    I thought Jakku was a post-apocalyptic Endor?! Have we discarded that theory??

    I think you pretty much nailed it here buddy!

    From what we know of the plot they're basically remaking A New Hope (young person from desert planet on a quest of personal discovery yah de yah, with a big battle to destroy a super weapon at the end) but trying to give it a fresh twist so:

    Luke = Rey
    R2 = BB8
    Vader = Kylo Ren
    Empire = First Order
    Rebellion = Resistance
    Tatooine = Jakku
    etc. etc. etc.

    Nothing to see here, move along now.....

    Isn't that just part of the general Battlefront marketing campaign - that they are using actual props from the saga to create the digital models? It shows them doing this on the vieo. One of the other Battlefront: Jakku ads shows an OT stormie costume where the sabers are.
    Vader is a playable character in the game, it just seems like a generic ad highlighting this aspect to me.

    Well actually there are a few mountains back there...

    The funny thing to me in being able to look at these two pics top-bottom is that SD is in same place, X-Wing is in same place, And the highest part of background mountains/dunes is in the same place. COME ON!

    Has anyone explicitly stated that the planet is called Jakku, or have they simply stated that there is a place called Jakku where there was a battle--in which case why can't that place be a region of Tatooine like the Dune Seas or Anchorhead?....

    That doesn't say that the planet showed in the Battlefront trailer is Jakku.

    The planet in the movie Trailer was confirmed as Jakku by JJ and Daisy. The planet in the battlefront trailer was confirmed as tatooine by the developer. Doesn't mean they are all telling the complete truth and not withholding anything, but that is the official word thus far.
