After seeing the movie, do you believe Snoke = Darth Plagueis

This argument is played way way way too much. Some common sense is needed.

If they ever bring Plgueis's appearance back into canon he WILL BE A MUUN!

Its possibly the weakest of weak arguments. To think Disney would essentially change Plagueis's appearance after a few years of having a novel AND action figure released. Knowing searching Plagueis on any for on the internet will bring up a damn Muun. Hell Snoke was going to be female at one point, were disney going the whole hog? Common sense, buisness sense.

and its fantastic because whilst everyone is speculating about a long dead character, its less work for them to suprise us with the "New Character"

 

My main issue with the whole Plagueis theory: if Sidious killed his master (Plagueis), Sidious would have to be powerful, yes? Powerful enough to sense whether or not Plagueis' had in fact ceased to exist? And for Plagueis to choose an unstable nut job like Kylo Ren as an apprentice? I think Kylo Ren makes a great villain, but he's obviously crazy. I'm not an expert on SW canon, but certain things just don't ring true of Plagueis if he is in fact Snoke.

 

I think it's probably about time to merge this with the Plagueis thread, since that's what people are discussing. But let's see if we can get back to the topic... nuanced as it is.

After seeing the movie, do you believe Snoke is Darth Plagueis? Did the movie reinforce your view one way or the other?

 

They called him Snoke, so no.

 

There is a kernel of truth in every Legend

Plagueis from the legends material no longer exists
But, his legend continues on in the form of snoke


That said,
I think snoke is based off of Plagueis and I think it is a good move that they avoid confirming it is him.
"Same eyes in different people" "Same evil, different name"
Because ultimately we have no way of knowing how DEAD plagueis was during the whole saga.
For all we know he was, and then the force brought him back and he was changed by the transformation.

Snoke could really be half plagueis, and half, reanimated outside of his power to control.
It might be that snoke is less than Plagueis was but retains many of the wisdoms and understandings he held.


What I'm saying is, I do not believe Plagueis is Plagueis anymore.
Plagueis is now Snoke, and Snoke is only HALF Plagueis.


The musical score is no mistake, anyone thinking it a coincidence is way off.
They are SAYING that he is this BEING that is being ominously referred to as an ancient sith of great power. They aren't saying "its plagueis" just that snoke has all those things being discussed. Snoke is a representation of temptation and knowledge and power, but they don't want to cloud the story or his role by putting past baggage onto his shoulders.

I think its best to look at him as plagueis-like, and then to just relax.

1. I think Snoke is as much Darth Plagueis as Kylo Ren is Jaicen Solo.

2. Darth Plagueis was killed by Palpatine, i'm pretty sure Palpatine can kill someone and knows if someone he wants dead remains dead.

3. Darth Plagueis is a character from that movies we cannot speak about, so he will not be in the new trilogy

4. Snoke was a figure in the New Republic, Leia and Han know him before Kylo change sides.

5. Every other characters in the movie call him Snoke, Supreme Leader Snoke.

Therefore: Snoke is not Darth Plagueis, Snoke is Snoke

Plagueis resurrected into Snoke and out of Sith into something Higher. Leia will save Luke and Rey from Kylo by turning him into a Plasma ball (melt) using hate, then Leia will die like her mom in heartbreak of losing Han and Ben.

 

I believe that Snoke is Kylo Ren from the future.

 

Snoke is either Plagueis or he has discovered the ancient secret to stop 'people from dying.' I fully expect Plagueis and/or the 'cheating death' thing to be part of the story going forward. I just hopes this does not involve time travel! No time travel shenanigans in SW please.

And I agree. Flashbacks are fine, time-travel in Star Wars is not...

 

Episode VII didn't confirmed Snoke.

However, definitely there happend not a one single thing that will deny Plagueis eather.

In fact it ended with a feel of teasing by the traits of Plagueis:

1-Zombie like decrepit very old humanoid

2-The scar on his head reaching to his brain I think. Has anyone asked the doctors is this compatibile with life ?

3-The" Plagueis" music

4-Kylo Ren calls him the Wise.

5-he is reluctant to pass all his knowledge to Kylo Ren, until Kylo kills his own father.Interesting, Darth Plagueis asked the same thing from his apprentice Palpatine, to kill his family.


To much teasing. It will be strange they teased and alerted people with so many Plagueis hints, and than at the and to show they just pirated Plagueis traits for the new pop-up Duty main villain.
