That's amazing because I have something very simular on a dry erase board, complete with decapitated head and Xed out eyes.

 

I think D23 makes the most sense but who knows. So far with the teasers, they've been very good at only showing us scenes we've already heard about or that were leaked somehow for the most part. They could do the same with this trailer, except now the toys could be added to the mix. Show us a trailer with a few more new characters and settings( i.e. real images of some of the leaked lego characters, longer versions of the new glimpses from the BTS featurette, and any of the characters whose toys are planned to be released on force friday) but don't give away much of anything we haven't heard before.

It's been rumored that there will be waves of toys being released, which makes total sense from a marketing standpoint. I may be wrong but I haven't seen it said officially anywhere that what is being released on Sept. 4th are all the toys and sets for the film so I imagine there will be many more released right around Christmas that include characters and ships and all manner of things we won't see until the release of the movie. If it was me, I would do it this way too. Release all the toys related to things we've already seen( I'm including the potential new trailer in this) and then around the time the movie comes out, hit us with the rest.

Watch them not drop a trailer until October and nullify my whole point

There is some kind of expo happening in NYC in October? (I think AMC jedi council was debating about that) Who knows. I kinda like that they are making us wait though... I was almost not excited about seeing a trailer so soon after teaser 2 (referring to Comicon), building up the anticipation is doing quite a number on me (haha).

 

What would make the most business sense to me would be a trailer release at D23, which would allow Star Wars to capture the cultural zeitgeist and introduce, at least moreso than they have already, the characters and situations their merchandising will be centered around. This would be crucial, seeing as Force Friday being a success seems to be a big deal for them (considering they announced it all the way back in May). You need a trailer that really sells the idea of Star Wars back to the general public before your big, all-in-one toy release.

Now of course D23 isn't in the fall, though technically, neither is Force Friday. However, many, many people's (myself included) personal calendars separate their seasons by the months, and I know my personal designation for the beginning of Autumn is September 1. I'd have to imagine that's the longest they'll wait. It's hard to see them waiting later than 3 1/2 months until opening day to release the first full trailer of perhaps the most highly anticipated movie of all time, at least in my book. It's rather unheard of in this day and age for a blockbuster.

 

I just can't see them releasing the toys without the trailer. I'm thinking labor day weekend (friday morning) on iTunes trailers just like the did with teaser #1.

 

the more i think about it and read about it, i think there is a high chance that D23 gets footage but not the trailer. They are confiscating all recording devices which hints at footage but jj has said it's a "fall trailer" and not many sites are reporting differently. I think an out of context clip like rey approaching the Star Destroyer for salvage might be shown just to blow the roof off the place.

 

IDK, August - September tends to be for flop films (i.e. Simone) or films with limited appeal much like January (which ranges from shitty, post-Christmas horror to Blue Valentine).

 

I think the next triler will hit in October.no trailer for D23, perhaps footage.
Hopefully we get a scene or 2.
I don't think they will unveil the figures either....that will happen on forcefriday, and even those wont spoilthemovie...

 

Yes, that's exactly what I said. To Hollywood summer ends by mid August. Astronomically, summer is from June 22 to September 23. Meteorologically, summer is from June 1 to August 31. For Hollywood it's May 1 to about August 10.

 

Oh no that's doodle of deviousness.

 

The Disney stock is taking a beating the last few days. Expect the board of directors and Bob Iger to push for a new trailer sooner rather than later.

The full trailer will arrive when it arrives and it will be on the internet. I can guarantee it.

 

I dont think we need another trailer, we've seen enough and heard enough. We havent technically seen Leia or Luke but we are ready to countdown. Lets go in with surprises and not looking at a trailer that says the movie. In my opinion trailers have really destroyed a movie, i know you want to sell a movie but ive always said if a movie is good it will carry from word of mouth, not through 3 full trailers that spoil the whole plot.

 

I want to see another trailer and i know we will see another trailer. So good times ahead fellas.
