Actually I think they used the weapon that they had in there stores from the TFA shots and used it in Solo. This knight had that weapon in TFA already.

Good to find a thread about the KoR.
Questions I still have, and hope they get resolution in TROS:

    1. Where were they during the events of Episodes VII and VIII? Were they in prison or hibernation? Or were they doing First Order's businesses? I prefer the former. That could be a reason to hate Kylo.

    2. Are they Force sensitive? All indicates that no, but wouldn't it be cool?

    3. Why was Kylo 'the master' of the group? Snoke told him "Even you, master of the Knights of Ren, have never faced such a test".

    4. What was the original purpose of the group? All we know if that they were an elite group of warriors. Hoping JJ expands on this.

    5. Was the KoR an equal opportunity employer? LOL. Will we see their faces?

I really hope they don't waste them. They should be an unstoppable force, capable of kicking both Rey and Kylo's *ss at the same time.

However, while I don't want them to show their faces, I hope for some characterization, unlike Snoke's praetorian guard.

    So many possibilities.

I hope they are not waisted but how is Kylo their master and leader if your second statement were to be the case?

In Aftermath, they are made out to be a group of Sith worshippers who travel the GFFA in search of anything and everything having to do with the Sith. I think they find a Sith lightsaber in one part of the story. They are - I believe - an elite group within another larger cult called the Acolytes.

If you have not read the Aftermath books, I HIGHLY recommend you do.

The KOR don't work for the FO. Appatently in TROS they return from the Outer Rim with really bad news for Kylo.

TLJ indicated that Kylo took some of his fellow students. So maybe some of them became the Knights of Ren. But I doubt it. Every single KOR has an unique weapon:
    hj7hip5satl01.jpg

They woreship Vader, so it just makes sense for them to have an offspring as their master.

Personally I hope at least one KOR will be personified. I kinda hope for "The Rogue" being Matt Smith's character.
It's not confirmed that they are the KOR though. This is just speculation, but very good speculation.

The Knights of Ren are not mentioned in The Aftermath novels. There are the Acolytes of the Beyond who are dark side/ Sith worshipers. Whether there is any connection is yet to be determined.

The descriptions of the "unknown group" in Aftermath matches the KOR. And the writing - at least to me - indicated they were affiliated with the Acolytes. But you're right - they are not officially identified.

    1. They were on other First Order destroyer groups. In TFA preparing to attack systems once the Republic Fleet was destroyed and capital destroyed. In TLJ they were taking over systems while Snoke, Hux and Kylo were dealing with the leadership of the Resistance.
    2. Yes. I expect them to be the other students of Luke's that left with Kylo.
    3. See 2.
    4. See 2.
    5. Maybe some.

As for them being the Accolytes from the Aftermath books. Maybe they gathered information/artifacts from them, but dont think they are the same. Those people would be about 30 years older by the time TFA comes around.

Good point - I did not think of that. I think the group in Aftermath are 'elite' Acolytes - kinda the KOR before they are called the KOR. It's not known, but it just seems to be that the KOR would be some sort of off-shoot of the Acolytes. But you and others on this thread are right - this is 100% speculation.

Maybe this will get answered in TROS, but my guess is no - it won't :(

There are too many characters to deal with, (that's why Boba Fett was killed off early in ROTJ in such a lame capacity, too many characters to deal with).

Look how they used Phasma?!? (same director nothings gonna change).

Now there's Zorri Bliss, Knights of Ren, Allegiant Gen. Pryde, possible Palpatine( what version who knows), and most of all Kylo Ren.

Unless its a 3 hour film, the KoR are just gonna be eye candy, and die lame deaths.

I think I see Kylo Ren killing one in the trailer, like bantha fodder.

I'm not gonna get invested in the KoR, speculate away, its fun dreaming... OY Vey.

Kylo Ren and the KoR will be better served in a book, released during the 3 year film hiatus. We'll get some juicy tidbits then, while we wait for a Kotor film in 2022...:D

Fun fact: Boba Fett was meant to be the main villain of the the first version of ROTJ.

The fans hyped Phasma, not the director. But JJ always wanted to make a movie about the KOR. So I guess we'll definitely get something. Thanks to the Vanity Fair photo shooting we know, the Knights will at least live on until the second act.

    MSW also said:
There is one scene were Kylo and the KOR storm are castle structure and then Kylo's mask gets reforged there in a very ceremony like way. I guess this is the scene from the trailer with Kylo slaughtering a villager.

So I think there is a lot of cool KOR stuff coming our way.

I’m pretty sure Dominic Monaghan is a KOR. I’m also theorize that they will betray Kylo.

If I remember correctly the leaked character stills earlier this year showed a picture of him in a Resistance uniform

    Yes, he's a Resistance member
    [IMG]

Regarding the KOR: I really hope one (or even more of them) gets personified. My original hopes were that one of them would be a women who is obsessed by Kylo Ren, but I guess that's no story JJ wants to tell xD
Now I think Matt Smith will be the one Knight who plays a key role. Will he challenge and disobey his Master? Will he be possessed by Palaptine and fight Kylo and Rey? So many opportunities.

Easy. Kylo might be the most powerful individual (or the one with more potential) of the group. He might be able to take down any member individually but when they work as a team, Kylo is no match for them.

Also, if they had been working on their own since TFA, apart from having increased their power, maybe they don't need Kylo anymore.

Man, I'm trying to avoid any kind of spoilers, but they look sooooooo badass. Love their design.

This could be the very first time we see a large group of dark side users work as a team (not counting the Inquisitors) and I'm all for it.

The KoR are very a intriguing and mysterious (read: underused) group, and it will be exciting to see what they are about in RoS :D

I sort of assume that they are there partly to advance the plot (i.e. introduce whatever exposition needed launch the RoS plot), and partly as mid-level bosses for Ray to fight over the course of the film (but I'm not so sure about this anymore -- see below), and finally as part of whatever 3rd act finale conflict the movie will have, be it (the remaining) KoR vs. Rey & Kylo (with the other Resistance fighters battling the First Order) or as Kylo's retinue in a fight vs. Rey & whomever fights beside her in the end.

So yeah, I expect we'll see quite a bit of the KoR in this film although they will hardly have fleshed out characters and personal arcs; they will mostly be exposition machines and obstacles for our heroes (and possibly villain?) to mow down along the way. (Remember, we have 3 or so hours left of the saga, which leaves little room for previous unknowns to shine; it is going to be the main ST characters & whatever Palpatine is cooking all the way).

I originally expected Rey to go on a treasure hunt, with Kylo sending Ren Knights after her (which she then ends up fighting mid-movie or thereabouts), but with the rumored...

    Flash Force Fighting

...thing, I'm no longer sure if this Ren Knight mid-movie fight will be necessary.

Personally, I think it would be pretty cool if Rey fights a Ren Knight as part of some in-media res opening scene, and then we cut to knights reporting back to Kylo, establishing him as (still) their master.

Time will tell, but the excitement is ramping up hard! :D

I've always assumed they where going to be force users, but the fact none of them are armed with lightsabers pushes back on this a bit.

Maybe a few of them have lightsabers. In the Concept Art book of TFA you can see a knight with a lightsaber.
Kylo could also be the only one who is allowed to use a lightsaber.

    There are many possibilities.
