    General Fett!

    *Cooking intensely*

Once again a mediocre episode. Some stuff was good, other moments were bad.

The dialogue and action is cringworthy at times. But what I noticed this week's episode was weirdly edited, especially during that cyberpunk shop scene. The whole episode was way too fast paced edited. At least in comparison with the cinematography.

I like to see a more merciless Boba in this episode, but it made the show feel even more inconsistent as before.
The Bantha is quite cute. And the show gives the droids a bit of screen time.

But once more I caught myself being bored. This show doesn't get to the point, maybe it doesn't even have one... The only real exciting moment for me was hearing Mando's theme.

Finally? We already have seen that two times before. In TFA and in Solo.

A good question by @RockyRoadHux- did Boba forget that he was wearing the amor when he escaped the Sarlaac Pit? Why should it be in the pit again?

in the olden times, this would have been the kind of comment that @Maximus turned up for :(

yeah, but I'm younger than Fett, haven't spent 'some time' in a Sarlacc's gut and when i put my car keys down at home I'm lucky if I can remember where by an hour later... let alone after weeks of recuperation, being adopted into a tribe and all the rest of it! :D

I'm just imagining an alternate scenario at the end of the gathering storm where Fett is the one to turn to Fennec "You can buy an army with credits. If you know where to look....", And then the theme tune for the Clone army from Episodes II and III started playing (if such a thing existed). :p

That would be the ultimate bait and switch if they actually revealed that's what Fennec meant.

That's supposed to be more of an excuse for Mr Favreau than for Boba right? xD Yeah, Boba seems to suffer from having selective memory issues a lot. Like the Tusken rescued him...I mean come on. They took away his beskar, gave him little to no water at all, dragged him through the desert like dog. It took years for him to earn their trust... That man really has some issues.

The Jawas actually took the amor. Still, the Tusken weren't nice to him, if you think about it, yes.

But they gave him no water and dragged him around and beat him with sticks...with respect!

Seriously though, I think Boba is one to respect a warrior culture even if he is on the wrong end of their ruthlessness. Like Din says, "They are brutal, it's true, but so is the Dune Sea." Boba knows he would have died anyway in the desert, and at least the Tuskens gave him a chance to live.

I certainly wouldn't feel all mushy about them in his shoes, but I'm not Boba. :p

It's pretty clear that Boba is near death when he escapes and it is literally is years later when he's fully recovered from his injuries. Is it really surprising that at the edge of consciousness he's unable to remember how he got out?
I mean, they did rescue him. It did take years for him to earn their trust and his respect for them. Maybe it's because I just finished watching The Last Kingdom (one of the dumbest shows I've ever forced myself to watch), but this doesn't seem far fetched at all. In fact, it's a pretty common story trope.

How funny would it be if Boba and Fennec track down Din just to ask him where they can hire an army of Grogus to use the force on Fett's enemies?

Huh, not quite the momentum that I expected in this episode, but still an interesting one. A surprise, to be sure... but a welcome one.

The Fennec flashbacks were cool. Neat to fill in some of those gaps (both literally and figuratively). I liked seeing more of that weird cyberpunk underbelly of Mos Espa- that's kinda starting to fill the void that I was having from Tatooine fatigue, to be honest.

The Jabba's Palace scene wasn't quite what I was looking for, with most of the action being against a few protocol droids, though I appreciated Wannabe Grievous.

The revenge against the Sarlaac pit was really cool. Such a weird, eerie scene of the firespray hovering over the pit, the creepy mouth of it screaming up, and the appearance of those sonic boom bois!

Back to the modern day- I loved how Krrsantan didn't back down in the bar. On the flip side, I don't trust the other crime lords as far as I can throw them (and certainly not as far as Krrsantan can).

I think it's a given we'll see Mando back. Who else, I wonder?

I think Fett's series could cleverly lay some groundwork for Mando S3, particularly if Bo Katan is either present or mentioned. My personal guess is that we'll see Bo Katan in Mando S3, but she'll only be mentioned in Fett- perhaps the conflict over Mandalore is growing intense, and Mando is in hiding.

It would be interesting to see Ahsoka make an appearance, though I'm not sure how likely that is. Though, given the final season of TCW, she's certainly willing to get her hands dirty with crime syndicates.

Aphra seems like an obvious choice too, given Krrsantan's appearance. I'd also love to see live action BT-1 and 0-0-0. Sana might make sense, too.

    Han, I guess.

Finally, let's see some ESB bounty hunters already! I've love for Fett to call in a favor with some of them- or, perhaps they're allied with the Pykes.

You will never get rid of crime. The scene with Black Krrsantan in a way was basically how being a crime lord navigates through situations. Krrsantan wasn't apprehended, he was respected, at the same time it could have been a lot worse. Boba can't lock up and kill every criminal, it puts a target on him. He's then taking these people who do crimes because they have no work and gives them work which actually keeps them out of getting into trouble in the first place. In a way him being a crime lord is reducing crime. In the process he is earning respect from the criminals and the people at the same time. Remember it's how he leads that will shape everything going forward.

When it’s predicated on having a four minute scene dedicated to our main character discovering something the audience already knows? Yeah, kinda surprising. We really could have skipped right over that and not missed anything.

Well we saw the Sarlacc's demise (maybe). We saw some more of Fennec and Boba's relationship developing.

Boba doesn't know that his armor isn't in the Sarlacc. But we are shown that it's important enough to him that he would peer straight back into the mouth of the place of his near death, and almost become victim to it again. That's a recurring theme in this story.

Haha, I mean, I hope it's gone now.

On the other hand, it'd be just weird enough to be amazing if the final episode sees Fett and his cadre surrounded by Pykes, Krrsantan dueling Bossk, Fennec and IG-88 going fisticuffs, Fett bobbing and weaving from Qi'ra's blasts. The Tusken cavalry that arrived turning the tide, but will they have arrived soon enough?

All of a sudden, ripples form in a nearby puddle of water.

    Boom.

    Boom.

    Boom.

Above the plateau near Mos Espa rises a shape, a triangle like an upsidedown mountain eclipsing the Twin Suns of Tatooine. Tentacles arise from the flat top of it, and it screeches out of its beak.

The Sarlaac Pit has come to finish what it started. :p

I didn’t really get the impression that Boba had any sort of investment in the Sarlacc’s fate. It didn’t seem like this was him cathartically overcoming his trauma or something. But maybe I misread it.
We saw their partnership in play, sure. But that was the whole centerpiece behind rescuing the <ship that shall not be named>, right? Then we have a genuine catharsis of him shooting down the biker gang - which Fennec is there to witness and condone.
That’s a good point. It illustrates the excessive (and potentially self-destructive) lengths he’s willing to go to in order to achieve his goals. He’s OK with getting himself, and someone else, killed if it means regaining something that represents his pride. I guess that is a pretty solid character moment then :)

I'm happy with that episode. Boba is really stepping away from his Father's morals/beliefs 'I'm just a simple man...trying to make his way in the universe', compared to 'You can only get so far without a tribe'.

The sonic charge moment was amazing, I love that sound - brings back so many memories. The present day stuff really needs to ramp up now, all out war, The Pykes pulling more shady stuff etc.

Yeah that was the point of most of what I was saying. The "why" isn't challenged nor does it complex. It's a simple question that gets answered very simply in Episode 4. The "how' is what the crux of the story is about, which is what we're both trying to say here, if I'm reading your post correctly.

To be fair to the timeline, Boba does restate his father's line after this episode, as he gets his armor back after getting his ship back. So looking back on The Mandalorian's episode The Tragedy, the line Boba restates has additional context of "I'm just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe like my father before me...and that simple man wants to try a new way." But yes, I see your point and agree.

Agreed, the Pykes really haven't done anything at all in the modern storyline outside of show up, right?

I mean, they did some stuff in the flashbacks that were pretty despicable, but if we're judging people by their past then Fett's a villain too. Unless of course that's the point, and Fett will come to some sort of reconciliation with the Pykes, which... assuming they make moves toward restitution to the Tuskens and there's another villain to give the series some conflict, that might be an interesting way to resolve things.
