Excellent! From the opening scene of the first episode, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the comedian cameos and at one point I remember going into each episode wondering who would pop up next. Bill Burr has definitely been one of the biggest surprises with his depth of acting chops. In The Prisoner he had the expected wise-ass role, but he was also a physical powerhouse. I saw him interviewed somewhere where he talked about getting in the physical condition for the role, and how it changed everything. I really do hope he is in season 3 and more, after all, Mando does have an opening in the Mando Avengers roster...

Migs "Hey, let's go fill out those TPS reports" Mayfield is cool like Han "I'm fine, how are you" Solo.

Minus the piloting skills & walking carpet, of course.

    Hey, y'all!

I'll grab another countdown day

One character who REALLY floats my boat in The Mandalorian is Peli Motto; not only is she insanely funny (in that silly SW way) and full of warmth, but she also (almost) literally wades in call-backs and easter eggs! Yes, they are all technically unnecesary, bit it IS very nice and very cool indeed to see droids and ships and references etc. etc. reappear in Star Wars, to make everything feel a more natural part of the vast whole ( <--did that even make sense?)

Furthermore, Peli Motto is a regular galactic citizen, making her way in a world full of destined heroes and super-powered/super-competent individuals, and she therefore functions like an anchor for the mundane in the setting, adding much-needed stakes, relevance, and context to the main-story insanities.

In other words, Peli is a regular gall main character, much in the same way that Rose Tico was, and I love her so much for it <3

"Ah, looks like it remembers me. How much do you want for it? Just kidding. But not really. If this thing ever divides or buds, I will gladly pay for the offspring."

    Gets me every time. :D

She's been a wonderful character who has increased in popularity with every appearance.

Her last appearances (TBoBF:Ep5 &7) were really fun, especially Ep 5 where she and Mando built a souped up 'hot rod' space ship.

For the record, I NEVER needed to know that Jawas were furry. :) :) :)

Wonderful! After yesterday's celebration of Bill Burr as Migs Mayfeld, today is naturally the perfect chance for Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto. I love this woman and I love that Favreau brought her into the Mandoverse. Her look, her attitude, her delivery... Peli provides comic relief plus so much more. I really like the idea of her as an anchor- she is Mando's connection to the "real world" away from the religious zealots, Imperial warlords, space wizards and bounty hunter madness. Aside from Grogu, she has given me the most laugh out loud moments yet also been really touching and heartwarming. I don't really know why, but one of my fave scenes that always makes me chuckle is Peli and... Dr._Mandible.png
Dr. Mandible. It owns me every time.

Side note/Fun fact, it's a very close race, but Amy is my second favorite Sedaris. Her brother, David is a brilliant author and humorist. Check out any of his writings or he has some great appearances on NPR or the podcast Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend.

She's awesome, definitely someone I'd want in my inner circle. You need something, she can make it happen. Ships, maintenance, information, babysitting. Transportation, barbecue. Damn what can't she do??

Leaping in for a third time here as no-one has called it yet...

Another of my favourite aspects of The Mandalorian so far has been the presence of Boba Fett, specifically in Chapter's 14 and 15.

I know that Fett's reappearance hasn't been universally lauded, but as a kid the one thing I wanted was to see more of the 'badass Fett' that his presence and demeanour implied - I wanted to see him kicking butt, firing that backpack rocket and see more of Slave One, specifically how that gyroscopic cockpit that was in my Kenner toy actually worked... and nearly 40 years later, I finally got all of those things!!

    (boba fett)

This. I always wanted to know the purpose of the "antenna" like device on his helmet. Well I/we got that in an extremely satisfying revelation. That scene was sick to death. The rotating interior! Yes! I had the toy when I was a kid and I remember the rotating cockpit. It was the coolest feature of that toy. When we finally got a live action Slave-One in AOTC and that function was not featured, I was highly disappointed to the point of actually being pissed at GL for not including that feature of the ship in the film. What the hell was he thinking?

It stood out how difficult they made it when lil' Boba struggled to get into the pilot's seat! It was so cool when we see that rotating interior finally. You can just tell that Favreau is one of us when he does those little details. The backpack rocket, knee rockets, all those gadgets... Also, just the overall story of how Boba survived the Sarlacc was handled just about perfectly, in my opinion.

You hit that on the head. Where would we be without Favreau/Filoni? They pretty much saved our "he's one of us" ass.
As far as the Sarlac, I'm not a fan of the sequence but I understand the logistics (writing/$) quality of the show. Be that as it may I was underwhelmed. I waited 39 years to see that sequence. I didn't even know we would ever see it in live action but we did and not being a spoiled brat, hey at least we did.

    Countdown to...Day 23

Featuring Baby Grogu (the star formerly known as Baby Yoda and The Child)
Original Concept Art by Christian Alzmann

What Jon Favreau said about this picture:
"It happened with Iron Man, and it happened with The Lion King, you get one image that just CLICKS. You say, "This is It! This is THE ONE!" Although The Child was a character that popped out of my imagination, it really didn't come to life fully until you had all these artists collaborating and finding the essence of who this character was. When it works out well, it's just magical."

Quote from The Art of Staw Wars: The Mandalorian Season One

The book featured a wide assortment of preliminary drawings of The Child (and, for the record, most were cringe-worthy)

Started Mando again from episode 1. Currently in episode 6.
I saw all episodes 2-3 times back in the day but always in the same week, never all together.
The ones that felt "filler" now seem more part of the story and some of them having not a very long runtime helps to fit in the whole point.
The cinematography is so gorgeus and I love the fact to give importance to ships too. Razor Crest is one of the coolest ships of the saga for sure.
It has action and it has a more familiar tone than Andor but i didn't remember it was also that dark and that's so cool.
Original trilogy was for kids but also had a lot of dark moments. I guess that's one reason this show has been well received for the majority. Doesn't forget the action and the family tone but also is serious and it has its adult moments.
And I remember i liked more season 2 so I can't wait for the rest :)

That's an excellent point. I am all for weekly first-run episodes versus giving fans the whole season all at once. The delicious anticipation each week is a lot of fun.

But one of the consequences of that approach is you're always going to have fans who will criticize a particular episode as "filler" when its purpose was always to set up something down-the-road. Often it's only when you watch the story play out as a whole that you realize how vital these episodes were to the season story being told.

While that's not always true with some shows, I would argue it's been the case with The Mandalorian.

I love the prolonged enjoyment of a season released one week at a time. Especially with an awesome community like this that is loaded with interesting theories and speculation. I looked forward to hitting the boards here after each episode of Andor, and I'm expecting a larger and more diverse group once Mando S3 gets going.

Ok, imma dive in again and call out the production art and particularly how they brilliantly decided to incorporate it into the closing credits of each episode.

Being able to see the translation of the concept art to the filmed scenes is a treat, which combined with the aforementioned Goransson score makes you stick around to the end of the credits each episode.
