He also said in some short interview that maybe someone else can also confirm...his character preferred saber over ray guns..

I still hold that Serkis is the voice of the lines "There's been an awakening. Have you felt it?" but that he is definitely not the voice of the line "The dark side, and the light." I pushed the lines right up next to each other to hear them right after each other and they differ audibly in multiple ways. The most obvious to me are a variance in the accents, and the strength of low-mids (somewhere around the 400 to 600hz range) in the voices. Plus a comparison of the second line to other Sydow dialog is compelling. The second voice sounds older to me, but that's really subjective. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

I know this is totally conspiracy theory logic, but he didn't say he was the *only* voice in the trailer. He just said yes to the question "is that your voice in the trailer?" and then laughed when they told him people thought it was Cumberbatch. So for now I'm going to choose to trust my ears, and then on December 18th I'll find out if I need to be getting myself a hearing aid.

I remember reading somewhere he was saying he wasn't sure what lines were going to be used or how they would cut things up.

Yes, from the quote I read a while back the lines are cut up from different points in the movie.

I always saw Darth Maul as brute muscle, or attack dog. Not really the type to be orchestrating a resurgence after death.
Zombie Darth Maul would be cool to see, but I don't know...

If they're not taken from a line where they sit next to each other in the film, they will sound different.

If you're comparing them direct, i'd look at around 1.5k or 34khz to define it. Also, take in to consideration power, look at Sidious after he turns anakin, the way he says darth vader for the first time is much croakier than the rest of his speech.

Was this a slip-up on Serkis' part?

No it's a part of JJ's mystery-box. He wants everyone to think Serkis yields a lightsaber and is Uber but the truth is that Serkis is playing an ewok.

I think the fact that Palpatine killed Plagueis "in his sleep" could be significant. Perhaps Plagueis's soul had already left his body, leaving a shell behind that looked asleep. Or perhaps Plagueis was meditating when Palpy killed him, and this act of meditation led him to going elsewhere in the Force...

The fact that Palpatine did not kill Plagueis when he was alert leaves some story openings, basically.

I really like the idea of Plagueis as it would provide a through line tying the three trilogies together.

It looks like most of the Darkside figures arent called 'Sith' YET, not yet actually, but they will at some point i think.
I still think he is Plagieus.

Assuming he isn't Plagueis, I wonder what his costume will be. I think it would be cool if he wears a gold or purple cloak like they considered having Sheev wear when developing the OT.
