    Thank You.

I for one am like 100% convinced she is Luke's Daughter and until the movies say otherwise I am in that camp. As far as my Han point is concerned, what I was thinking was that she just seemed familiar to him. Even if it was just that she reminded him of someone else. A Niece or Daughter he "Used to" have or His brother in Law. I think until we get more info on what Luke was up to between VI and VII we won't know. And I think there is a reason why they haven't divulged any info to us yet.

This what we know thus far
1 - Luke was Training Jedi
2 - Luke Was Training Ben Solo
3 - Luke Went looking for the first Jedi Temple

I mean in thirties so much can happen and we just don't know what did happen. We are thrust into a point in time where the galaxy is in a completely different state from where we left it in Return of the Jedi. And we have no idea how it got there. Except for some political detail given in the Bloodline Novel. I for one just want the story to make sense and be good. Even if that means we have Hayden Christiansen come back and play a force ghost Anakin for a scene or 2. If its good for the story I say ye.

Hi everyone. No I don't think she is Luke's daughter

If I was to choose anyone it would be Rey Kenobi, obi wan granddaughter

Imma just ask you to look at the trailer footage of kylo ren holding a saber and then link that up to what you see happen in TFA. He appears to get a vision of none other than Rey. The saber is not in frame in TFA it's been removed (suspiciously enough) because it would be far too obvious who she is. If Rey gets called to anakins saber, hears obi wan talking to her, gets shown who is connected by blood to that saber. Kylo ren picks up a saber which looks suspiciously like obi wans...gets s vision of....

Im confused as to what you are trying to point out here. The only lightsaber I see in either of those clips is Kylo Rens and the only two lightsabers in TFA at all are Kylos and Anakins old one. I have no idea where you are getting anything about Obi-wans.

No need to be confused Pablo has pretty much confirmed that kylo ren is holding another saber in the trailer footage

It does not look like anakins saber

He murders a clans man for that saber he's holding, can't be Luke's. Because Luke has his. Who else's?

I have no idea whose lightsaber he may be holding in his left hand. It does resemble Obi-Wan's and Luke's green lightsaber. I would say that because this image wasn't in the movie it doesn't have to be part of the story as we know it and therefore it could be Luke's.

What I'm more intrigued about is your idea that what we are seeing a Kylo Ren vision of Rey, or some such? Whether we are seeing that are not here, I'm not even sure if that's what you are saying, but what's more interesting is the possibility that he at one point had a vision of Rey. If he's been seeing a vision of some "girl" (as he would say) that he doesn't know, that pretty much explains his interest in Rey that seems to start early on with the line:

    "What girl?"

It's not that it's not there in TFA it's just conveniently cut out of frame

    And yes, precisely .

    What girl

He saw what she saw, young Rey abandoned on Jakku. And I'm sure he saw masked Rey

This was the bit I was talking about from the newest issue of Star Wars Insider:

    • Clues are hidden in plain sight
    • She is not as forthcoming as she might be (could be)...she knows more about herself than she's letting on?
    • Comparisons are made to Padme being a handmaden, Luke being Vader's son, Leia being Luke's sister

Again, take from it what you will, but they are obviously planning some sort of reveal, and she's not going to be just a scavenger/"Rey Random".

She will be revealed as connected to somebody who we know.

(my money is still on Luke)

Tricia (fangirlcantina) wrote that article. She's just a fan.

But it's nice that she's on the same track many of us are on.

so they don't get any direction from LFL in terms of what they print?

Or what they can or cannot say?

(genuinely curious, I hadn't seen much of the magazine before...is it just fan-based stuff or is it official?)

I don't see this at all. Is it mentioned in the script or novel? I doubt it is b/c I'm not sure her entire backstory was known to all the actors during filming.

Originally Luke's lightsaber was on Jakku. It's possible that Kylo held that lightsaber in the trailer because he held it in a different version of the script. We don't know enough yet about how far they went with that idea before it was abandoned altogether.

Good points again. I see where you're coming from. Would also like Rey to be Skywalker, but again, a good story is most important regardless of who she is. Agreed, there is so much info. we don't have that Bloodline didn't divulge on purpose. The twist, I think, will come in when we learn about what happened during the destruction of the temple , when did and why Ben turned , what role did Luke play in that/ Was he present or not?. Based on what we 'know' of Luke, If Ben turned, I believe he would have gone after him. Something terrible happened that we don't know about that led to Luke
"walk(ing) away everything" and question Himself and Force teachings.

I never felt she was Lukes daughter,

The ending suggests pretty heavily who she is I think and the second I saw that I thought to myself..why oh why is JJ Abrams putting so much of an emphasis on this one gesture? Why is this one gesture so epic? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, first time I watched it, as I was leaving the cinema I said "she's a Kenobi"

People always concentrate too much on the saber "calling to her" that they dont see why it did, they focus on the calling but not on the WHY.

The ending clears up all confusion. It calls to her because she has to give it to Luke to get him back to the quest. This is all Kenobi. Maz clarifies the vision for the audience. She tells Rey whos it is then tells her what her quest is, (to bring Luke back) and she tells her to take the saber to do this..Its Kenobi, thats what Obi wan did for Luke all those years ago when he was Reys age..Its a reversal of the roles. Luke is dressed just like Obi wan..this time A kenobi will be mentored by a Skywalker...thats just what I think anyways.
    --- Double Post Merged, Aug 5, 2016, Original Post Date: Aug 5, 2016 ---
You have to think of it like this. When Rey meets the Trio, what does she represent?

1 Han Solo, when obi wan first met Han Solo he wants to hire Han,this time it's reversed. Obi Wan tells luke that he thinks an ancient weapon is not as good as a blaster. Han Solo gives rey a blaster for a weapon, then moments later Obi Wan calls to Rey through an ancient weapon and draws her to it.

When she meets the Skywalker twins for the first time? There are absolutely no words uttered what so ever, and the focus is on actions and gestures.

2 Leia: Obi Wan first represented hope to leia in ANH, in TFA its the last hope to save her son and to bring Luke home.

    3. Luke: When obi wan first met luke he prompted him into the fight with his fathers lightsaber. The shooting script describes this moment as her using the lightsaber as a plea to get him back onto the quest to save the galaxy...JJ never intended for anyone to see that but it leaked..

To me that one screen direction he wrote there is all suggesting Kenobi, promting Luke onto the quest with his fathers lightsaber...I mean she even gets it from a big chest..

LOL and dont even get me started on this weird ass connection with Kylo Ren...thats all Obi wan and Anakin/ Obi wan and Vader.
    --- Double Post Merged, Aug 5, 2016 ---
Not important in the context of TFA..but instead of re-shooting it to have it not in his hand..they jjst decide to use an establishing shot where you wouldnt be able to see it, and also a mid close up where they cut his hands out of the shot. They have other shots they decided to not use...yet.

Exactly... there certain things we can say, most likely didn't happen. But at the same time can't rule it out. For example. we can say that Luke most likely wouldn't leave his daughter on a desert planet alone for 14 years unless their was a really good reason. but that also doesn't mean that she couldn't be his daughter. a prime example Luke being left with Owen and Beru for 19 years and Vader knowing nothing about him.
    --- Double Post Merged, Aug 5, 2016, Original Post Date: Aug 5, 2016 ---
Wow really good points. I personally see really good connections both ways. as Skywalker or Kenobi. I think for me the thing that I keep hearing in my head is Collin Trevorrow's words.

“I’ve seen all of the theories… What I do know is that we’re going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying, because Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens but in the entire galaxy, and she deserves it. So we’ll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was—it’s something that happened a long time ago [in a galaxy] far, far away, we’re just telling you what happened.”

To me what would the most profound Rey Skywalker-Kenobi. There is surely enough evidence to support either theory as truth. Why not both. As I see it the biggest thing preventing her from being a Kenobi is the fact the we don't know if Kenobi ever had a daughter (or a son). We know that Ob-Wan wouln't be able to be Rey's father as he daied a good 15 years before she was born. It's easier to make her Luke's Daughter. There is less back story that you'll have to explain to make her a Skywalker than there is to make her a Kenobi. I'm not saying easier is better though. Because what I am About to suggest isn't easy at all. I think its possible that she is both.

You can read my theory in the link below. Just know this was made before Bloodline so some of the later stuff couldn't work exactly like that but maybe something similar.

You have raised some interesting points, but I don't think the arguments for Rey being a Kenobi work completely. In ANH, the teacher (Obi-Wan) gave the light saber to the student (Luke), while in TFA, the student (Rey) gave the light saber to the teacher (Luke). So this worked in a reverse-mirror kind of way. However, both of Obi-Wan's students (Anakin and Luke) were Skywalkers. So for the reverse-mirror pattern to hold and for Rey to be a Kenobi, Kylo Ren must also be a Kenobi. but we know that's not the case.

Similarly, in ANH Leia searched for Obi-Wan to get his help to destroy the Death Star, while in TFA the Resistance had to destroy the Starkiller in order to survive and then to find Luke. Again, a reverse-mirror pattern. Since a Skywalker (Leia) initiated the process in ANH, one expects a Kenobi to initiate the process in TFA. Except Leia was the one who played that role in TFA. So again having a Kenobi in TFA doesn't quite fit the pattern.

BTW, it just occurred to me that since the main villain and the main hero in the OT were father and son, the main villain and Leia were father and daughter, and the main hero and Leia were siblings, then from a reverse-mirror standpoint it makes sense for the main villain and the main hero to be siblings in the ST, for Leia and the main villain to be mother and son, and for Leia and the main hero to be mother and daughter.

Just want to thank you guys for being open to different opinions

You go to the most popular Star Wars board and they collectively stamp on you and push you away if you mention random and especislly Kenobi

    This is a good place

One day I'll write a whole list of stuff

Another interesting thing is Daisys comments about how she starts out being solitary is a huge clue as to who she is. Luke did not start solitary, neither did anakin. Obi wan was introduced this way on a sand planet, loyally waiting around for Luke, Rey loyally waits counting down the days then she rescued a droid in trouble which leads Her straight to Luke Skywalker and leads the last skywalker directly to her.

The hero starts this journey in a place where a Kenobi would naturally make their entrance into the saga: leia needs help, Skywaljer twins are scattered, and one of the skywalkers is seduced by the dark side.

Kenobi is always entwined with the skywalkers in the main trilogies. I feel Rey is the new Kenobi for this trilogy.

Another great theory! Geez, I'm confused! LOL But that's, in a way, the genius behind TFA because it leaves a lot of doors open.

I know a lot of people here have mentioned how we simply want a good story. Absolutely. But, in reality, Dis/LF wants to cash in. Remember, they're also working on the anthology films including the Han Solo movie and there's a lot of talk of a Kenobi spin off which would be a nice segway from the Sequel trilogy that would explain part of Rey's backstory (if she were to be Kenobi). Just hope they don't sacrifice a good story for this, but then again, we know how the real world works! Big money making, merchandising opportunity.

Please note, I"m not downplaying any Rey Skywalker theories because there are also so many options there as well whether it may be too obvious. Depends on the delivery of it.
