These types of people are a thing. See The Screaming Citadel arc in Marvel Star Wars.

i watched a video that detailed a similar theory.

one part of me thinks that maybe this is that, "Ancient Evil" subtitle we all remember hearing about, and maybe there's a bit of truth to the idea.

another part thinks it's not super compelling. nothing really in particular makes me think it's lame, but i definitely don't get excited at the idea of the story heading in this direction.

@TheBBP is also right, this has already been done within the new canon. that may have been a set up for TLJ or it may have been the only iteration of this idea we'll see. (i'm hoping for the latter)

I'm aware of this arc. ;) Now, the last thing we need is the final confrontation against Snoke set in some kind space-neogothic castle, something akin to Neuschwanstein, just creepier. :D
    [IMG]

PS. Also, the fact that it was comic book may just get us assimilated with the idea of Force vampires. Such a process seems to be common in the current canon.

They used the comics to ..... prime is to accept non-force users using lightsbers. Don't see why they would introduce a concept there to make it.......fit the universe before showing it in the movies

I think that sounds about right.

Though I think this means Kylo will kill Snoke when the time comes.

WAIT WHAT ABOUT DV's CASTLE???? Could that be Snoke's abode? Holy crap mind blown!.... no he has a ship....the lava, the castle, Force Vampire... does Snoke have two sanctuaries? The Screaming Citadel was divisive but I enjoyed it...great find.

Could be Kylo's abode and the Kylo/Snoke confrontation still happen there.

It's possible, but if that returns (which, given its introduction, I see as extremely possible) I think Kylo would have far more interest in it.

I like the specific idea but IMO it's still a random baddy to just plop in the Skywalker saga.

of all the speculated stories for snoke this one rings the most true, at least on the surface. everything seems to make sense in the context of the story, not overly complicated etc.

For me there is litle doubt left that Snoke is cheating natural death for eons, just look at him.

Also, without a shadow of a doubt for me Chuck Wendig has put intentionally, in his Aftermath novel, lamentation of Yupe Tashu (dark side librarian) about existance of
records about ancient Sith who were able to prolong their lives for many centuries, by draining Life Force from their captives.

In fact Tashu says this in a context of--revenge, of revenge and by intention of inflicting despair to those who believe dark side is defeated....which could imply that Tashu (who was close aid of Palpatine) was talking about Palpatines's revenge trough bringing back this ancient evil ...activating it?

I think we have argumented base to from now on start to talk of Snoke as this ancient darksider. It all fitts together. Plus Han's words to Kylo- Snoke will use you than crush you, and you know its true.

Wsn't Palpatine receiving a call from something he considered the origin of the dark side? Maybe it was Snoke calling out to Palpatine to awaken him? I like the idea of Snoke being a Darth Andeddu type character lying in a tomb, alive and waiting.

Aftermath novel (first book) states that Palpatine has started to receive "calls" from a source of dark side in the Unknown Regions. Only Palpatine felt this, not even Vader could felt it.

Very important (in my eyes) is this:

In the novel Aftermath this happening is reported by Palpatine's Dark side adviser Tashu.
Tashu talks about that find, mysterious feeling from Unknown Regions that Palpatine felt (and obviously shared this find with Tashu).

Now...Same that Tashu talks about knowledge of ancient Sith Lords who were able to prolong their lives by killing captives trough draining Force from them, aligning themselves more to the Dark side , which granted them to live further. From the context I believe this knowledge about such Sith Lords originates from Palpatine's find.

I am starting to suspect that Snoke is highest level of Palpatine's "Contingency plan".

Palpatine Contigency was, in case he dies, for Empire to be destroyed, and only the best of imperials to retreat in to Unknown Regions.

But I am starting to belive that Palpatine's grand design included "activating" the leader for those Imperials there in the Unknown regions. He somehow contacted Snoke or at least located him, the place where Snoke is.

Was Snoke in some stasis, imprisoned, conscious but restrained for millenia? Calling? And Palpatine has given orders(trough sentinel droids?) for Snoke to be released and take command of Imperial remnants , in case Palpatine dies. His Contingency, and revenge.

“The thing about Snoke is that he is extremely strong with the Force, the dark side of the Force. He’s terribly powerful, of course. But he is also a very vulnerable and wounded character,”

I like that snoke-fallen-angel-theory although I doubt it will be referenced in the films. And I doubt we will get a complex backstory for snoke in TLJ or Episode IX.
Why? Because no one really cares ... besides us star-wars-nerds. (dad)

There is whispering lately he could be someone that was resurrected , or freed from something, after the battle of Endor, by the order of Palpatine, as a part of Papatine's Contingency plan.

First Order needed a leader. Palpatine has definitiely given them one. Obviously everything has gone smoothly for Snoke, him taking power over First Order was smooth thing, it seems obvious it was prepared.

i too have heard whisperings among the common folk, talk of Snoke and the prophecy...

from what the augurs could read, some are beginning to think that Snoke is the other child of the Force. there was Anakin, born of a virgin, but this was a miracle. Plagueis, who some believe could create life, did in fact create life: Snoke.

at least that's what i heard on my commute this morning...
