The Rian Johnson Thread

In an interview with Screen Rant, Rian Johnson stated that none of the fans have correctly predicted any of the major reveals/plot points and suddenly I’m terrified.

 

But, but, I read a “plot synopsis” on Reddit that unimpressed me therefore the movie must suck.

It's not going to matter to him. He considers the edit that we will see HIS final cut, which is cool. Confident too.

 

Oh Yea, I totally agree. I was just thinking of how much was left out of R1 that was in the trailers. I know some does hit the cutting room floor but R1 had a lot.

A lot of that was down to the pretty substantial changes that they made to the film last summer, and it’s important to remember that everything they do costs money; even if it isn’t in the final cut of the film, why not just send it off anyways if it’s a cool looking shot (and fully rendered of any CG’s involved)?

 

Yea, totally, esp if the shot is complete. I guess it has to be meaningful. Like I could have been in the movie but need to be cut for time and continuity. Guess a lot of R1 would have been meaningless since a lot was changed/added and it would have contradicted what was seen in the movie.

The porgs is in the movie to sell toys. So Rian has flaws.

Some people are just sad. Its a movie. If you don't like it, just move on with your life! and his "spoiler" he heard may be total BS. I"ll believe what I see.

 

I agree. That person has some serious issues and needs help.

 

Bet he still puts down the cash to go see it!

Just want to say that it is tragic and sad that Rian receives death threats.

 

It's the part of every fandom that we all hate; You just can't please everyone unfortunately. Some people are just unstable i guess; you'd have to be to wish death on a person for making a movie. Sad.

 

Very sad to see the threats against RJ. The attitude in the Post-Premiere Spoilers thread right here in the Cantina, isn't much better.

I'm very much looking forward to actually seeing the film, and THEN considering it. He's proven already that he's such a talented and genuine person. I'm still very optimistic.

 

It reminds me of when JJ told DR that she was getting into something that was far bigger than she could ever imagine. There are idiots out there who will do stupid things like this. And, as you noted, the attitude in the Post-Premiere Spoilers is just over the top. People complaining about just idiotic minuscule stuff as if it is the end of the bloody world.

Personally, I think it will be an excellent film and I expect to be highly entertained. And I, for one, am simply happy to see new films being made. I remember the dark days (85/86) when there was nothing but silence on the Star Wars front. Those were dark days indeed.

 

There have been people over in the Finn thread saying very similar things. Hoping he died during filming, etc. Pathetic.
