If it's not my favorite scene of the entire series, it's at least the one that made me the happiest. Such a hilarious random opening, and as a parent of young kids its all too relatable.

    OK. Day 15

Of all the surprising cameos and guest stars JF has brought to the Mandoverse, arguably the biggest and most recognizable star...

Timothy Olyphant as Marshall Cobb Vanth
I had no idea that Cobb Vanth was from a book, so the character was brand new and awesome to me, and I was blown away to see one of my favorite actors in the role. The ultimate Space Cowboy.

I need to re-read Aftermath, because there are so many good snippets and interludes. The Cobb Vanth stuff was one of them, and iirc it was left especially vague to keep you guessing who was under the armor (at least at first). Its been awhile and unfortunately I didn't retain it very well since it was audiobook, but it was definitely one of the more intriguing asides of the series.

Olyphant really brought the character to life as only he could have, very happy to see him brought into the GFFA.

Ps- fun fact, speaking of the cowboy role that Mr. Olyphant fills so easily, one of my kids has the middle name of "Raylan"

I wonder if, given the credits scene in TBOBF, Vanth will be back in the Mandoverse in S3?

A great call there… I really enjoyed Olyphant and the Vanth character - sure there’s the weirdness of how did he end up with Fett’s damaged armour, which has never been properly explained away - but with or without it there’s no denying the character is charismatic addition to the show

If The Mandalorian was a D&D game, Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth, would have an out-of-this-world Charisma score. :)

expanding our insight into the wider Jawa culture has been great… they’re clearly not just a Tatooine based race and there’s more to them than just droid and junk scavenging - although I too had no need for the ‘furry’ insight :D

I loved the fact that they fought back when Mando went after them for stripping the ‘Crest in S1… even if their takedown was pretty brutal!

Ah, tsk tsk, @Lazarus would forget his @Dei if it wasn't attached.
    :D

During the ride out to the Krayt's lair, Vanth told Din how he ended up with the armor. When the Mining Thugs raided Mos Pelgo, Vanth made away with a cannister of something valuable, minerals or credits or crystals, I forget. He wandered the desert trying to get away and was almost dead when the Jawas found him, gave him water and then wanted to trade for his stolen cannister. Vanth chose the armor, which they had stashed in their Sandcrawler.

thanks Dad… I’d forgotten that part!

but did we find out how the Jawa’s came to have it in the first place? …or when Fett outright discarded it?

I LOVE JAWAS!!! Always have. As kids, most of my friends were clamoring to build their army of Stormtrooper figures, I wanted more Jawa and Sandpeople. Mando brought me a new iteration with red eyes and grey robes. So why is it such a thrill and so funny to me when Mando vaporizes them? And the egg!? Wtf? My whole life, of all the Star Wars quotes burned into my vocabulary, two were Jawa. I don't know what they are or mean, but to me "Ooh tee dee" and "Daaamit" were 2 of my favorite. Now we have "Sooogah". We also have a better idea of the massive sandcrawler, inside and out. Yeah, so maybe Peli overshared with her intimate knowledge of Jawas, but I always thought I knew what was under a Jawa robe... il_fullxfull.4126216400_doxa~2.jpg

That was covered in TBoBF. I think once Fett blasted out he was inches from death and blacked out because, you know, Sarlacc. I think it showed the jawas stripping him of and scavenging his armor among the rest of the sail barge wreckage and leaving him for dead, where he stayed until the tuskens found him.

Yessir. BoBF episode 1. After he "climbs from the maw of the beast..." While lying there exhausted, the Jawas strip him for parts like a Beemer in a bad neighborhood.

Wasn't that explained in one of the comics?

No, I haven't read those but I remember vaguely that it was either stolen off his back when he passed out, after escaping that Sarlacc hell, or he traded it, in exchange for being nursed back to health... something like that.

Cause I don't think he outright discarded it as such.

Hey, Jealousy (favoring Mando over Boba) doesn't suit you well, MB. i know that was a stretch but its only way i could think to tie things together....
    :p

I know TBoBF wasn't quite everyone's cup of tea... but I thought it was like watching a live-action comic book, and I loved it. @Master_Farkaz you should def watch it before Mando S3!!

I always make it a point to go into a movie or a new series, without expectations or assumptions.
(Though there have been movies {Twilight-franchise} and series {Rings of Power} I have deliberately avoided. Either because of the overblown hype or because of the creators apparent disdain for the source material.)

I'm def planning on doing exactly that! ;)
