Alas, poor Razor Crest, we barely knew ya. It's a gunship, pre-Empire and untraceable, a portable carbon-freeze chamber, an aresenal, a flying apartment, a nursery, frog lady taxi, blurg transport... The Swiss Army Knife of spacecraft.

It survived an ice dragon, Jawas, bounty hunter dog fights, crashing through a frozen cave, ice spiders, the boldest prison break on TV not involving a stair-car, dropping out of orbit and being completely submerged in the sea, and several half-ass repair jobs. After all the beatings that ship took, we were led to believe it was indestructible. We were wrong.

Yep. One of the oddest, and frankly frustrating decisions by the Mandalorian team. I honestly would like to have a discussion with whomever it was that storyboarded the idea of the RC being destroyed, and also, who approved it. I can find no logic to it whatsoever, story-wise. However, there is a monetary aspect to it of course, as we now have two ships we have to buy models of, etc....

    I understand my dear @Lock_S_Foils... and I do sympathise...;)
Remember though, not all tears are an evil, my friend!

I knew that posting it there would be slightly controversial... I nonetheless try not to shy away from harsh realities (or personal views), however painful they might be for some. (As I also prefer the harsh truth over the comfortable lie.)
Because when left unsaid, they might dissappear from the collective conciousness, they yet tend to fester, corrupt and skew our thoughts and views.
Thus they are prone to cause a lot more and more extensive damage, than when met headon!

Also, seeing as this is the countdown to season 3, that will give us the Razor Crests successor... (fighter)
I thought it to be only fair... and fitting to end my post about the Crest with the acknowledgement of its untimely and senseless demise.

If only to remind us all of what was lost. :(

Beside the obvious toy-sales reasons, there is a certain logic to it.
What is more part of "the hero's journey" than the loss of someone/-thing that is trusted, relied upon and a big part of the hero's strength and success?

And it was ofcourse the only way for Grogu to finally have that nice, shiny orb-thingy! :p

As much as it was a shame to see the Crest destroyed, from a story point of view it felt like an expression of rage and intent by Gideon… very much a statement of “don’t mess with me, I’m coming for The Child and all your tricksy manoeuvres aren’t getting you out of here this time” - obviously without him knowing that Fett was close by and about to give Din both an ‘out’ and some solid back up.

There were so many great moments in this show, but the most emotional was definitely this one:

    Grogu Mando.jpg

    So many TEARS. :(

And l although it was not technically in Mandalorian, it paved way for this lovely reunion.

This was a fist pump moment for sure.

99.5 percent of Star Wars fandom would agree with your assessment, m'Lady!!! :)
Their reunion was always going to be a 'tricky' scene given the high-emotion of their parting at the end of S2:E8.

Personally, I thought Favreau solved it beautifully. There was no way that their reunion could come anywhere close to matching their parting. The beauty of this scene is that it allowed for a cute hug from Grogu and Din's reaction to seeing the kid wearing his gift without overly dwelling on it all because they were in the midst of a major battle.
I thought @Master_Farkaz made some great points. One last point is that IT WAS LOGICAL story-wise. It allowed Din to 'hitch a ride' with Boba Fett in Slave One. Personally, I would have recommended to Favreau and Filoni that Moff's missle left the smoking shell of the ship so it could be rebuilt later. But we're all saying this without any knowledge of what Favreau has in store for us down the line. So I have dulely paid my respects to the Razor Crest and look forward to what's in store for us next.

absolutely agree that it was resolved well… but for me it just came way too early.

It was such an emotive parting that it deserved more time to sink in and have an effect. It may be that it had been longer and the TBOBF just didn’t summarise the events and timescale in between well enough.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take what I can get from Mando on tv, but a more protracted period with a bulk of s3 playing out first would have given Grogu returning for the culmination more impact for me.

I feel the same way... sadly their reunion was spoiled for me (I haven't gotten around yet to watch TBoBF yet...), but all I could think was "Wait... WHAT?!! Already??!!!

I thought Luke was going to fully train Grogu... make him unlearn some less preferable things he'd learned and teach him some patience, for instance... :D
I figured he'd be training with him for several years... at least!

But I guess they were afraid to continue Mando without "Baby Yoda"!

Not seeing the logic. We will have to agree to disagree. IMO, the worst decision in the show.

Might just be my apparent heart of ice, but the Razor Crest getting obliterated didn't bother me one bit.

I loved that the only thing he salvaged was the little shift knob and that spear made of beskar. Crazy that beskar can survive even a blow like that. And, he just lost his home/office/all other posessions and all Din is thinking about is Grogu.

I believe this as well... Baby Yoda turned people that were casual Star Wars fans to bonafide Star Wars fans. (yoda 2)

Also, for me, Robert Rodriguez is a hit and miss director; for instance, Sin City is great, 77% Tomatometer, but Sin City: a Dame to Kill for 43% Tomatometer, rotten... Rodriguez is a comic book fan boy like me, I have been following him for years, especially when he said, he would make a Frank Frazetta film. Frazetta is my favorite artist, he is the greatest fantasy illustrator that ever lived, R.I.P., Frank.

I could not believe that they gave him an executive producer role for TBOF, after directing a fan favorite episode of The Mandalorian Chapter 14: The Tragedy.

It was a good episode which showcased all of Boba Fett's FULL arsenal which we have wanted to see for years, but I don't think he should have gotten the executive producer role, and to my dismay, I was right, so many people disliked TBOBF.

I am not one of them, I enjoyed TBOBF simply because my expectations were extremely low, so I enjoyed what I got... VESPA speeder bike gang... ANYONE??? HAHA

I do love the ship! And I tell ya what, if they destroy a ship and it feels like losing a major character they must be doing something right.

    Pinnacle Star Wars heartbreak.

Really thought at the time that could have been "goodbye, forever" and a good part of me is relieved that I don't have to fret about it anymore.

    It's Day...36!

One of my favorite Mando things has been....the Razor Crest's gearshift knob!!!! :) :) :)

I consider it quite the accomplishment that Favreau has been able to have a silver ball prop play a featured role in multiple episodes. How many times has it been? I can think of at least five times.

I was totally in the same space when I first saw that scene - I can't remember where I posted at the time, but recall thinking 'Is that it for Mando and Grogu?', and wondering whether the show would just carry on with Din's next adventure and whether it would survive the loss of 'the asset' which had arguably driven a massive amount of the show's appeal to audiences.
