SPECULATION Who's Who in The Force Awakens?

Post brief theories on each Character. For the new ones,tell what you expect them to be. For the OT cast, tell where you think their stories will go.

 

I would frankly be disappointed if they where to have a plot where Sidious is back in the shape of a clone or his ghost possesing someone.I would prefer a "new" baddie.Maybe Driver is a adopted Solo?...lol

 

Upfront, I'll state that the Big3 and their children are where my main interest lies with the ST.

With that said, I'm still theorizing that:

- Gleeson is Luke's boy. It's certainly what I've always, always longed to see.

- Ridley, I hope, is a Solo.

- Driver, I could go either way: A Solo, or just some unrelated aristocratic collector of all-things Sith.

- Isaac, apparently, is a Rebel pilot, but beyond that? I've always felt that Oscar has the look of a clone descendant to me. If there's any connection to Rebels to be had, maybe he is a Bridger?

People have claimed that Serkis has been confirmed as the voice from the teaser. So, I'm gonna guess that he is playing a mo-capped baddie (who I want to say is Plagueis).

The rest of the new characters? It gets even tougher to guess.

- I mean, Sydow, I had assumed was up for a baddie. An Imperial holdover from the reign of Palpatine? An ancient, yet freshly awakened, Sith? Plagueis, himself? But then rumors began to circulate that he was Montross (or, Montross-like). Who knows?

- Lupita could be an alien, or she could be Leia's political foil.

- Boyega, apparently, is some renegade Stormtrooper, unrelated to any of the legacy characters (and so, making him -- at least at the outset -- that much less intriguing to me).

The remaining actors? Clarke? Andersen? No clue.

 

So this isn't my theory, but I thought it was interesting anyway.

Here's my best guesses and wishes:

Boyega: hired mercenary charged with stealing a Sith artefact from the Imperials for 'The Collector'. He bundles his escape early in the film and ends up stranded on the desert world (Tatooine?) He has no idea what he has but knows he needs to deliver it in order to collect his bounty. Pursued by Imperial forces charged with getting the stolen artefact back, Boyega runs into....

Ridley: desert-world native, scavenger and black-market technology dealer. She is duped into helping Boyega after he convinces her he needs to reconnect with the Imperials and that she will be rewarded for helping him achieve this end. However, when Ridley's homestead is decimated by Imperial Storm Troopers Ridley realises Boyega is not the man he claims to be. Bereft of her desert homies, Ridley realises she is out of her depth and in the company of a wanted man and--under the subterfuge of taking Boyega to safety--she leads the deceitful Trooper to the one person she trusts and knows can help her: Han Solo....

Sydow: aging warlord. Somewhere between Boyega and Ridley's meeting and the rendezvous with Solo, Ridley introduces Boyega to Montross, a fellow scavenger and close friend. Montross is eccentric and aloof--until Boyega presents the one thing he has that could back-up his promise that he can pay for passage off-world: the Sith artefact. Montross recognises this and becomes more lucid. He discusses the 'old times' and the Jedi Order and serves the narrative purpose of filling in much of the exposition linking the ST to the OT, and even back into the PT. Montross is among the murdered when Storm Troopers attack the village looking for Boyega. Sydow plays a small, but significant role....

Driver: aristocratic collector of Force relics and Chosen One wannaba. Driver hired Boyega to steal the artefact for him. The artefact is one of the last pieces of a puzzle that will allow Driver to communicate with Plagueis, the Sith Lord whose essence (Force Ghost) is fabled to be in limbo. Driver secretly intends to resurrect Plagueis in order to finally kill him completely, to finish the job that Sideous started. Driver is insane and obsessed with the Prophecy of the Chosen One. He believes himself to be the one who will 'bring balance to the Force' but, via his meddling and experimentation, is actually the one who is throwing it out of whack. This doesn't come to light until later in the ST: until that point, Driver is presented as the villain. It is not until Driver is forced to reveal his true intentions to Luke Skywalker in order to secure his help putting right some of the mess he's made that we learn the truth. Driver is forced to reveal his hand when Imperials seize his treasures and take-over his plan to resurrect Plagueis in the hope of reinstating a Sith Lord as figurehead of the Empire.

It will all be wrong, but it's fun to speculate.

 

Boyega = Zare Leonis, from Rebels, son. Possibly a force user and perhaps we'll see his dad in the movie.

Daisy = Han and Leia daughter or Luke's daughter.

Domnhal Gleeson = Luke's son and a Jedi Master of the New Jedi Order.

Oscar= Rebel Commander and a Pilot but son of Ezra and Sabine?

Andy = Darth Plagueis.

Mark Hammil = Luke Skywalk.... oh wait, there's no need.

Sydow = An eremite and Daisy's friend or.... Sydow raised Daisy after Luke left her, believing was the better for her.

Miltos Yerelomeu = Ezra Bridger.

Lupita = Jar Jar's daugter....(I'm kidding). A burocratic, from the Empire.

The three actors that practice parkour I have no idea.

Ah, in my dream there was a scene of Imperial guys walking in the woods carrying some artifacts :v

 

I couldn't find visuals to support the resemblance. As a young lad, Ian still had a very distinct mouth... a perennial sour puss. Dominohall's mouth doesn't pass the test .

 

Actors don't need to look alike to be related in film. You just want the best actor for the role. That said, I don't think he'll be a solo. I think Daisy will be the only Solo offspring.

 

Driver may not be a Skywalker at all. I'm with you. Or if he is, he would have to be the offspring of Leia with a different man (it's rumored Han and Leia are estranged... 30 years is a long time... his father could be someone who's a bit quirkier looking to explain Driver).

Of course, that leaves the possibility of Kira/Driver being the sister of Oscar Isaac?

 

The Dooku descendant thingy has been in the mix for awhile. Driver could definitely pull that off.

Edit - hell he looks like a young Dooku.

Edit 2 - maybe they'll get around to explaining the f-ed up royalty stuff in these movies at some point!?!?

Aah. Makes sense... The Count bit making him royalty and already an influential, deep pocketed player with a very strange hobby.

 

Depending on how the royal families are set up/succession works - he could be a grand nephew of Dooku who becomes the new Count.

I don't think you're crazy. I agree 100% Driver doesn't have the looks, frankly, to portray a Solo or Skywalker. He has a bit of an odd look which suggests twisted bad guy to me. Also, I'm not of the opinion that Driver is "an incredible actor." I think he's effective but he doesn't strike me as anything special. He may change my mind though.

 

Here you go... New Count Dooku...obsessed with Dark Side and Sith Artifacts. Thought great uncle got screwed over.

 

I understand the concern, but he does, in certain photos, "work"- see GQ photos. It also depends on how he carries himself. If he can effectively ape Han's attributes/ demeanor then it would/could work. Especially with Carrie Fisher saying they are playing 'Legacy' characters recently, I fully expect brother vs sister (jacen and jaina derivation) as family conflict is much more in line with Star Wars. Gleeson is a much better fit as a kenobi/ Luke's son, but hell idk- who predicted Issac as an Xwing pilot? Nobody. I'm sure we are in for lots of unexpected surprises.

 

Agreed but that GQ shoot was specifically styled to mimic Han's classic look. You could put almost anyone in that getup and have them strike Han-like poses to achieve a slight resemblance.

Again, I think it comes down to how much time the movie wants to spend explaining things for the audience who won't have any clue what's happened in the EU since ROTJ.

Which works better: this character is the child of Han and Leia who we last saw falling in love in the last movie,

or

this is the child of Luke Skywalker who since we last saw him ascending to the rank of accomplished Jedi in the last movie has met someone you probably don't need to know much about, fell in love, had a child, did something that scared him, left his child with someone we'll introduce to you in a moment, lost his partner (on the evidence that there's no one in the announced cast that fits the bill of Luke's estranged lover), and has been missing for over 10 years.

It's the first one, isn't it? For that reason alone I completely rule out any expectation of Luke having children.

So if Driver is anyone's off-spring it's Han/Leia. But I also think descendent of Dooku is an intriguing possibility....
