So currently it's sitting between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

As someone who like those films, that doesn't really scare me.

It will probably not have the same divide between critics and audiences, which for TLJ was bizzarely scewed.

Both critics and audiences will feel this is lacluster, guessing around 50-60 % approval for both.

Well, I have read all spoiler-free reviews linked on RT. Yes, all of them. Simply for the fact that I want to come from a place of education when discussing these matters. I went in to my read of these totally unprejudiced except for hoping it is a good movie. It honestly, from the reviews, sounds like it is not. 59% on RT with 111 reviews? For a Star Wars movie? That's pretty shocking to me. It is going to easily be the worst-reviewed film of the franchise. Shocking. SHOCKING. They had so much time to do this right. There was NO NEED to rush this out. None. And they had such opportunity to craft a compelling end, and so much to work with that they set up already in TFA and TLJ. It just sounds like, instead, they decided to dump so much of that and rather than tie everything together, shoehorned in a totally different story that doesn't spring from those threads. I just wanted a good movie, man. Just give us a good story. That's all most of us want. It sounds like it's.....not. It sounds like it's pretty uneven. And to me, that's a real, real shame.

I think we can put this theory to rest. Here's yet another controlled survey showing that vast majority of Star Wars fans liked The Last Jedi.

I won't comment too much about TROS until I see it, but I was expecting a safe predictable fan service film from JJ. That's what he's good at doing. Fans will enjoy it, but those looking for surprises might be disappointed.

Interesting citing a far left leaning political advocacy group’s “controlled” survey as evidence. I find it telling they never claimed it was scientific polling and the interpretation of their “data” at the end just shows how full of bile and bias it was.

And with 130 reviews in its back to 55%. No worries for me though as there are plenty of movies I really enjoyed with numbers similar or lower.

I agree. Besides I don’t think anyone should go into any movie using what others say as a barometer.

@Travcon Same here. I like, for example, Justice League. Yeah it has problems, but I like it. I don't feel the need to argue with people about it either. Same for Green Lantern. I just like it. Not going to try and convince anyone else that it is a good film. Oh, and Superman vs. Batman. Another bad film that I like.

So basically if these critics are to be believed.. it's a 7 or 8 at best. Somewhere between The Last Jedi and Revenge of the Sith.

What most critics dislike, not all, I like and what most critics like I dislike, usually. Interchangeable for me really. Everybody's different.

To be fair, I only value the opinions of about 4 critics on the planet and they're yet to review it (r2-d2)

Holding out hope, surely it's going to have 10/10 direction at the very least (like TFA)

'Critic' isn't even a real job, and the disingenuousness of coming out of the premiere of this movie with glowing reactions only to turn around and trash it less than 48 hours later is yet more proof of that.

    Godzilla: King of Monsters
    Oblivion
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
    TRON: Legacy
    Man of Steel

Are a few movies sitting in that score ballpark from the critics that I really liked.

Art is subjective. This is true.

Subjectively, I sincerely disliked all of those.

To each his own, I suppose. Just give it a fair shot and go from there. Whether people like your opinion and your reasons for it really has no bearing on the matter.

Just watched Mando's TROS sneak peak and enjoyed it. Looks like a fun romp. Star Wars brings out the fun in me and it reminds me of my childhood.

Yes, I would like some serious, badass, cool film inspired by Kotor, but I'm going in with an open mind.

If I have good time, that's all I'm asking for. For me, critics like or dislike films/art for personal reasons. I'm not gonna get caught up on someone else's perspective... the only one that really matters is mine. :D

I also like Man of Steel, Suicide Squad, and Batman v. Superman. I own all those films. I don't buy films I hate. I try to forget films I hate and I don't waste time on films I hate. I own all the Star Wars films including TLJ and SOLO. I do not waste time on things I hate. I would not spend money on things I hate... If you hate TLJ and you own it... OY VEY.

Scoring below AOTC and just above TPM. Surely it can't be that bad.
