After seeing the movie, do you believe Snoke = Darth Plagueis

From a writer/filmmaker standpoint, I don't see how he couldn't be Plagueis once I played those 2 music tracks side by side. Adding the clone army and "wise" references, it seems to be pretty clearly foreshadowed.
Then again, I also thought they would resolve the Sifo Dyas mystery & the "A Jedi must have deleted those files" mysteries from Episode 2 by the end of that trilogy, so there is no accounting for lazy/bad writing.

 

Agreed.

All "Snoke" does is replace the name Hego Damask and open up possibilities for what species he is.

Yeah, I feel like if he's not Plagueis with what they've done so far, it would be bad writing.

 

i chose 'yes', but that was more a flip of the coin type decision really. there have been so many threads and heated conversations about this that i've forgotten what my own opinion was lol

i've been avoiding the forums for a while now, but didn't the tarkin book confirm Sidious's claim of murdering Plaguies? am i out of touch? lol

 

I want him to be Plagueis but I don't think he is Plagueis. Mainly because that would be a (huge) twist only for fans that are pretty hardcore.

 

They could just give him an, "It was I who allowed Palpatine to overthrow the Republic." speech like the Emperor's condescending "It was I who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator." speech and everyone would be up to speed on "This guy was the Emperor's master", in like two sentences.

I think he could be. The hologram is obviously oversized, he's not that big in person. The musical clue when he appeared is a big give away.

But he may not be showing his true face through the hologram.

wasnt it mentioned somewhere else that they techincally dont have to make Plaguis a munn if they dont want to? Not leaning either way but I can see them changing that if they dont want to make him munn. also im really curious to see other designs for snoke cuz it was mentioned that they didnt nail down that design untill super late in preduction.

Of course that is Plagueis. And also there is no canon saying he was a Muun(as far as I know).

As much as I would like Snoke to be Darth Plagueis, and as much as it fits, I just think that TPTB want to go in a different direction with Snoke.

 

I heard that Snoke has multiple apprentices so it's hard to think he's a sith.

 

Good thing they didn't write themselves into a corner by saying he was a Muun anywhere in canon.

I am not a Plagueisian, but I can still see it happening. It is a small chance, but could happen. I didn't catch the "wise" thing (what is the exact quote?) but that is very interesting. And they will likely have to explain his scarring and deformity somehow.

 

I love the Darth Plagueis the Wise tale. I read the novel and I actually thought it was subpar but its a Legends story now anyway. I also would like it if Snoke is Plagueis because I believe that story would tie up the saga nicely - especially if Snoke had a hand in creating Anakin. (It might also vindicate midichlorians.)

There is no evidence either way.

I do believe however that there are mounting similarities between Snoke and Plagueis. My attitude now is agnostic; how can I know if he's Plagueis? No one knows. But, with so many similarities and some interesting clues (leitmotif, ref to Snoke as "wise", etc) it would seem to be a missed opportunity not to make Snoke = Plagueis and sew this whole bag up.

We'll see.
