    No. It's a joke.
Unless you count the movie "Rocky Balboa" which was in fact a joke of a movie.

It is a fair example. If you correctly dramatize Rey’s story then Luke doesn’t need to be in the entire movie.

While I love both films I think what I and many other fans wanted was new stories with a mix of old and new characters. What we got is mostly old stories with new characters and older characters kinda awkwardly shoe horned in.

I honestly believe all the issues we have stem from TFA being rushed. They didn't have enough time to plan everything out so JJ used the empty mystery box/rehashes of old moments to get things rolling. Then Rian Johnson wanting to do something totally different and that has really knocked the story and tone off kilter.

What we're getting is great, but I feel it could have been spectacular. Hopefully the next trilogy can be built upon more solid foundations

I long for the days when there was a magical thing called a script. It was a golden age when they were written well in advance of a movie being made.

Yup those glorious days when George wrote scripts for the prequels...or even that ROTJ script or ANH script that were as Hamill would say...you can type this stuff but you can't say it George. I love it when people who have never written scripts think they know what a script should look like. Or even when directors like cough Kyle Newman cough, act like they would have done better.

The script is the last thing to complain about in the film.

Look at the style between ANH and ESB...totally different and tonely different. Different humor and the ESB gets much more complex and "weird." But over the years it has become the gold standard. Its WAY TOO EARLY to be making opinions. I remember the old days when everyone wanted TLJ to be NOT LIKE TFA. Oh wait...that was just last month....

Maybe you read abit about the process of making the OT and the PT. George finished nearly all scripts on set, many changes and Star Wars itself needed ultimatly a happy editing session to be good, that Oscar was well deserved.

Problems with the sequel trilogy so far.......you ask? Everything is wrong with this trilogy! There is literally not one good thing about it......not one! It sucks! I did the unthinkable and watched it for a second time yesterday just to see if it'd change for me.......what a joke! I'm so disappointed in this ST. Well I will say this, at least I made it through the entire movie without turning it off halfway through like I did with TFA on my second viewing lol.

So you are saying the same company that created the Marvel cinematic universe with its characters and storylines and multiple movies goes out and purchases Star Wars and just wings it with the scripts and gives each director the same control the creator of the property had. Okay, i see.

It may not fit your bias, but from what we heard so far they got all the freedom they need. So yeah I know corporate conspiracy theories sell well for the enlightened, but there is no proof and I guess that a story would sell well about a controlling Disney. Some even tried that, but those stories were wrong.

The only conspiracy going on with this ST as far as I can see is the wanton obliteration and bastardization of GL's legacy and vision. It's absolutely disgusting and shameful what they're doing to SW.

What does this have to do with the Holiday Specials and EU?
Because a lot of that was exactly what you are describing

It's not a bias it's a reasonable expectation that any company would develop a clear vision for there work. I mention Marvel because most people would agree that is an example of it being done right. So why is it a problem interconnecting two movies in Star Wars. Maybe they should hire those directors.

Because they are Lucasfilm not, now you are really asking for more intervention? Interconnections after 30 years may be limited it would lead again to a small galaxy syndrome, that doesn't work anymore. If you look at Marvel fatique you see people literally asking for less of that stuff. It doesn't feel like a natural progression just shoehorning.

It's hard to fathom creating a Story Group that gives parameters for authors, game developers and, animators and then just turn over the keys to each director for the major productions. Yet the Han Solo directing team gets fired, why, because they wouldn't stay faithful to the script.

Lack of context is my no.1 issue. I simply can't delve myself into the story if questions like "Why is the First Order so strong and the Resistance so weak?" constantly ruin my experience.

Bad humor is probably my no.2. TFA was already too whacky for my taste, but TLJ is blown out of proportions... What they should do is follow the way of Irwin Kersher who said he "felt like he needed humour, yet he couldn't use gags". They should abandon Marvel humour asap.
