That's actually a far more appealing way to look at it. And sort of sad too. But I like it. I'll definitely try looking at it from that perspective for the finale and finale review!

I'm going to check my math:

According to S1 of Mandolorian, Grogu is 50 years old
Mandalorian is 7 years after ROTJ, I think
ROTJ is 6ish years after ANH
ANH is 19-20 years after ROTS and Order 66

When Order 66 was....ahem, executed, Grogu was about 17. Considering his apparent maturity level in Mando S1, a 17 year old Grogu might not remember Yoda, or much else from that time. Just a thought....

While I applaud your description of the traditional Jedi way, the fact remains that the traditional Jedi are almost all extinct.

Exactly! I would liken this to a discussion between a progressive Christian and a Fundamentalist Christian — meaning there’s more the one way to be a good Jedi! :). :). :)

Mando is about 5 years after ROTJ
ROTJ is 3-4 years after ANH
ANH is about 19-20 years after ROTS and Order 66

So only a few years off, but your point remains the same!

That’s a thought…here’s another: Mentally Yoda’s species are more advanced at a young age than they are physically. This would explain why Grogu had YEARS of training before he could even speak because of his ability to Force connect with his instructors the same way he did with Ahsoka.

Let’s face it, Grogu may still look and act like a small child but he’s shown himself numerous times to possess an intellect and maturity beyond his appearance.

Right. And the premise that’s been laid down in the Disney era is that Luke’s on a crusade to revive them as best he can, based on what knowledge he can recover.
I absolutely agree. And you’d think that’s the direction Luke would lean. The impression I got from how the sequels presented things though was that’s not the approach Luke wound up taking. He kept with tradition. “The sacred Jedi texts.” He “deified” the Jedi and didn’t question them. He overlooked their failure and repeated it. So his binary attitude toward Grogu tracks pretty well for me.

I agree with you but regardless of one’s opinion of TLJ, it presents a pretty glum view of the Jedi order’s future — especially from a franchise perspective. I suspect they’ll give it a shot with Rey. But I predict it won’t work. With all due respect to the actress playing her, that ship sailed within the first ten minutes of TLJ.

I realize I’m going out on a limb today with some of my thoughts about the future of SW. But when it comes to film and/or TV shows about a post-ST Star Wars, I wouldn’t be surprised if someday in the distant future, Lucasfilm will give us a rebirth of the Jedi Council led by a plucky young Mandalorian Jedi named Master Grogu. :)

I want to see Boba and Din have some iron man type action with their jet packs like Cobb Vanth and Din.

Boba needs a lot of epic action moments besides riding the Rancor. He hasn't been a badass in his own show like he was in Mandalorian S2

Rancor jet pack! This is now all I want to see. And if this thing I just now imagined, doesn't happen, then I go on strike!

Robert Rodriguez was brought on board by Favreau and Filoni specifically for TBoBF Episode 7 because of how impressed they were with the job he did in Mando S2. I think it’s safe to say RR hasn’t been the best at ‘setting the stage’ in this series but put him in charge of a battle and he’s in his element. We’ll see how well he handles it next week.

First 5 episodes of Kenobi are young Mandalorian backstory, Grogu's escape story, and then handoff to Obi-wan in episode 6 for safekeeping? Boba Fett does a scene, and says "If this gig works out, I could get my own show some day."

    (Grogu enters)
    Obi-wan: Hello there.
    End. Roll theme music.

I presume that building your own lightsaber would be desired outcome as kyber crystal calls to the padawan and is in sinc with them, but that might not always possible. Post-Empire, Ilum was left ravaged and later, the First Order turned it into Starkiller Base and was destroyed by the Resistance. The sources of kyber might be scarce. There could be other reasons why padawan cannot build their own weapon. So, I don't think it matters if they are given already available weapon. It will serve them as it served the previous owner. Perhaps they won't be 100% perfect for each other, but training can smooth many things.

This is just my 2 cents, I have no basis for this in Canon, except that Luke was gifted his father's lightsaber by a Jedi Master, so... But, Luke could be an exception like he is in many things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, it’s definitely something to do with having to use a humans face as the base. It’s well done for sure but something just felt different. His face was almost TOO expressive in live action. The way the brow curled and the way the nose moved (not sure if Cad has a nose but you know what I mean) made him seem different.

Luke has a pretty glum view at the start of the film. That isn't the case at the end of the film or the trilogy. With the help of Leia, Rey is picking up where Luke left off. [IMG]

Some differences on Cad for sure but it's awesome for live action imo. I would prefer the darker blue but still fully embrace the new changes and the facial expressions are great

Question: When Luke offers Grogu the lightsaber he says- if Grogu chooses the lightsaber, then he will become Luke's first student.

Wouldn't that be a retcon though? In the 'The Rise of Kylo Ren' it's stated that Ben Solo was his first student.

Maybe this is a clue after all.

Did anyone else get a wee bit emotional when Din arrived at Luke's academy and immediately greeted R2 with "Hello, friend." (r2-d2)

And I thought Leia was his first student, so maybe it is a clue. Maybe Ben is his first student because he actually sticks around for extended training. ;)
