Have to say I completely agree with you here. Maybe it's intentional and not the end all top of the food chain big bad in this trilogy. At least that's what I'm hoping is the case.

Or better yet....what if he foresees his demise and escapes back to the unknown regions just to return another day??

That is interesting indeed. No death at all. It would definitely be a twist no one seen coming... or would have to know about.

That way its assumed he is dead but if they ever wanted to bring him back they could.

    Yes.

But he wont nessecarily remain distant. I would love to see Luke fight an epic force powers battle. Let's see him in his fully realised Jedi powers as a Jedi Master defeat Snokum.

In essenence, that would be great if you could make it work. But how would you make any of that at compelling viewing? Tough ask.

Leading up to the final showdown scene I proposed earlier, there could be a split-up group searching for Snoke on Snoke's massive remote outpost :

Luke and Kylo, or Luke and Rey, or Finn and Rey, or Fin and Kylo.

Each of them have to overcome odds, such as Snoke's traps, Force powers, and protectors, perhaps even the Knights of Ren and some advanced droids and/or Dark Side spirits.

This would allow for a rapidly paced scene full of effects, Force powers, collaborative acrobatics between the heroes, and energy.

Imagine this intensity fueled by incredible a John Williams soundtrack, perhaps something along the lines of "Duel of the Fates," but even more dire sounding.

Then suddently the soundtrack shifts to Snoke's droning choral theme for this ultimate showdown scene:

Now, having overcome all that, the next scene is this, which shows how our heroes, having individually (through their separate character arcs) and collectively (through their combined wits and strength and faith in each other and the Force) survived, and, most importantly, how they band together in this final moment to show Snoke the true power of the Force through peace and compassion even as Snoke responds with a maelstrom of a Force Storm.

While certainly not easily pulled off, if done properly, I think that can be heart-poundingly edge-of-seat awesomeness and give this saga an entirely new dimension: breaking the ages-old cycle of misery and destruction by winning through the very thing Snoke does not expect them to do.

I loves your smarts, but will gave to consider this more when I'm sober tomorrow. You are a bit too abstract for me in my current state. I still dont get how this would translate on screen effectively. Posting so I know where to check when I wake up tomorrow, when I dont even remember foruming.

I'm actually all for Luke saving the day. I'd love for Luke to be the hero into his old age instead of being yet another mentor who passes the torch to a younger character.

If there's going to be an Episode X, this would make sense. Otherwise Episode X would be TFA all over again.

I must have missed that part in the movies ;)

And I want something more than just throwing stuff at each other or force lightening. Not sure exactly what.

Plot twist: Leia kills Snoke for corrupting and taking away her son.

But I feel Kylo will realize Snoke is using him and other variables play into Kylo turning back to the light halfway to more towards then ending of ix and gets Rey and maybe Luke to help take Snoke down but ultimately Kylo will kill him

At the end, Snoke will possess Rey's body as he intended with Anakin. The Dark shall win this Trilogy. Hopefully before that she will have some babies. Luke may live on for the next trilogy.

How will Snoke find his final destiny? My guess is an end fight with Rey and Kylo.

    Yep, I also think so.
Snoke kills Luke, thus Kylo will emerge back from the dark side to the light. As Ben Solo and together with Rey he will bring an end to Snoke.

i'd vote for Hux, but he's not on the list!

i want to see the ginger nazi surprise everyone by taking out the big cheese and revealing himself to be the true big bad.
or maybe Snoke just decides to steal Hux's body once Kylo Ren proves to be less than cooperative.

then Luke can lop all his arms and legs off ~ after Finn kicks him in the teeth.
then he gets sent to some horrid moist planet where he can't do anything but eat mud and contemplate his evil self 'til the end of time.

If Luke isn't killed or doesn't pass on before the end of the ST, IMO it doesn't necessarily mean that he would be standing in the way of Rey's journey.

As for Snoke's downfall, I would hope for it to be Luke who kills him, but also think Kylo Ren killing him would be fitting. That being said I don't know that Snoke's dark-side group follows the same dynamic as the Sith or other dark-side orders. As dark-siders I would assume so, but I'm can't say for certain.

I'm afraid it means exactly that. Kenobi was never going to be the warrior hero in the OT but he had to step aside because Luke couldn't even have a mentor around anymore. Same as Yoda. The hero needs to be alone completely when they face their final challenge. If Luke is around in any capacity, then Rey will always have that support. And we will think he can step in at any time. The hero needs to be alone. They need to face the challenge alone. And we as an audience need them to do this alone.

This isn't about Luke Skywalker anymore. He is handing down the saber to the new hero. Do we just have such a hero standing around doing nothing whilst Rey goes off and fights the good fight? That would be terrible. Luke must bow out in some way. And I imagine he will do it in the same way Kenobi or Yoda did.

It's something they need to deal with now anyway as if there are any more trilogies after this, then they'll just have to deal with Skywalker's demise then. Best deal with it now, use it to great dramatic effect and allow Rey's hero journey to be told.
