My son wanted to make a TLJ inspired film when we were on the Moors today, so I obliged*...

*It was all my idea.

I'm sure he'll always remember that.

I remember my dad packed my bicycle when he took me to see the theater re-release of ROTJ (my first time seeing it) so that afterward I could bike around the parking lot and pretend to be on a speederbike. ROTJ remains my favorite film in the saga, and I'm sure this played a role in it.

Watched it three times since the start of the weekend. Absolutely love the film.

Still, doesn't quite hit the heights of TESB (not sure any Star Wars film will again) but it's fully cemented itself as one of my favourites in the whole saga.

Superb film. It has everything.

 

I hope so. All part of my plan to brainwash him into being as obsessed by SW as I am!

OK guys, you can move me from someone who hated the movie on my first viewing in the theater, to REALLY enjoying it on my 2nd viewing on BluRay tonight. I don't have time to go in details as I will give my new review when I get a chance. But I'm glad I hung around here for 3 months and I vented to fans who hated it, listened to fans who loved it, tried to process everything, and then finally gave it another shot. Everytime I think I'm out.......they bring me back in!!!!!!

 

If I could find one, I’d be posting a “Poe/BB8 ohh buddy!” Gif right about now.

TLJ can be a tough pill to swallow but often rewards multiple re-watches.

 

i struggle with it every day (and watch it every day) XD

 

I'm not ashamed to eat crow because I hate 'hating' a SW movie, so I am always going to give it another shot, and another, etc. I really think for me personally, the jarring things like Luke throwing the saber were almost like a right hook to the face and then I never recovered on that initial viewing in the theater. I was more in a daze walking out that night with a friend of mine as we looked at each and said, "What the F*** was that?"

I think the best thing I did was not to go back and see it right away as I sort of went on these forums and tried to listen to fans who liked it, and try to see why this was so divisive. I'm almost to the point where I can't trust my initial reaction to a SW film anymore as the 2nd experience has always been better. I liked TFA at first, but loved it on the 2nd viewing. I was meh on R1, and then really enjoyed it on the 2nd viewing. I did not like TLJ, but I absolutely enjoyed it last night.

It's almost like Disney planned it that way so they can get my money twice!

 

i had this exact experience watching it the first time, but much later in the film. pretty much from the moment Leia said "i held out hope for so long, but i know my son is gone" i didn't hear or comprehend anything on the screen from then forward, and staggered out of the theatre thinking: what the h-e-double hockey sticks did i just watch?

it was definitely a painful experience. as we left the theatre, my sister was on and on about "the best Star Wars movie yet!" and i was just: "whaaaaaaa happened...." fortunately the shock didn't have to last too long since i had tickets for the next day with another friend. and i actually stayed focused the second time ~ ha! : D

 

Wow, good for you. I hope other people experience this as well.
