Fett died, and I am kinda ticked at Lucas reordering history again to make it canon that he lived... and Maul died, and gets to live... Palpatine is dead, and the only reason I think he might ever come back (please don't let it be so) is that Lucas has a habit of bringing dead bad guys back (not in the movies so far, thankfully)

How interesting... this is one I would love to see persist... which probably means she wont

Most of the ROTS characters were likely not in Lucas's head yet in 1980. If we're going on what Lucas envisioned in 1980 then the choice is obvious.

Episode 7 is about the adventures of Luke Skywalker who survives Episode 3 whether it's ROTS or ROTJ!

The ancient fear refers to a weapon. The Sith Lord villain is going to be Sidious...but as a force ghost manipulating the next generation of Sith. Book it, you read it here first.

I'll go with Skywalker... makes sense...

I think the "Ancient Fear" is the Sith themselves, however (if that is even the title... ) and I hope it isn't Sidious... but... I can't argue with your logic, or the fact that you go on record for your theory

I Think we will see A dark side cult I grew up with the star wars vhs's with the Leonard Maltin George Lucas interviews where they make references to A sequel trilogy.I rember watching jedi as a kid i was always intrigued by the pasty guys who hanged out around the emperor

for being on screen for such a short period of time on screen these guys realy got over with me as very evil guys I Always thought as A kid these guys would pick up where they emperor left off.maybe Lucas wanted to expand on A dark side cult but due to burn out just didn't expand on these guys

Great point. Those sith pals of the emperors had to be there for some reason. They look as sapped of life due to dark side energy as Palps himself. So they're either force adepts studying the dark side, or random lackeys of a humanoid race who happen to look pale?

I read about their legends cannon last night when i googled " pale people with emperor return of the jedi"

    i read this tidbit

"On Jedi, one of the most exciting things from a design point of view was the advisers who surround the Emperor. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what they might look like because I thought it was important that through them you might understand what the Emperor's world is like. Coming from a Catholic background, I sort of made a joke, and that's why they look like bishops. So they wear red, and they have elaborate headgear. This was a challenge because it wasn't in the script, and you see them only briefly in the movie."
―Nilo Rodis-Jamero, on the designs of Aloo and the other advisors in Return of the Jedi[src]

I remeber picking up on this aswell that they looked liked bishops now when i watched the Original Trilogy there were no "sith" I just thought the Emperor was some sort of An Evil Oculist.

I dont think we will see plagius as the bad guy of the movie,if there is one thing that is established in the clone wars /rebels cannon is that there were more than just 2 Dark Side Users in the Galaxy

While I like this explanation and would endorse it I doubt we'll ever learn anything more about these dudes or see them or their kind again. And NOT that this is official info or anything but the old Kenner figures simply listed them as "Imperial Dignitaries" so i don't think there was any intention for them to be Dark Side adepts.

Wookieepedia may just know something. In terms of whether the novel is still canon, among other things.

It is a fan-built version of the Hologram, a database maintained by Lucasfilm to track everything in the Star Wars universe and ensure continuity within it.

So this gives the chance that Lucasfilm hasn't updated things on the book yet in certain areas and it may not be a coincidence that it is listed as canon in certain spots .... Still may not mean anything but, worth pointing out that Lucasfilm has a big input on Wookieepedia.

Interesting on the "Canon" side of things it says ...

Later, upon revealing himself to Skywalker as the Sith Lord, Palpatine told him that they could work together to learn Plagueis' power. Skywalker agreed and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

There's only one power that Palpatine refers to and that is .. the power to cheat death.

I ALWAYS thought that the reason Lucas really put Plagueis into Ep. 3 was to set him up as the true mastermind of the Sith movement in 7, 8, 9.

Of course everyone will say it was to give an added reason to lure Anakin to the Dark Side, but I always felt like Sidious was giving Anakin the story of his own conception without delving into the true nature of his story.

When the sale to Disney and the sequel trilogy was announced, Darth Plagueis was the first potential villain that crossed my mind, and he hasn't left it ever since. If Darth Bane ends up as the "Ancient Sith", I will accept that, as well. But deep down, I am hoping for Plagueis to make it into Ep. 7.

According to Sidious, who is known to lie quite a bit. And according to the Plagueis novel as well, but it's left as an event that takes place cast with seeds of doubt. So because they plant those seeds of uncertainty, I feel like Plagueis will return in the sequels as the "baddest of em all"

But isn't the power to cheat death just to save others from dying and not yourself?

That was lies that Palpatine fed to Anakin because, he knew if he said saves others Anakin would immediately think of his other .. Padme who was supposedly to die in child birth.

The Ancient Fear the more I think about it doesn't deal with a person to speak but, one who can manipulate the force to cheat death and life. That would be fearful because, it leads to fear the Sith (from Jedi prospective) may never die and they can continue to wreck havoc for years and years to come.

I also was watching my Star Wars documentaries last night and it was mentioned the saga is meant to be the story of the Skywalker family. That leads me to thinking that the villain has to be someone that bridges things together.

Interesting you bring up the conception. That's exactly how Rick McCallum and George describe the scene in the ROTS commentary.

i'm struggling to find it - but someone did a video explaining which bits of the PT he would have changed to make it better (yeah.. just bits lol), and one of them was to have padme's death during childbirth caused by Sideous in some way (and not have the doctor saying the crap about Wil to live). I agreed with that when i saw it.. but that would have meant that everything Sideous said to Anakin was complete fabrication... in fact more than that.. that the whole thing was orchestrated by him to turn Anakin to the darkside.

i over think stuff.. hey that's why we're all here right? lol, but after going around and around with the Opera Scene i've come to the distinct conclusion that there is only one fact - Sideous mentions someone called Plagueis. that's it.. it's left completely open to be a wild lie, a partial lie or the complete truth.

It could be Plagueis though. he could even have been Sideous's master the whole time.. which might technically be easier to write in than a lot of other ancient Sith lords that have been brought up on this site recently.

I just hope that the cyborg villain stuff is a load of tosh.. i watched the Ultron trailor earlier and that's gonna be tough to top lol

    That is what was said...

(the first part of this is not directed specifically at Joe12Hawk, but from my thoughts while reading his comments)

Ok, not to be contentious, but we seem to be getting into a rut here... we (as a thread) are starting to look at the legends on Plagueis in terms of what Palpatine said, and we are analysing it for what might be lies and what is the truth... this, as far as it goes, makes sense, and we would be wise to not take anything that was said at face value.

The only thing we can go on to really back this up is the Plagueis novel, which I can't remember at this point is considered canon or not. Even if it isn't, it doesn't mean that it won't be canon, it just means JJ isn't locked in to using it. He could... which muddies the waters a bit...

If we leave that out, and just go on the speeches that Palpatine made to Anakin, we have to accept that Palpatine was lying about at least some of it, as he contradicts himself at one point saying he knows the secret, and in another telling Anakin that together they could discover this ability... and we know that Sith in general lie.

The danger that I see is that (and here is where we tie in to the post I am replying to) we seem to be accepting that Palpatine was, at least in part, lying, but we are picking and choosing which parts of the speech we consider to be lies, and which we consider to be truthful, with nothing more than the theories we want them to fit into as a guide to judging the validity of the statements... and that is a very dangerous path to tread on in speculation...

THe safest path, then, would be to consider it all to be lies... or more specifically, all of it is truth, from a certain point of view... by that I mean even the parts that are true will be embellished somewhat, and the lies will have just enough of a kernel of truth to be believable...

Again, this isn't specifically addressing the merits of Joe12Hawk's post, more to my thoughts while reading them, and a general word of caution on the whole subject...

Now... as to what Joe12Hawk actually said... I do agree that if we are talking about an "Ancient Fear" (which again, I caution, has not been confirmed as the title or plotline) then I don't think it would be referring to any one particular person. I don't think it could refer to Plagueis, as while Plagueis (as a Sith) was probably worthy of fear, he isn't exactly ancient...

Even if we consider someone like Bane, I don't think it would refer to him. The fear wouldn't be the return of Bane as a person, it would be that if Bane returned, it would herald the return of the Sith as an active force in the galaxy... it wouldn't be the person themselves, it would be what that person represented, if you take my meaning...

I do agree that the saga is supposed to be the story of the Skywalker family, and so far the first 6 films have focused on their impact, along with those closely around them. While certainly other events can transpire in the galaxy, this story is theirs, and the focus is on them because their impact certainly is extraordinary.

@Maximus You make some interesting points, I should say I have been avoiding almost all spoilers. So I haven't seen the leaked images that have been mentioned. You mentioned a cyborg. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/gamin...review/star-wars-the-old-republic_screen7.jpg .. Here's a picture of a cyborg so to speak from The Old Republic. I think there's a chance that a Sith army could have these to go along with the regular Sith users.

    @TIDMADT ..

You make great points. Reading the canon side of things gave me clear picture of which part Palpatine was lying and which part he was being truthful. The lies were the "Sith Legend of Darth Plagueis the Wise" and the truth was him cheating death. So maybe it is sort of picking and choosing. Matching up with the novel with the powers that Palpatine mentions that Plagueis has are true. Palpatine when talking to Anakin used them in a benefit to convert him. Pretty confusing because, you're right .. we don't definitively know which parts are true and what is not. This is at least my idea of it.

As far as whether Plagueis is "Ancient" or not. I don't think it really refers to Plagueis. It speaks in general terms of that there is a fear that one will find a way to manipulate the force to create life and cheat death. Maybe it's part of the prophecy and is long feared that someone will find a way to do these things .. and someone does.

I can see Bane and others influencing Plagueis or whomever. Similar to how Bane appeared to Yoda on Moraban. The dark side has a way. I'm not sure how but, something along those lines.

I will share it now because, it fits this discussion. I've been watching the last season of The Clone Wars. I feel there are a lot of elements from the last season that may get expanded on in the Sequels.

    1. Qui-Gon comes to Yoda. He burns out candles using the force when Yoda is mediating. I think that shows Qui-Gon could see things normal force user could not.
    2. Order 66. Sifo-Dyas and his ordering of the Clones. From watching it appeared that even Palpatine didn't know of the ordering of the Clone army. (Not sure how to explain this one but, will better when I read up on it again)
    3. Muunilinst has lush forest and snow. Two things that have been seen in pictures and mentioned in Episode VII stories.
    4. Moraban. For no reason then it is the ancient homeworld of the Sith.
    5. It appears the Muuns played both sides. With funding both the Republic and Separatist.

I'll share more things when I can better explain number two.
