tis disturbing... getting a little closer to an area that i don't really want star wars to venture into.

i'm very disturbed by these implications as well.
and what does that mean, then, for someone like Finn?
    it's all very unsettling.

I agree with the disturbing. I'm not sure I want to go there. But this is why Ben must be redeemed. Snoke cannot prevail over our OT heroes' child. He just can't! It's too awful to think about.

right or wrong, a few of us seem to view falling to the dark side of the force differently to those that don't want Ben to be redeemed.

Falling to the dark side doesn't mean that you can just start using dark sided powers to do the bad stuff you always wanted to do. It means you become someone else... something else.

Anakin was not capable of killing all those Jedi younglings in cold blood. When he took a knee in front of Palpatine.. he became someone else, someone that was capable of what his new master wanted him to do.

Ben was put on that path BEFORE he could make choices. Even if Ben does come back to the light, he will always be damaged.. he will have to somehow exist with what happened on that bridge forever in his memory.

I think we can now say with some certainty that Snoke didn't walk up to teenage Ben and say "hey kid, your parents are lame. come with me and you can stay up late every day, have your own space ship and use force lightning!".. he was in his head before he was even born.

killing LST, ordering the death of the villagers, Poe's interogation, Han Solo's murder etc... these things were committed by Kylo Ren, a dark sided monster created by Snoke.

The truly atrocious and frankly chilling part to this, is that a part of Ben is in there fighting against it.

we talk about hero's in films... Luke saved the day, Indy, John McClain, etc etc. If Ben Solo finds his way out he will be a hero beyond any of these.

all in my humble opinion of course :)

Well...I don't think Ben's agency was taken away. He still at some point chose to give in to what was going on in his head, or else he would have been Kylo Ren from the beginning. But yes, he was clearly influenced from before birth. And he still is in a light/dark conflict in a confused and unfocused way.

I do hope Ben ends up being a hero, but it's clear he's going to need help. Calling all Reys! Report to Luke Skywalker on Ach-to immediately! ;)

Maybe Kylo survives this trilogy, but I think we will see a villain journey with him. He will become more evil and twisted than we can ever imagine. Could it be that he will injure Rey in the same way as Anakin was injured on Mustafar and leaves her to need a Vader like suit? ;)

I can’t help but give you a pessimistic rating for your post. If this is not pessimistic then I don't know what is.

This has always been Star Wars and not Star Peace and there was always some extreme stuff. I don't understand why this is nothing which should happen from now on? It is the hero's journey to deal with it and to survive it. And I just expect Kylo to show us the traning from Snoke he got and which made him more brutal than ever. ;)

Rey is the hero. She will likely be tempted by the Dark Side and suffer a little for it. But the deformities and monstrous injuries are left for the villains.

but do we expect to get a complete rehash or something new? I mean it is maybe not Rey, but someone else from the heroes suffering such injuries and surviving + still doing good. ;)

No, I highly doubt it as horrendous injury in fantasy and Star Wars is a metaphor for the monster they have become underneath the skin. If you make a hero look like a monster it kind of ruins that metaphor.

Yes, his physical punishment is for his evil actions. But a scar to the face is hardly akin to Vader's loss of legs, arms, skin etc!
Kylo isn't full monster yet. He can still be a good guy...

sorry, but he crossed the bridge when he killed his father. This is definately unforgiveable. He is the villain and will never be accepted as a hero. Rey is the hero. ;)

    Vader KILLED children.
    Vader STRANGLED his wife.
    Vader BUTCHERED the Jedi.
    Vader TORTURED Leia.
    Vader MAIMED his Son.

    Go figure.

What has Stockholm Syndrome got to do with it? Does Rey have SS? No. She doesn't even like Kylo Ren at the moment nor does she believe in his ideals.
The point is Luke loved his father despite everything. No reason why Rey can't love Ben in some way after she learns the truth about him.

because these are male fantasies to dominate a woman, especially a strong woman. As I said in the other post, makes no sense to discuss anymore, since our points of view are billion lightyears away from each other.

The fact that it's your mind that is going to thoughts such as this is telling.
Where have I suggested that this has anything to do with dominating a woman?
If you actually read my posts without letting your mind fall into the gutter, you'll see that what I suggest about Rey is the opposite.
She overpowers Ren. She defeats Ren. She has the power/love to pull Ben back from the Dark Side.
