SPECULATION Star Wars Episode VIII Teaser

Hang on.

Lucasfilm showed (not released) the original teaser for Rogue One at Celebration last year. A year and a half before Rogue one and 5 months
before their biggest film in a decade.

I understand the Episode 8 hype could distract from Rogue One, especially for the casual fans however, I see no reason why they may not
show an unreleased clip of 8 at Celebration this year. In fact I think they will.

I hope so as I will be there.

 

If VIII takes 4 months to film, like RO did and VII was going to do (until Harrison Ford's injury), they'd finish in mid-June. TFA's name was revealed the day of wrapping, which was November 4th. In less than a month after wrapping, they had the first trailer ready on November 28th. With VIII finishing in mid-June, and Star Wars Celebration exactly a month after that, they could easily have put together a teaser of some sort. It's just a matter of if they want to show one or not.

VII filming: May 2014 - September 2014 (Harrison Ford's injury delayed it 2 months into November)

Rogue One filming: September 2015 - January 2015

VIII filming: February 15th 2016 + 4 months = mid-June 2016

 

TFA first teaser was not even ment to be released (it was not a part of their original marketing plan), so you cant count on that happening again. They made an exception because of the big demand from fans. I dont think they will do that again.

They will not release a teaser 1½ year before the movie premieres. THAT is for sure.

 

But when did Rogue One wrap versus when it's teaser trailer premiered? No, I think your dates on RO filming are off.

And you can't compare the Nov 2015 "teaser" with anything else because that was less that 45 seconds of footage. It was an announcement trailer more than anything.

The Rogue O trailer 1 is analogous to the SWC trailer for TFA. BoTh were about 3-6 months after principal filming ended.


An Ep E VIII "teaser" like the one from April 2016 or the RO one we got should arrive six months (give or take) after filming ends... January or February 2017. Because 3-5 months after principal photography would be in the main RO publicity window.


The most they would want to do at SWC in 2016 is divulge the name.

We've got over 18 months and another SW film (not to mention several marvel films) to go before release of Ep VIII We won't get a trailer this year.

 

Rogue One schedule:

April 19th 2015 - Long before they even start filming, they release a short teaser at SWC 2015.

I'm not saying they're going to release a full blown trailer at SWC. I'm saying there's a good chance they'll release something in between the TFA teaser #1 and the Rogue One SWC teaser.

At SWC 2015, even with no filmed footage available, and with their biggest release yet (TFA) less than a year away, they still released a teaser for Rogue One.

They will be in the exact same position as they were with Rogue One at SWC 2015.

Except...

• Filming will be done for VIII
• It is a much more anticipated film than Rogue One was at the time

So you really think they won't show anything from it?

 

I think we might see some set images from EP VIII at SWC, but not any videos in any shape or form from EP VIII. We already have the May 4th Daisy video from the EP VIII set and I dont think that we will see more EP VIII videos till next year. But one can only hope.

 

I think something is gonna drop at Celebration....

I agree that (unfortunately) there won't be a EP8 teaser as it will overshadow Rogue One. We could, though, possibly get a title for the film as it will wrap just before Celebration. Going to Day One of the Europe celebration. First time. Very excited. Anyway, if there's a way I can in for Saturday (sold out) let me know! LOL!

Exactly, 2016 is the year to go full on with Rogue One. .. Thats right, I keep forgetting about the EP VIII title, that is an big possibility for STAR WARS CELEBRATION.

 

Small 10-15 second teaser in London (July), then a 30-1 minute trailer the week before Rogue One's release to promote the release of the film further

 

It wont happen. The studio will focus on Rogue One promotion this year and then Episode 8 promotion next year. Any Episode 8 promotion this year would take the focus away from Rogue One, and trust me the studio does not want that. Besides if it was just a 10 - 15 seconds clip they might as well just wait and release a proper teaser next year. Trust me there will not be a teaser for Episode 8 at SWC or with Rogue One.

 

If there is a teaser trailer for EP 8, I don't think it'll happen until November, if that. The 'House of Mouse" really wants to push Rogue One and see how the first Standalone works out in December. So in total agreement with Bounty Humper. Unless, once Rogue One comes out… maybe after it's initial release we may see an EP8 teaser in theaters in December. Then again, I can't see them NOT giving a little tidbit of information about EP8 just to keep us speculating!

 

Maybe the title of EP VIII as @Demsa Aztor suggested. That would be nice.

 

The title for Ep8 at Celebration is 50/50. Maybe they will even release a teaser poster but a teaser trailer, no!!

 

Rogue one has their main focus now. We don't have to expect any trailers soon. The only thing we can do is to wait and countdown.

 

Since they pushed back the release they should have material to make a trailer. However, my guess is show some behind the scenes thing at Celebration and release the first teaser in December to run before Rogue One.

 

whilst i'm sure they have made lots of lovely timeline plans for ep8.. the teaser release date will probably be within a few weeks of when it's made:-

teaser is made
details of teaser is leaked and spread throughout the wonders of the online world (yes i'm looking at you Mr Ward! lol)
teaser is released immediately, and make it look like it was the plan all along.

i don't know the film making process.. but would a teaser be done early in the processing cycle? or is it a latter stages thing?

I feel bad for the people who are certain that the Episode 8 teaser will be released with Rogue One. Im hearing more and more people talk about it at work and in my friend-circles. If you guys could just see the smile on their faces when they talk about it, they are glowing like force ghosts. The thing is they are setting themselfs up for disappointment.

Don't bother comparing Episode VII to Episode VIII, two different situations
