None of them really bother me. I think all the options listed while not necessarily my favorite rumors can be executed well and not hurt the film. Han's death can be an emotional gut punch like no other. Luke in 1-2 scenes I'm fine with. Luke's whereabouts (or the lack of knowing them) is going to propel a lot of the story. We also will likely see more of him in VIII. The falling lightsaber is one of my least favorite rumors but it does not bother me. As @Rebo said, I'll wait until after the movie to criticize it if I find something is unsatisfactory

    1) BB-8 - I truly worry that I am going to walk away from this film thinking "it would have been perfect if they had just toned down the use of this droid a little more."

    2) Maz - Sounds like she's plays a deeper role than we think and possibly even into the next film. She has weird bug eyes and is red(ish), I just hope she doesn't look like an ant and is as badly rendered as Yoda was for most of the prequels.

    3) The flashbacks - Not the device itself, only that it signals cumbersome back story. Star Wars (for me) works best when it tells stories like Fairy Tales and linear progression of time is critical to the simplicity of those kinds of stories. The heavier the exposition gets, the less the real payoff becomes. Check out Episode IV for its simple structure, I don't want the plot to be a garbled mess of spaghetti with lots of loose ends like Lost. Star Wars works best when it tells neat, compact stories that you could retell to a child in bed just as easily as you recant the tale of Red Riding Hood or an Aesop's Fables. If you don't believe any Fairy Tale can be good, I'd say you remind me of the kid in Princess Bride and I'll try to send you Peter Falk to read you a bedtime story. :)

BUT STOP - can we get a thread where I can list what I am excited about from all the spoilers? Because it would outnumber this list by 10 to 1.

I think Maul doesn't have the charisma necessary for being the main antagonist of the sequels! He's basically just a brainwashed thug without any deptht IMO!

The sabre falling from space will drive me absolutely bananas if it just alone in space, and we are given no idea why and then it magically descends to the planet. Or it is implied that the force is involved ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH ;)

I created this scenario in my head :p

If you want that scene to have plausibility to it, as I've mentioned before, have the sabre floating in space with debris from the Jakku battle, basically a debris ring around Jakku that highlights the scale of the battle. From there, zoom into the debris, as it zooms in you notice that some of closer debris is beginning to enter the atmosphere as it has finally hit a decaying orbit, finally zoom in on the sabre, which gives the impression it was on one of the ships, as the debris gets pulled in, the sabre falls with it, cut to the planet, a villager watches debris streaking in, as Jakku is a scavenger planet, people realise that most of the debris will survive re-entry as its military grade hull debris. The villager finds some debris off to the side away from the majority impact zone, but there is another object, picks it up, accidentally activates, BUZZZ blue blade appears, he figures its something valuable, taken to the vicar, the vicar knows and the rest is history ;)

Maybe is giving orders during the space battle of Jakku while Luke will say something during his confrontation with Kylo.

Fine by me. The new characters and villains should be the focus of the movie and trilogy.

Fine by me. I would have been fine with Han and Leia having minimal screentime as well so long as their characters as last they were seen in Return of the Jedi were maintained. But Han is filling in the function of Qui-Gon (TPM) and Obi-Wan (ANH).

Fine by me...except for when the rumor was that there was a hand attached to it floating out in space. I mean that's not the imagery you really the way you want to start your trilogy story out with.

Fine by me...so long as it's not Death Star 3.

Here's some plot elements I don't like reading about:

    1) Flashbacks in the Star Wars movie narrative. It makes it too much like every other darn modern movie out there. Star Wars works best in the here and now.

    2) The Blue Lightsaber of Anakin/Luke is now like the Infinity Stones (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and the One Ring (The Lord of the Rings). There is now a relay race where the object is passed from one character to another over and over and over and over again in the movie before arriving in its final destination. I get that they want the heroes to use a lightsaber in this movie but wasn't there a less clunky way of doing that, instead of the artificial contrived scarcity of having one lightsaber passed around?

    3) Supreme Leader Snoke. Oh dear I hope he's not just a rehash of the Emperor Palpatine concept with some VFX pasted on top.

    4) Things that retroactively make the last movie in the continuity (Return of The Jedi) pointless or ignores what happened within it with the story and the characters.

    5) Leaked description via the Making Star Wars fan site of the final battle comes across as weaker sauce than the battles in The Phantom Menace and A New Hope.

Yeah i never really understood the super weapon concern (outside Death Star 3), everything about the first order screams military and dictatorship, of course they are going to develop weapons for power projection.

I'd like the idea of a small group of Jedi existing, but operating like something closer to a secret society. Invthis scenario, Luke doesn't want to repeat the mistakes of the previous order amd refuses to allow the Jedi to attach themselves to any government, even one his sister heads.

They act swiftly and covertly only when they feel there's great danger to a large number of lives.

I'm going into this film with open mind and heart and I am so, so excited.

That being said, almost all of rumors concerning Luke bother me in some way: from his minimal screen time to him being a hermit and basically accomplishing nothing in 30 years. With so much emphasis on them honoring the OT, frankly I don't see how some of these rumors could be true. I have no problem with minimal screen time if he has a larger (not main, that's for the new kids) role in the following movies. But, the fact that he apparently failed and just gave up - that just bothers me. When he was half-trained padawan, he fought Vader to save his friends. He gave himself up to Vader to try and help him to the light side. I can't see him just leaving everything and everyone.

That being said, maybe all of it is explained so well that it will blow my mind. I have faith.

So far the one that has bothered me the most (may not still be the case) was about boba being a title and passed on and a new boba in the movie.
He was a cool character, let's create new cool characters, not just keep shuffling in old ones.
    Hell if rather see IG88

I think any rumors regarding Anakin possibly still being alive, like only the suit was burned or him not really being Luke's father need to be waded up and thrown into a fire pit.

I also don't like the idea of Han and Leia being at odds with each other. The OT did such a great job of letting their romance develop and they finally evolved into a relationship in ROTJ, so I think this would disappoint me to see some script writer just wash that away.

I'm definitely in the minority in voting for Han dying as my least favorite potential spoiler.

For me, it all comes down to the Rebel's victory at the Battle of Endor. For the main three heroes, they suffered and came through this unfathomable struggle by the end of the OT. I know there are more struggles in store, otherwise there would be no VII-IX to discuss, but I always wanted that moment of celebration to remain pure for Han, Leia and Luke. To see them die in a future story (specifically at the hands of their enemies) casts a shadow over the ending in JEDI. Yoda died a noble, stoic death felt right. He taught Luke all that he could given the circumstances. His fight ended well, and he became one with the Force and stood by his former students to congratulate Luke on bringing the Light Side back.

From my point of view, having Han die a violent death chips away at what JEDI gave us.

For me, it really is all about context. If Luke disappeared because he was emotionally crushed and just gave up, that would definitely take something away from the "victorious" ending in RotJ. But if Luke just decided to begin training new Jedis in complete secrecy to ensure their safety, that would be something else entirely.

What concerns me most is how many of the supposed plot details rely on over-the-top coincidences. From Luke's old lightsaber magically winding up on the remote planet where his niece is living in isolation, to the new heroes randomly stealing one of the most significant ships in the history of the galaxy, and then even more randomly bumping into that ship's previous owner and the new protagonist's long lost father. Reliance on coincidence is just poor writing - and it's made no better by trying to cover over it by calling it "the will of the Force".

And really, what could possibly be worse for the film than bad, lazy writing?

The death of Han Solo annoys me alot. (like I don't want to see John Mcclane, Indy or Snake Plissken die).

And the stupid lightsaber that tumbles through Space

What coincidences are you thinking about? Because I can't think of a single OT coincidence that even comes close to the three I mentioned in my previous post.
