Who should play Leia in Episode 9?

    Personally, I think they should recast Leia for E9. The character is more important than the actress. If they go this way, who would you like to see play Leia? Jody Foster? Judi Dench? Someone else? An unknown?

    I would like to see an actress I am unfamiliar with play Leia in E9. That way, I have no preconceived notions about the actress.

    P.S. Please don't reply that they should not recast Leia! That is a separate debate. This is assuming they decide to recast.

    Judi Dench is way too old to be playing Leia but I think a cgi recreation would be the best since the technology has only been perfected further and just cast a body double that has a great physicality like they did for Tarkin
    .

    The only person i think <if they recast> who should play as Leia is Carrie's daughter Billie.

    Now before you say 2 young they can make her look older with cgi and/or makeup.

    Is it not the case that Leia has been written out of the Sequel Trilogy now?

    Am 99% sure I read this was the case via official LFL statement.

    I don't think that they should recast her.

    Personally, I don't think that "the character is more important than the actress." Carrie is Leia. I couldn't see anyone filling those shoes- they'd just feel like an impostor.

    Now, that being said, in situations where Leia's legacy could continue in a way that doesn't necessitate Carrie being replaced, I support it.

    For instance, much like how Carrie doesn't technically play Leia when we read the character in a book (though it's probably that you picture her likeness anyway), I also think that she could be recast at a different age. For instance, I fully support the the idea of Milie Bobby Brown playing a young Leia if we get her in a spinoff movie soon. I think Carrie would, too- I think she wouldn't mind sharing the role with a badass young actress like Millie.

    "The character is bigger than the actor" would be an arguable statement if the last time we saw Leia was in 1983 in ROTJ, but we just saw her 2 years ago in TFA, so in my opinion that wouldn't work.

    I belive KK and LFL said that they will not use GCI Leia in Episode 9

    I don't think that will work. With TLJ out now, her character has more screen time than Episode 7, so they would either have to kill off her current character or have her act in two different roles. I don't see either happen.

    No-one. There will be a 4-10 years of time jump and Leia will die offscreen. Maybe Her funeral will be The 1st scene of Ep.IX..

    Recasting her would be a bad idea. The character will be killed off early in episode 9 and that will be that.
