Okay, so I saw Justice League and well....I will keep it in spoiler tags

This movie is bad. There are so many unearned nods to thing that happen in the comics so it feels hollow and cheap to me. The reshoots are painfully obvious and I am pretty sure that's why there are so many awkward close up reaction shots that feel out of place. I don't need to see a close up of Ezra Miller mugging it up for his "confused" face" for no reason. The CGI is bad and distracting. The movie should have been pushed to January. Give TLJ time to run and then release. Steppenwolf was just awful throughout and a full waste of Ciaran Hinds by not even using performance capture. The story itself is weak and patchwork.

The characters are fine. They finally got Superman right. He's Superman. Not Snyderman. But it's so late in the movie, it's almost like they wasted the most important moment you could use for Superman in a bad movie and no one cared. Batfleck is still good. Gadot is an exposition machine for some reason. She's not good at it. So much better when she just gets to be Wonder Woman. Ezra Miller can be a great Flash in the right hands. Mamoa is....Mamoa. Meh. Couldn't give a hoot about Aquaman before and still don't give one now after.

Using Steppenwolf was just a bad decision. Firstly, he's so obscure to the general fan and then you hide the talent behind him so you give no one a reason to care about him. He's just an evil force for the sake of being an evil force.

Mother Boxes - Yes I know the deep history of them in the comics. But to hear the phrase repeated on screen and Steppenwolf talking about "mother" and such...it was off putting and sounded weird. Call them something else. They also need so much exposition because they aren't an easy maguffin, that the movie stops so Wonder Woman can explain it.

Just so many odd story choices.
There's some serviceable action and when they just let the heroes be themselves, it works best. If it came out in 2005 we'd call it a top 10 CBM. But the bar is raised. The standard is different for the genre now. It's frustrating. These are some of my favorite characters and it feels like a chore to watch them. WB messed up when they let Snyder do BVS and they REALLY messed up when they let him start Justice League. Snyder is a niche filmmaker. I do not care for his stuff. He's never made a massively critical and commercial hit. I just don't get that decision. It's like having Arnofsky do Star Wars. The broad appeal is so low for most of their work. It's just odd to pin a franchise on them.

This is Thor The Dark World bad in terms of narrative/villain, it's X-Men Last Stand bad in terms of just giving people things they want on top of action in-lieu of a good story with well developed characters and earned moments. As I said, there's moments to find joy. But they are almost immediately doused by other nonsense.

Oh and JUST GIVE SUPERMAN A DAMN BEARD. I'D RATHER HAVE A BEARDED SUPERMAN THAN THAT MESS.

Kingsman 2 Golden Circle - Meh. Bright moments drowned out by nonsense. Tries too hard to just one up the original. Somethings were nice. Too many things way over played. Didn't care for certain portrayals or characterizations. Mindless action flick though. Rental type movie. Shame. Series had a chance to be so much more.

I agreed with everything you mentioned in your spoiler tag but I love those characters and if DC wasn't rushing to catch up with Marvel we would geta better film. Its funny that I enjoyed the end credit scene then some of the scenes in the film... much to look forward too.

I agree for the most part. I think the first half of the movie was a waste. It was meaningless and all over the place. The rest of it was decent and some funny moments.

The first half was just exposition wrapped around action. Could have been used to actually develop things but they rushed so hard into it, they couldn't.

I love them too. My standards are so high because of that. I have higher expectations for them than say, Thor or Hulk.

All they had to do was take their time.

i said i wasn't going to bother... but i gave in to a friend last night and watched Justice League.

so the opening song was 'everybody knows' by Sigrid, and it made the hairs on my neck stand up. i'm a sucker for songs like this.. and i was completely immersed within the first 30 seconds of the film.

to say the whole thing nose dived off a cliff after that would be an understatement.
some will and have enjoyed it, but i was very disappointed.

that said... "it's just a movie."

Zach Snyder was trying to make this movie whilst dealing with losing his daughter.

    Justice League.

Cannot see the "terrible" CGI for Superman or for the main villian.

Enjoyed it and think it was a decent as 1st outing for the famous Super-Powered DC team.

So, I've seen The Disaster Artist and I am even more confused on how I feel about Tommy Wiseau. It's really hard to put him in a box... In terms of how much I've enjoyed the film, I must say that I really liked it very much. James Franco completely immerses himself as Tommy and at no point you think of him as a role. Dave Franco follows his brother very closesly as Greg and most likely is his best performane to this day. There's a ton of funny celebrity cameos (JJ appears!) and quite good laughs, but the film is also an effective drama about their relattionship. My only major gripe is the beard that Dave wears when they're shooting The Room in the film - it just looks fake. Outside of that, a huge thumbs up. So far, every major Oscar-calliber release hasn't disappointe me. Good job, filmmakers.

i'm really looking forward to seeing this! Wiseau is such a conundrum and the phenomena of The Room a bizarre cinematic anomaly. : D

Finally saw Thor Ragnarok. I enjoyed it immensely for me it had the right blend of humour & I found the performances fantastic much better then Thor 2 & as good at & in some places better then the first Thor.
However my friend who is a much bigger comic book fan didn't really enjoy it & found it crossed the line from being humorous into parody & actually enjoyed Thor 2 more.

Logan Lucky - This movie is crazy and funny. Adam Driver for me steals the show but he isn't in it enough as I liked. There is a scene I won't spoil because it made me laugh the hardest was a scene in the court room with Adam Driver. Daniel Craig is is just down right silly, but a good silly. Seth McFarlane is in it and the whole time I was like where is he? Well he's there. I won't give that away either. I wanna see it again.

Besides Thor: Ragnorak (which I love, obviously), and Justice League (didn't care for), the only movie I have seen lately was a rewatch of Doctor Strange, and I absolutely loved it just like the first time I saw it.

I am still eagerly waiting for the Doctor Strange 2 release date.

In the theater - Justice League, just saw it yesterday. I am sort of DC basher but admit I liked it. Flash and Aquaman were great. Batman, not so much. Affleck looked like a whale.....

On TV - Titanic, just saw most of it tonight. The iceberg scene just annoys me to no end , I always end up shouting at the screen - "Don't reverse the engines you dolt....if you just went hard to starboard and kept same speed you would miss the berg!!!!!!!"

I'll admit Affleck's face did look a bit bloated in some scenes, thats what he gets for being a smoker, he should have worked out a bit more for the film, but I didn't mind it at all, according to the comics ( The Dark Knight Returns by comic book god Frank Miller, check out the animated adaptation if you don't read comics, Batman is big and bulky like a whale because he is in his late forties and has put on a few pounds; In the comic you see Bruce sitting and drinking allot, which suggest he isn't as active as he used to be. Affleck read the comics, and is also a big fan of Frank Miller). He has grey hair in the JL, so I would imagine he let himself go a bit to depict that version of Batman. Bale was depicting a younger version of Batman that returned to Gotham to inflict justice on his crime ridden city. Bale's version of Batman was at the top of his game; In top shape. Affleck is portraying an older Batman that still has his martial art skills but is a little rusty and older from retirement; Affleck's version is still the boogyman capable of breaking legs but a bit slower. I love when Batman gets hurt in the JL film and says something is definitely bleeding, a younger batman would never say that... anyway as a DC fan I liked JL allot maybe cuz I've been reading the comics all my life...

One major flaw with Batman v. Superman which bothered me a bit: Superman was fighting Doomsday in the comic book the Death of Superman alone, he didn't have any help, thats why he lost and died. In the film he has the help of Wonder Woman who is the God of War, and Batman with all his gadgets LOL, all 3 of them should have easily defeated Doomsday. Superman shouldn't have died.

Marvel is not following the comics exactly but they are incorporating the right elements that work. Building the characters one film at a time. The executives at WB are ruining the DC characters by rushing the stories to catch up with Marvel. I think the exec's think if they take their time, they'll miss out on cashing in on this comic book film wave, so they are rushing films before the comic book fad ends. IMHO comic book movies will last as long as the films are good.

mother! might be one of the most pretentious, annoying, egregiously long, nonsensical, oddly written, self-important things I have ever seen.

From a technical standpoint, Aronofsky does a solid job directing, I guess, but the pacing is so long and drawn out.
    The editing is annoying.
Lawrence does her best to elevate this.

The longest movie trying so hard to say something but saying nothing louder than anything.

Don't let people fool you and tell you that you "just don't get it" either. There's nothing to get. It's all over the top religious allusions and blast.
You get it. There's honestly just not much to get. Earth good. God and worshipers bad.

the first half, i thought was really interesting, but yeah it devolved into wtf pretension and then pure stupidity in the finale. too bad. lots of crazy-good performances wasted on a flaming bin of trash at the end there.

maybe almost worth it just to see Biran Gleeson get the shoebuttons kicked out of him by his brother Domhnall, though ~ ha! : D

    giphy.gif

you forget how tall Domhnall Gleeson is until he's in a movie with a bunch of short people ~ hahahahaha
