Well... I'd say the implications made by Mr. Filoni's statement are pretty clear, and to be honest I had kind of expected this.

If nothing else, it seems the latter part of Season 2 could be the "Empire Strikes Back" of the show, depending on what direction it chooses to go in.

Got to wonder now,.just how many people are getting killed off by the end of season 2? Ashoka seems likely, but could Kanan.die as well? Also, I've heard a lot of speculation about Ezra turning to the darkside, and with what we have seen up til now that possibility seems more and more likely. I can not believe that Darth Maul is back AGAIN! I'm crossing my fingers for one last Maul/Obi-Wan duel b4 Rebels finishes it's run.

Well, so much for Kylo Ren's saber being a unique creation.

Now Space Aladdin gets to play around with one.

    Great.

It never was. It was based on something found on Malachor (which is strongly implied to be the planet where the Sith Temple is found). Kylo Ren still constructed it himself.

    My prediction:

    Mail will FINALLY bite it.

Ashoka BARELY escaped with her life.

Ezra gets traumatized and ends up working in the dark side while playing with the light at the same time.

    Karan doesn't die .

I don't think the plot thread has to be wrapped up with her death, though. And it doesn't look like she'll die on Malachor, considering that Filoni also said that all three characters come out of the expedition as changed individuals.

Space Aladdin, I love it! Funny how the saga's least original character ends up with so many unique lightsabers, guess that makes him more than completely boring.

Very good point, but could Ashoka's change be becoming a force ghost?

This trailer definitely hints at some bad stuff going down for all the Rebels crew. It seems pretty obvious that Ezra will begin his fall to the Dark Side either by the end of Season 2 or sometime in Season 3. I don't think they would kill Kanan especially if Ezra does go to the Dark Side since he will have to stop Ezra. Ahsoka will most likely die in her fight against Vader, but you never know she could escape and survive until another time. I'm still hoping for an Obi Wan anthology where he and Darth Maul have their rematch, but a Maul/Obi Wan fight in Rebels would be really cool to see.

Nothing indicates that she's undergone the trials necessary to learn the secret.

What happened to Qui-Gon was introduced as an element after the fact. It wasn't given an actual explanation until years after that plot point was revealed. So now that it's clear in the setting, it serves as the basis for any character to at least be seen engaging in some kind of ritual related to the ability.

(Before you bring Anakin up as a potential counterpoint, George Lucas has said that he's a special case, but it hasn't been revealed why just yet.)

If I could speculate, it's because Nakain Skywalker is the physical/emotional embodiment of the force, amiright ?

He's more like Christ, the Antichrist, or the Moonchild depending on how you look at it. The Father/Son/Daughter from The Clone Wars fit your description better.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but that sounds about right. It was the Mortis trilogy.
