SPOILER Andy Serkis Character Revealed?

Is that confirmed or just rumor?

Others have also reported that Lupita is a small mo cap/puppet alien. MSW specifically reported that Rose knows the details regarding the saber also.

 

I have had a theory regarding Serkis/Uber character for awhile now, and while I dont really believe this will be the outcome, it is a valid enough idea to warrant real discussion..

Everyone right now believes Serkis/Uber is a new baddie character, be it Plageuis or someone else. All the assumptions are he fills the palapatine role of the "behind the scenes" ultimate baddie. This assumption fits into the star wars formula nicely...and will most likely come to be in some form. However......

What if Serkis/Uber is really just the Voice of Kylo Ren ala James Earl Jones in the OT. I do believe Serkis confirmed he is playing 2 diff parts, and perhaps he is the voiceover for Kylo while Kylo is in mask, and then he may have other mo-cap parts or cameo's. After all, voiceover and MO-Cap is Serkis' bread and butter.

We have had such good leaked info on most of the others characters, but this one has alluded all the spies thus far. Maybe there is something to this....

Again, I still believe Serkis will be playing a Palpatine'esque character, but i think we need to at least give this theory some legs....what do you guys think???

 

**** another small tidbit i forgot to throw in......the word UBER in German is most closely translated as "above" or "Over".....perhaps alluding to voice over???

 

It is an interesting thougth. If we assume Kylo will appear both masked and unmasked, (right?), then perhaps it will be possible to test your hypothesis by comparing Serksis Uber and supposed masked Kylo voice to Driver's supposed unmasked Kylo voice? If there's not similarity, then the hypothesis is pretty much debunked, but if there are similarities then perhaps the hypothesis holds enough water to formulate a theory

 

If this is true then I suspect we will not see Kylo Unmasked in this film. it would be strange to have two completely different voices for the same character and a bit on the confusing side. What happens if he puts the mask on Mid-scene?

I don't mind the idea of Serkis doing a VO for Kylo though its an interesting theory.

 

ok I know this has been talked about for a few days, but can we go over the origin of Uber and his connection to Serkis/kira?

 

Rose played by Luptia via mo-cap is mentioned by MSW but that is not official. Though there is a small alien.

 

I believe that Serkis has stated that he only plays one character in TFA.

 

Serkis has one role and its a mo-cap character.

 

a) he's an actual living person, alien, or entity (like Darth Sidious was in the previous trilogy)
b) he is an evil spirit
c) he is a hologram or transmission
d) he is a voice inside Kylo Ren's head telling him to do evil
e) he is like Six communicating with Gaius Baltar in Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica. Only Kylo Ren can see and hear him (as well as us the audience).
f) some combination of the above

I think the guy on the stage is Uber. But, is he mo cap or not? If he is then it's definitely Serkis, If not who is he because he's clearly important.

 

I've seen people speculating that he's played by Gleeson, whoever he is... but that seems like wild speculation and I'm not sure it's actually founded in anything.

 

I think that's Gleeson. Uber will be in the shadows.

 

Serkis stated he is a Mo Cap character that he physically plays and he is the voice in the 1st teaser. He also stated that is just him doing a voice and it isn't altered in anyway.

While once again I'm not convinced it's Plagueis or Maul, the voice does sound like Maul's in the PT but older. Doesn't prove much though.

It was an interview with Serkis from a few months ago. He said he was the voice from the frist teaser and he didn't know JJ was going to use it for the teaser and that he only plays one character that will be motion-captured. He claimed it's more of a "cameo."
