SPOILER Concept Art Leak 01/16/2015

I wasn't implying he was Obi-Wan. I was commenting on how similar the images are.. and as soon as I saw it earlier today it reminded me of something. Even their hair is standing up in the same way.

I was commenting on how it evoked that well-known behind the scenes image from the first Star Wars.

 

Going on that concept art I would say that it seems safe to say that who/whatever Max von Sydow will be playing, it will be an character who will be of the same type of prescense/dynamic/nature that Obi was to the OT.

Hopefully with some brilliantly added layer.

A lot of the rumours have moved away from MVS playing the cyborg but as @Viral Hide has said, these concepts might not be indicative of the final characters and or ship designs.

By the looks of it MVS MIGHT be playing a character that is more "story-teller" centric, like obi-wan was for luke (at least that is the idea i took from the art) BUT we don't have much info for him at all and this art could be completely wrong.

What i'm starting to think about is if the next trailer is original 3 centric as latino-review is claiming, could we see MVS is somehow tied to the original 3.

 

I'm so happy MVS will be in this film, two of my biggest hopes were that he and JJ would be involved. I have high hopes. MVS has the potential to be mindblowing when he's used right.

 

He kind of has an Obiwan feel too him. And supposedly Luke is to have a role reminiscent of Obiwan.
Maybe MVS's likeness is used in Luke's place, the same way vader was used in the village burning art, as a stand in for character reference.

I doubt it, solely on the reason that we heard that vader was used in concept art because the "villain" was not fleshed out fully when that art was created, so he was a placeholder, with MVS you get a front shot of his face meaning that it was a "concept" for his character and luke is already a fleshed out character. If the rumours are moving away from MVS as a cyborg maybe he is the "story-teller" for rey when things kick off?

 

If these are early pieces, as has been mooted, then MvS's involvement must have been decided early on, too. Whoever he's playing, he was considered right for the part from the off!....

So maybe the cyborg rumours were just way off base and this is more indicative of his character?

 

So who is he? Kanan? Ezra? An ex imperial guard? An aged clone, a cone of Anakin? Or someone entirely new? Is he a force user, or just a wise old man?

 

Dunno....

 

No idea, i doubt Kanan or Ezra because Rebels is running for approx. 4 season, so that would have quite an impact on the conclusion for Rebels. Plus Epi. VII is targeted towards the hardcore fans and general audience, which means there would have to be a forced back story to explain to non-rebels fans who the hell they are.

Until more story leaks, MVS character still seems to be quite mysterious.

 

Obi Wan. We never saw Mace Windu's body. We never saw Obi Wan's.

It awesome that Kenobi can be back easily. We never saw him die. The ghost blast was a gut up. Here he is. Chillin. Speakin truth to new Big 3's.

Intresting concept art, specially the one who has (looks like) Vader on it. It could be a flashback scene from one the characters who tells a story about Vader burning a little town down to the ground. I really dont think Vader will come back one way or a other, but it would be a intresting development.

 

Vader was a place holder for the "villain" these are really early concepts where the "villain" was not fully fledged out yet . So Vader is a place holder for Kylo/Serkis' character/Captain phasma etc etc.

 

Yeah true, but there's also concept art with Kylo holding Vaders broken helmet, where did he get that from?

I like the one where they are burning something down. Does anyone else remember a leaked set image where there was what looked like a fire storm trooper scaling a rock wall? Can we piece together anything from that?
