SPOILER Andy Serkis Character Revealed?

I pray to God there is no truth in the rumours that his figure has the name Opuchi.Sounds like something from pokemon..

 

1- I agree with the theory Plagueis is the villain. But keep in mind the ST is not about the Skywalker lineage, It's all about the new generation of heroes. That was the deal between Disney, Bad Robot, and Lucas Film. Ridley is probably the daughter of Han and Leia; and Gleeson might be a Skywalker (not sold on the Gleeson theory yet). According to the latest rumors Driver is a force sensitive Imperial Aristocrat (which IMO is more believable) so unless the Solos switched sides I don't see Driver being a solo.

2- It has been stated before that the only parallel between Rebels and the TFA are the inquisitors. Not even Ezra (who is the same age as Luke) is in TFA. And if Maul makes an appearance once again I will be very disappointed with the creative teams at Disney, Bad Robot, and Lucas Film for not being able to come up with a new concept for a compelling villain. And if that is the case then they all deserve to be fired. At least Plagueis cheating death is an awesome way to bring everything full circle.

3- The only Nightsister left after the clone wars was Ventress and the last we saw of her she was a bounty hunter.

Sounds like a code name to me.

 

Except we've seen photos of Driver on Rebel Pilot Flight Suit talking to Han and they clearly know each other.

 

It's also possible that JJ saw the cameras and told Driver to put on a Rebel pilot costume and walk outside before they were removed from the set.

 

With strict security SOPs and requests for no-fly zones on UK locations I highly doubt either JJ or Disney would let any paps or media that close.

 

No we've seen a blurry picture of a guy who looks kind of like Driver in an orange flight suit and that's it. Every single rumor has had Driver as the villain including the teaser itself. I really think it's time to start asking why an Imperial (and the villain) might be wearing that instead of trying to shoehorn Driver as a Solo

 

He very well might not be a Solo. I have heard snotty aristocrat who collects artifacts but not necessarily imperial. I have also heard that he is the leader of an x-wing group Red Squadron. I like him as a child of Han and Leia (making him a Skywalker as much as a Solo) but that is my take. I would prefer Luke with no kids. Some one runs off in fear of his own power to live as a hermit and take on the role of wacky ole guy in the wild should not be hooking up with anyone.

 

I too think that an Awakening is happening in Boyega's character. I also don't think he's this Zare Leonis guy from Rebels, unless he was frozen in carbonite for 35 yrs and this is him thawing out in the sun on this desert planet, but maybe an offspring of his.

 

Wait. Imperial? What evidence for that? And we don't know for sure Driver is the Sith in the trailer.

Sure I don't think anything is known for sure. Most sources say that Driver is the new villain and even that he will be a sith or sith like character but I think very very little is known for certain. I say this more in the sense of healthy skepticism not as slight to those here who have said they have read scripts and such.

As for who Driver is recently it has been said he is an Aristocrat. It was said by I believe SpoilerMan (though its tough to keep it all straight) that he is the leader of a rebel Squadron and he will fall to the Dark Side but is currently aligned with the Rebels though he might have designs on treachery early on.

But please for your own sake take any and everything with a grain of salt.

 

We do know for sure, his name was listed as the cast in the trailer. This was a couple days back on the teaser thread

 

You said imperial. Still no evidence of that. Even if he's saber guy.

 

What role do you think Driver has?

 

Where do you see Han in those blurry pictures? I barely see Driver.

 

Considering that "saber guy" has been rumored to be in several scenes with imperials by reliable sources such as MSW (such as the torching the village scene) then it isn't that much of a logical jump to assume he is associated with Imperials.

awesome find! i guess that settles the whole Serkis playing multiple parts thing. also, it's interesting that his voice wasn't artificially changed at all. pretty neat!

12. I fricking love Serkis' voice in the trailer. It is the most eminently quotable words from a Star Wars production since Return of the Jedi. HAVE YOU FELT IT?
Also, I believe that this isn't one speech. Sounds to me like "There has been an awakening", "Have you felt it?", "The dark side and the light" sound like they could be from different scenes. Or maybe the first two belong together.
