SPECULATION Is Luke Rey's Father? - The Evidence For and Against

In the novelization is it clear that Luke knows specifically who she is? The script isn't clear on that point even though people have cited that as a source.

 

Whatever, directors said that the movies are more canon than books. If they chosed for ep VIII to decide that Luke has no clue who Rey is then the novelization will be erased.

 

If Luke is still all-powerful, he should've also felt 'an awakening', like Snoke did. Be that Rey or something else, he no doubt knows that it relates to why she has come to him.

 

I suspect if Rey is a vergence in the Force then Luke is going to recognize that when he meets her for the first time.

 

Man, people find any one shred of evidence that supports their preferred theory and they take it as absolute confirmation of the same, even though there is literally controverting evidence on the same exact point. I understand that trying to figure this stuff out is fun, but this is really an exercise in futility. Nothing is "all but confirmed."

We are purposely being fed contradictory evidence to what we thought was true at every turn! It is the whole reason why a "story group" even exists. The main purpose for these people is to ensure continuity while at the same time protecting the integrity of story secrets. You really think any actor or actress is inadvertently going to drop a clue that gives it all away?!? If anything, it is exactly the opposite! (Especially after MSW spoiled the plot of TFA last time...)

I am not saying anyone is a liar, per se, but everyone associated with Star Wars is being groomed, trained, and focused on providing little tastes of many different possibilities so as to keep each and every possibility open...

The Star Wars masses are being played expertly...

If I actually could find a shot of Ben Solo on a carroussel that would be an awesome asset to my theory.

 

It isn't the reveal I would like but my prediction is that Rey is a Skywalker but not by birth. I've seen the theories that Rey was produced artificially from Luke's severed hand and that seems like the most logical explanation for her origin given what we know.

It's my favorite theory & it rhymes with Anakin. Anakin not having a biological father, Rey "Hand" not having a mother. With Rey thinking the scientists who created her as "family".

But i doubt the mouse will take a risk that big. She's gonna be Luke's long lost daughter or Han & Leia's "secret" daughter.

Because Disney may think it will remind fans alot of that "terrible" TPM film.

 

I like the theory that Rey's parents were training with Luke and were killed by Kylo and the knights and Luke saved her and took her to Jakku.

Among the many possibilities, that's my first choice.

 

Anakin's birth wasn't the problem with TPM. Also, TPM is a Star Wars film there are plenty of elements of Star Wars in that film that could remind people of it. As long as Rian Johnson avoids Jar Jar, stiff acting, and a poor child actor he should be fine.

 

The problem with the Rey's parent's training under Luke and killed by Kylo when he destroys the temple is the timeline. It appears from the novel Bloodline that Kylo doesn't destroy the temple until at most 6 years before the events of TFA. Rey would be 13 at that time and we know she was a lot younger than that when she was abandoned there

 

If Rey herself has started to believe that Luke could be her biological father the disappointment would be part of the story. That might help justify building up the possibility only to frustrate the expectation.
