jedi Poe team.

Is Chirrut Imwe, the guardian of the Temple ,from Rogue one,a Force sensitive?

Its official he is not jet his talent and motivation plus hard work made him extraordinary, making some wrongfuly ask is he a Jedi, just like this thread .

No guys,Poe Dameron is great character and great pilot but quite clearly not Force sensitive.

I have been a SW fan for decades and am well aware of the EU comics (have read and own a good number of them) and Quinlan Vos happens to be my favourite jedi....I wouldn't say I am ecstatic about his canon story considering how awesome he was in the Republic comics though his relationship with Ventress makes sense to me despite my initial irritation at the idea. But I am hopeful that they will bring back some of the stories (especially the Anzati ones and the one about Darth Andedu's holocron) especially after the recent announcement of the Mace Windu comic and Prakith being a canon location.

Before Disney's acquisition of LF, there were 5 levels of canon- G-canon, T-canon, C-canon, S-canon, and N-canon, with many stories being told by LF licensees independently...so there was understandably contradictions between all the different levels.

Now there is only one single canon with everything else gone...and the story group's role is to ensure there are no contradictions between the different stories told in various media so they work closely with those telling the stories. I have yet to see a major contradiction between any of the canon stories post Disney acquisition, whether it is a movie, book, comic, TV show, RPG, game or reference book. So while contradictions did happen pre-2014, it is unlikely to happen now.

I understand how you feel because I have a ton of comics, novels, reference books and RPG source books that are worthless post 2014.

And you are right that if Disney ever sold LF to another company, we will once again be stuck with a lot more useless materials...but until that happens I think LF and its story group will now keep greater control over the story and make sure it is kept uniform across the various media. I remember reading interviews of Jason Fry and Christie Golden about how closely the story group worked with them...so I think they will be careful and ensure we get a contradiction free canon.

I understand that your headcanon doesn't allow you to consider Poe a force sensitive. But there is enough evidence to warrant at least a discussion regarding his being force sensitive- the force sensitive tree, the amazing flying, the unerring aim and his sensing emotions..... now does this mean he will become a jedi? Not necessarily. He will probably follow Leia's path and stick with the resistance/republic unlike the super force sensitives of the trilogy Rey and Kylo.

Finn is, and could be why I feel that he was being groomed for great things. Perhaps one day he would wear red armor? They raised him from birth. If he had elevated MC, the FO would have known.

    And I totally get that.

The way I see it, we could really extend that to any character (even Rey or Luke). Personally, what sets Poe apart is that he seems like an individual who's actually quite prodigious at something, and the Force could cheapen that.

With Finn, I think that it was actually pretty cool that he managed to cross blades with Kylo Ren, even if the latter was wounded. Not everyone could be so lucky to do so and walk away alive. So I could totally see how such an accomplishment could be cheapened by "he was force sensitive the whole time".

I guess I'm being totally subjective here, but I think that at least the Force just seems to make a little more sense (though, still very little) in Finn's trajectory than with Poe's. That being said, it would obviously be more interesting then for Poe to end up FS and not Finn.

Poe uses the force to anticipate required maneuvers in a Star Fighter. It is what gives him the edge. Is he Jedi material? Probably not. He is closer to Chirrut Imwe in Force sensitivity than say OB1.

So yes he has got an edge that flows from the Force but he wont be lifting his Star Fighter out of any swamps with a thought. He could potentially be trained to use a Light Saber but not "Force Push".

If you could name the power he has I would call it "Force Anticipation". Feeling what will happen in next seconds and a slight increase in reaction.

I would argue that Poe is Force sensitive, but hear me out on my theory here. I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed elsewhere, but here I go...

Obi-Wan once described The Force as an energy field, that permeates every living being (paraphrased, please don't shoot me...) which means every being in the Galaxy has the Force flow through them. However, as Obi-Wan also said "a Jedi can feel the Force flow through him..." which suggests that a Jedi is conscious of the Force as an entity or some such.

Now, if we look at Chirrut in Rogue One, he prayed to the Force, and did amazing things, but he wasn't a Jedi, was that the Force working through him? Possibly yes, and he wasn't aware of its presence in the same way a Jedi would be.

And I think this is the same for Poe. He has an amazing instinct and reflexes which allows him to be an incredible pilot. The Force could help him to get a read on a situation very quickly, which allows him to appear to have amazing reflexes, but he couldn't explain how or why he does it.

So maybe Force Sensitive is the wrong term to use here, but may be Unconsciously Force Blessed or something like that?

Because I'm sure we've all been somewhere that's had a deep spritial significance, and felt something we couldn't explain...I'd say it's the same with Poe....

    just my 2c's

Luke couldn't lift his x-wing out of the Dagobah swamp either ....infact, he was unable to consciously use any form of telekinesis properly till ROTJ. In the canon novel Heir to the Jedi, he especially struggled with telekinesis. One can argue that Luke used the force to send the proton torpedo down the thermal exhaust in ANH but similarly, Poe made the difficult shot that blew up SKB (a mission he feared was so impossible that he asked that his log be sent to his father in case he died on the mission according to Poe's Log) and he even shot all the FO installations during the fight at Takodana in ANH without missing a single shot as per the TFA novel. Poe is definitely more force sensitive than Chirrut going by this evidence.

I get what you mean @egkenobi. I am not trying to say Poe is a force prodigy like Rey and Kylo. But I think there can be degrees of force sensitivity and if the jedi order still existed, Poe might have qualified to become a jedi but he would not have been as powerful as the likes of Yoda, Windu, Anakin etc.

Let's say Poe was Force Sensitive. Why wouldn't Luke have sensed that? I think it's pretty clear he knew the Dameron family. After all, for a while I think we can say the Jedi order did exist again.
