I just can't believe what I read on these boards tonight. It's like an army of negativeness just dropped, like on command.
I think I saw a completely different movie tonight.

I think too many people has their Star Wars reference/introduction as just putting all 3 OT episodes VHS tapes back to back in their VCR.

Star Wars was always like that, back then, each episodes introducing elements not fully explained or explored so it can pay off in the next episodes. And then you had to wait a full 3 years to watch another one.

TFA introduced us to new characters (Rey, Finn, Kylo and Poe).

It's not a movie about Captain Phasma (As ESB wasn't a movie about the Bounty Hunters)
    It's not a movie about MVS's character
Nor Snoke (flame the visual on an hologram FGS)

    I just don't get it!

And I found the Starkiller idea quite original.

I think people are pissed because of two main elements from the movie that I won't spoil.
I think one of the elements serves very well the introduction of one new main character in the Star Wars Saga.
The other one... is perfectly logical and makes perfect sense in the story.

So, if you hated TFA, and the Prequels.... well, chances are you will hate Episode 8 and 9 and the standalone movies as well.

I really, REALLY and sincerely adored TFA, enough to put it on the very top of my favorite Star Wars episodes (I know it is debatable).

Don't worry, Ren will get his revenge and cut Rey's limbs off in Episode 8. Rey will become even more powerful in Episode 9 with her force enhanced bionic limbs.

Talking about PC, we now live in the era of complete white women SUPERIORITY over ALL men. Men are in complete decline around the whole world. Women are leading over men in every single way! That is the way it is! GOD CREATED WOMEN BEFORE MEN!

Rey will be the most powerful jedi of all times, more powerful than Anakin, Luke and Yoda combined. Star Wars is so much better because of Rey being the new main hero. The OT would have been so much better with a central female hero character and this new trilogy is finally redeeming Star Wars. The prequels sucked because of a weak central character in Anakin and the incompetence of the man George Lucas.

People's taste has changed, but I wouldn't dismiss Snoke just yet. My impression when I saw him was that the hologram blurred many features, and I have a feeling that this was done intentionally so that when we finally see him in person in the next chapter, we will be shocked by how real he looks. Now that the general features of his appearance is finalized, all they need to do is finish fine detail work for the next film.

And how can someone disagree on a personal opinion.
I have stated "For me" and I repeat.... it's my own experience and relation with this movie.
I am not stating that THIS is the best Star Wars episode..... I am saying For me, it is.

Even the Resistance didn't find the Starkiller original.
They called it out as Death Star 3.

I was really hoping that Starkiller wouldn't be destroyed (perhaps only disabled, but not until it had destroyed another planet, forcing the Resistance to go on the run again). It would have had an amazing impact and plunged the series into a darker atmosphere, raising the stakes considerably, departing from previous stories, and the ending the parallels to ANH. Imagine if the First Order were to continue wreaking havoc on the galaxy destroying more planets, and forcing Rey and Luke to suspend her training and come out of isolation.

    Yes I did.
The First Order's goal was to finish what couldn't be completed by the Empire.
They could have built a real 3rd Death Star or another clone army.

I think the idea of sucking energy from a Star to redirect it to destroy an entire system is a logical evolution on the original idea.

And.... I can boldly say that, there will probably be a fourth attempt somewhere in the future.

It could be a weather changing device.
A magnet that pulls a planet out of its orbit.
A virus diffusive device that transforms or destroys civilization.

Like on earth... a bomb is not original.... it just progresses in history.... gets bigger with more casualties.

It's not a false arguement when indie folk make Hollywood grade films and post them to Youtube.
Was not explained in the film, per se. The opening crawl stated that some sort of republic had returned.. so one is left to surmise.

This is how you bring a film to a climax through the hero journey:

In TFA we have Rey in a fight using advanced Jedi abilities & Poe (a bit character) destroying the SK. It's a mess. JJ just seemed desperate to put as much out there as possible (rather than leaving stuff for VIII) and the result is a flat ending.
