I think it is Rey's task but she will achieve it through others.
    She will bring back Luke.
She will help Finn emancipate the Stormtroopers and end the FO military threat.
And she will redeem Ben Solo who will in turn destroy Snoke.
Rey, like Luke in ROTJ, will be the person that inspires those around them. In my opinion.

I think Kylo is the big bad. Snoke is backstory on the rise if Ren.

Snoke will never see it coming and be on the receiving end of a Kylo temper tantrum.

Stopping him will be Rey's challenge.

Luke can step aside in the next trilogy.

    1. I think he doesn't want Kylo to do to him what Sideous did to his master.

That's not how the hero journey works though. This story cannot operate on the basis that there might be another trilogy and that Daisy Ridley might sign up again to play Rey. The story has to work for this trilogy, this set of films. And for Rey to truly become the hero she must face the ultimate challenge on her own. If Luke is in the picture then this cannot happen. He'd always be there to guide and support her. He'd be there to physically help her out.

Now, it could be that they reverse everything. Maybe Rey turns bad? Maybe Kylo becomes the hero? Maybe Luke turns evil? That is all possible I guess.
But if Rey is the hero then I am afraid Luke must step aside...permanently.

exactly and with his terrible backstory between ROTJ and TFA, I want Luke to achieve something lasting in this trilogy. Luke can step aside in the next one and then it is completely Rey's main task.

This is why I like the force draining theories as it allows Luke to play a role as mentor to Rey (and hopefully Finn) without being a deus ex machina. Obi Wan was in the prequels, he passed the flame to Luke, who in turn will pass it to (most likely) Rey. These are new stories with new characters.

Luke will undoubtedly train whoever kills/defeats Snoke, but I just can't see him doing the deed himself - it's sloppy storytelling more than anything else.

My money is on Kylo actually...

That's the problem, so far these are the same stories with new characters.
This would be cool, as long as Kylo kills him in order to succeed him as big bad and not due to redemption.
