There is a genuine backlash building against The Last Jedi

There are multiple people who seem to really get jazzed up trying to comprehend how some people don't like this film. They seem to be unable to think there are legitimate reasons for not liking the film as you said. Calling people racist, bigot or neckbeard is immature really. In 2017 people don't debate anymore, instead they try and attack the person they debate with personally, to marginalize them. Kinda frustrating when I came here to discuss my sadness over the film.

Like I said, this was in reference to stuff actually found on a series of MRA threads. If that doesn't apply to you, then feel free to not worry about it being applied to you.

Using Box Office scores to validate your own personal opinion about a film is pointless.

 

Allocine (France): currently 3 out of 5
Filmaffinity (Spain): currently 6.5 out of 10
IMDb: currently 7.7 out of 10 (ROTS is a 7.6)
Rotten Tomatoes currently 3.2 out of 5 (54% like)
Metacritic currently 4.8 out of 10

The press are circling the wagons trying to find someone to blame, as they are nearly all liberals (so am I) in big cities, they've picked their eternal enemies and punching bags - the conservatives - to blame, especially with Rotten Tomatoes currently saying it's not bots.

There is a huffington post article that disagrees with you. It sources the Rt guy.
The rt have went to their PR to deny the mess. Classic move.

 

It doesn't have to be bots. Especially with less than 150,000 reviews, it doesn't look like it would even need to be bots.

There are just a lot of users spamming 1/2 stars.

Seriously- it's fine if you don't like it. But a 1/2 star? That's just stupid. I'd give Tommy Wiseau's The Room a higher rating.

Yet, if you look at user ratings, there are a ton of 1/2 star reviews, often accompanied by a short sentence as a "review" (thanks for the new generation of jaded wannabe reviewers, Ciname Sins)

There's a vocal minority who are used to spamming the internet with their negativity. Just look at the newer accounts that are flooding these forums to post "this is horrible." Even a vocal minority for a film like this means numbers in the millions.

If the numbers are being spammed low and in quick numbers, then it's bots or trolls.

GQ and Huffington Post and Forbes are blaming conservatives. But conservatives have been on the internet for years and this movie isn't targeted any more than TFA was and all movies in general are. I am a liberal myself.

 

There is clear evidence of scientific audience scores that show more than 80% of audiences like the film. So it's basically do you trust polls that are easy to manipulate vs. scientific polls that studios use to make decisions? This is logical decision and an easy one.

 

I see polls can only be manipulated in one direction. They are never manipulated for a purpose and should always be trusted when they agree with you. Got it.

 

I'm sure the guy who accuses Disney of "making" both Luke and Poe gay, and specifically cites his hatred of more women in the franchise, for the reason of targeting TLJ, is doing it to all films.
