Yes, I think the source might of been discredited later in this forum. I am surprised more speculation has not come about referencing the "alien blaster" info from the toy/action figure 2015 line-up.

Are the rumors about Andy Serkis being a Sith master still going around?

Given the confirmation that it's him doing the voice over in the trailer I would say it's pretty clear hes a dark side force user of some type and likely a Sith Lord. Some hidden forgotten Lord.

He may be a Sith, but there's really no evidence for that yet. He could be the 'Vicar'....

It's not a stretch or hard to accept that Sirkris could be a "character" then in the climax or 3rd act reveal to be Darth Plaguis.
Plaguis could be secretly ALIVE all along. Dormanhall Gleason might be Sheev Palpatine in a flashback.
"Killing" Plaguis then duh duh dunnnn... Plaguis "faked" his death & lived for many, many years to plot his ultimate take over of the Galaxy.
Anakin COULD be sired by or the secret son of Plaguis(how he is on Mon Espa, Tatooine) and could "hook up" with Anakin Skywalkers mother Shira(I think her first name).
This can explain Annie's "off the charts" metachlorine count & why he's a slave on Tatooine. Also how/why he's a natural pilot & engineer too, ;) .

The only person who can be more intimidating than Palpatine is the master of Palpatine.

The minute I heard his voice in the trailer I assumed it was Darth Plagieus, sounds like the devil himself.

It is also not out of the question that he is a "character" and then in the third act revealed as a completely new character as well.

If they do bring Plagueis they can do it better then the idea he faked his death and has been alive for all these years. Too much to have to explain about where he has been or why he has waited so long to show himself again.

At this point in the saga, Anakin story has been told and he has been redeemed by Luke. There is no need to get muddled back in the story of how he was born in this movie.

Well, I agree and disagree. While we don’t really need the story of his birth, this whole saga is derived around Anakin Skywalker. Its his story from 1-6. I don’t think they can directly remove him from this one, but also, it seems to be that with Anakin bringing balance to the Force…the most powerful Sith known in canon coming back to life or not dead….destroy that whole idea. They just have to be really careful how they handle the Sith returning. I mean, it has to be powerful, meaningful, and can’t discredit the chosen one. Unless they plan to let an Anakin Force Ghost pull some vicious comeback move in Episode IX to finally bring real balance haha… but then again, if there are no evil force users making the dark side powerful and the force all out of whack then there really is no Star Wars haha…what a mess.

It shouldn't be plagueis and almost certainly won't be. This is the beginning of a new series for a new generation of Star Wars fans. Every indication Disney has given is that this that they're pushing the orginal trilogy and the OT characters because they will be focus. Nothing in the fiction they've pushed suggests plagueis is going to be the villain, and right now no one besides the fans even know who he is. If they're going to use a villain the fans don't know, why not just make a new villain instead of using a lot of nebulous canon? I know for a lot of the cantina seeing plagueis as the villain is simply wishful thinking, but I think we need to move away from this idea and accept that a lot of what we see shall be new.

I like how the Plagueis thread (2,100 replies and counting) just isn't big enough to contain this speculation and it's spilling over into other threads.
    (emperor)

But I get it. Given JJ's rumored distaste for the prequels, I could see the story of "Plageuis the Wise" being one of the more evocative prequel threads he would consider weaving back into the new sequel trilogy (via a resurrected or resuscitated Plagueis), as a way of drawing from and synthesizing both previous trilogies, but this is uninformed speculation and really just a hunch.

Regardless, I'm excited to see what Serkis brings to the table, he's a genuinely amazing performer. I doubt we'll see him in the trailer, and his character will likely remain an official mystery till Dec 18.

If JJ does have a strong distaste for the PT he may also just want as little to do with the fine details of it such as a little anecdote mentioned by Sheev Palpatine. I wouldn't say it's impossible for JJ to use Plagueis but he is after all, as far as we know... dead.

Also even after December 18th Serkis' character may be a mystery. It might take till May 26 2017 for us to really get a grip on who he is.

Pictures of Darth Plagueis and also one picture of Andy with Darth Plagueis!

    DarthPlagueis01.jpg

Andy playing Darth Plagueis? Perhaps, but then why would they cast him to play a tall alien? Thus just as why would they cast Lupita to play a puppet?
Other means that he is playing the head villain? Look at his MO-CAP in the two recent planet of the apes movies he was in. If he isn't Plagueis then what? What other villain could turn or even teach Kylo ren Solo? Ghost's of Darth Vader? If Not Plagueis could he Mo-Cap ghost of Darth Vader, I think no but its possible.
