SPECULATION What will be Luke's first lines in Episode 8?

Luke: No.

 

I don't think luke will play that big of a role in the next movie or the trilogy as a whole. They have stated over and over that this is about the new generation. Also Luke was the reason they switched writers. Th first one couldn't figure out a story that luke didn't take over once he arrived.

 

Read the article about Rey's parentage Collin Trevow says he wants them to have a big role in his movie so I think it's fair to say Luke will play a decent role in Episode 8

 

Yeah he said he wants luke and leia to play a big roll in 9, he however has yet to even meet them or get into the nuts and bolts of the ep8 script. His statements are based on how he feels after viewing 7

 

I expect Luke to have (sort of) the same amount of screentime as Obi Wan had in A New Hope. Not a small part, but not a huge part..

 

at some stage... Luke is going to steal the show.
it could be episode 8, or it could be 9... but it's coming. if it doesn't i will eat my own underpants.

my opinion of course.. but i think in 8 or 9 Luke will show us why everyone wants to know his whereabouts.

personally, i think Mark Hamill deserves it but maybe that's just me. I know Disney etc don't make billion dollar decisions that agree with my silly thoughts.
He is Star Wars to me probably more than Luke Skywalker is.. if that makes sense.

 

I think that very much as TFA was Han's movie, Episode 8 will be the time for Luke to be the original cast member that accompanies the new cast. He has been alone with the force for a long long time, imagine the power and knowledge he must have gained...

the message i got from JJ at the very end of TFA was 'here he is guys.. not long to wait now'. maybe that's not what other ppl saw, and maybe that wasn't really inferred.. but it's how i felt.

 

I expect Luke to play a large role in the ST, much larger than the roles Obi-Wan and Yoda played in the OT, if only because of the build up to his appearance at the end of TFA and because in a way Luke's task has not been completed. Namely "pass on what you have learned", the re-founding of the Jedi Order. I mean the backstory to the TFA is that Luke's initial attempt at this failed, alongside some healthy familial troubles, so he got depressed and dejected by this and, hopefully, decided to take some time to think about his approach. The TFA was about finding Luke and the rest of the trilogy will be about convincing him to come back and try again because as Lor San Tekka says "without the jedi, there can be no balance to the force"(or something like that): And I don't know about you guys but I don't interpret that as replacing Jedi Luke with Jedi Rey to solve the problem.

Furthermore all these concerns about Luke being largely ignored because he would overshadow Rey are bit overblown. Luke was excluded from TFA to allow the new characters to be introduced and let the audience grow attached to them but now that's done it shouldn't be necessary to keep him out of focus for the rest of the trilogy. If Rey is overshadowed by Luke in the ST or your worried she will be then she must be a poorly written character if people have little confidence in her appeal to the audience.

 

I think a crisis will develop that will mean Rey's training will have to be cut short.
I think Kylo/Snoke will dangle the "I know where your parents are/what happened to your parents" cherry in front of Rey.
Essentially I think Luke will get the blame. Rey will be caught in the middle of light and dark but fall in her battle vs Kylo.
Luke will do what Kenobi wasn't able to do in TESB and step in to save Rey at the end. This will be the Luke moment we have been waiting for.

In IX I think Luke will join the Force, like Yoda and then watch on as Kylo turns to the light and helps Rey destroy Snoke.

 

after hearing the voice of Alec Guinness in TFA.. i actually had the idea that during a Snoke face off moment during ep9 that Luke would realise that his old mentor had shown him the way to strengthen the force and empower a young Jedi.. and that Luke would even hear Alec Guiness saying the immortal line.. "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

I don't want that to happen. I honestly believe and hope that he makes it through this trilogy without that happening. i would be tapping Mark Hamill up for the next trilogy already if i were in KK's shoes. They have made me fall in love with the new generation of characters already... they don't have to go all Game of Thrones on our ass and kill off everyone lol.

 

There is no way Luke is surviving this trilogy. We have new heroes. The alternative to Luke not dying is standing around like a useless sod.
Rey is the new hero. It is her hero journey. Luke has to be removed in some way so Rey can face this challenge alone eventually - as what happens to every hero in every hero journey.

Luke will die and/or join the Force. Probably the latter. Like Kenobi. So don't worry, he won't feel a thing!

 

If we are to be left with a sole jedi at the end of this trilogy (assuming Luke does train Rey) - then yes that probably needs to happen.

we learn in the TFA that Luke had a Jedi Academy - and that all of his students...bit the lightsaber.

I have an episode 9 ending in my head with Luke teaching younglings at a new acadamy.
whilst joining the force is the obvious ending.. it doesn't have to go that way. don't forget.. Yoda was the superior Jedi during the prequels but primarily stayed on coruscant training Jedi whilst less powerful Jedi's were out on missions.

TFA - they needed to get us to care about Rey, Finn and Poe - they did that, now they can unleash Luke in the knowledge that we'll still care about the new cast.

 

in the next movie - - i think Leia should confess ((something BIG)) - - she should confess that she ADOPTED her son, Ben Solo ((aka: Kylo Renn - - Dark Side)).

Luke still doesn't know he has a son - - Luke just found his daughter, the daughter he THOUGHT he lost - maybe to a miscarriage - maybe he didn't know about Rey... maybe his wife got pregnant & never told him about his daughter... maybe he ((like his father, Anakin)) knew his wife was pregnant (with Rey), but maybe she (wife) died, during childbirth... i dunno.

Leia is the one who dropped Rey off, at Jakku. Leia was probably there, when Rey was born - - she had to keep her ((Rey)) away from her brother ((Ben Solo))... because, by the time Rey was born, Ben had turned to the dark side.

i'm a newbie, so don't be too mean to me... this is just my theory... thanx for reading!

 

Luke will definitely have a big role in Episode VIII kind of like Han in TFA. He will obviously serve as the mentor figure to Rey like Yoda in Empire, but I think he will return from his exile and help Leia and the Resistance in some manner.
